We love you Dr. V! Thank you you for all of your teaching. I’ve recommended your Chanel to friends and was happy to pop the link to your information for men when one of my bro’s had a question about hyperpigmentation with beard shaving. Your Chanel is wealth!
Dr.V it would be awesome if you make a daily antioxidant serum with actives like Resveretrol, Q10, Astaxanthin, pycnogenol, Vitamin C, Niacinamide and Liquorice. All the good stuff in one serum at an affordable price point.
Thank you so much Vanita! Because of you I took some wise decisions when it comes to skincare! I made some huge mistakes in the past and burned my skin. Oh Dr V! I started watching your videos in March 2020 while in lockdown and going through major insomnia. I remeber being so confused with all the scientific terms. But I was also mesmerised and fascinated. I could watch you speak forever. So I kept doing just that! And here I am now! Completing your sentences!! Hi :) I have 2 questions: Is Azelaic Acid (both original form and glycine derivative) gentle enough to use on dark circles? And second, when used at the right strength, how effective is Azelaic acid compared to Alpha Arbutin and Kojic acid / in which order are they the most powerful Tyrosinase inhibitors? Thank you for the video!
I’m so glad I found your Chanel! I’ve neglected my skin over the past year and finding your videos has been very informative. I’ve brought a few products you’ve recommended to help with my face. Just wanted to ask where you suggest a patch test should be carried out (arm or behind the ear) and how long for? Thanks for all the info, keep up the great work!

Hi. I am a big fan of your videos, and the vast knowledge of the type of ingredients that are good/bad for skin of color. All that said, I am hoping that you can explore the connection between allergy based ingredients in skincare and dark marks, as well as texture issues caused by these offending ingredients. For instance, I have both tree nut and gluten allergies. A tremendous amount of tree nut ingredients are in many skincare products. Therefore, I have to read the ingredient listings on every single product that I am considering using. Nobody seems to have addressed this issue, and I would love it if you could explore this angle! 🙂
Thank you so much for this wonderful information. I have colored skin and experienced hypopigmentation after using Azelaic Acid. Do you know if this will likely be temporary/permanent? I am quite worried. Thank you for your time!
Thanks a million Dr. V. Your videos are always loaded with tons of helpful information for our community. My skin is looking a lot better thanks to you. Can you kindly do a video on La Mer La Prairie, and Predire Paris? Thanks again for your love and commitment to our community.

There are several videos Dr. V has made on different routines in combination with layer skincare products depending on what your skin type is (dry, oily, acne-prone, combonation, sensitive, etc.) or what your trying to achieve. An Example of BHA, AHA & PHA Night Time ROUTINE: 1) Double CLEANSE- • Miscellar Water Gel Cleanser • Cleanser Suitable for what your skin type is or needs. 2) TONER Suitable for what your skin type is or needs. 3) EXFOLIATER/ ACTIVES as in AHA (Mandelic, Gylcolic or Lactic Acid, etc.) or BHA (Salicylic Acid) or PHA (Glyconolactone, etc.) *Watch for the Percentages of these Actives* 4) SERUM Suitable for what works in Combination with Actives. *Make sure the % of Serums are at the right percentage or it can irritate your skin* (Example of Niacinimide: Oridnary Niacinimide 10% + Zinc 1% vs. Glossier Niacinimide 5% + Zinc vs. Naturium Niacinamide 5% (this one has no Zinc, etc.) Paula's Choice 20% vs. Paula's Choice 10%) -->Eye Serum & Eye Cream
Dr V, thanks again for another amazing educational video! Just to double check, when you say about layering azelaic acid with other ingredients, are you able to give examples of actual products that you would recommend to use alongside it (for example, can it be used with paula’s choice bha exfoliant?). Thanks!
Absolutely love your channel! ❤️ Is it possible that you do video for beginner skin care routine and the products needed? And how to progress to intermediate then advanced skin care routine? I'm getting overwhelmed. Which products do I buy first and what ones should be added after. THANK YOU 👍
Hi Arielle, I've seen all the videos in this channel, i'm just starting just like you and this is what i've learned. When i found this channel i was using The body Shop brand (tee tree colection) for my oily/acne prone skin. I realized that all the products had denatured alcohol and a lot of fragrance. As you can imagine my skin was damaged, hipersensitive and did not look good. This are the first steps i followed: STEP 1 - Check all the products you are using right now and make sure they are NAFE-SAFE (No denatured alchool, fragrance or essencial oils). STEP 2 - Stop using the products that aren't Nafe-Safe (it could be most or all of them). STEP 3 - Confirm your skin type (dry, normal, combination or oily) and the main issues you want to solve (rosacea, acne, pigmentation, dehidration, fine lines, acne scars, etc etc) STEP 4 - Before you start any treatment, restore your skin barrier (it is likely to be damaged if you've been using the wrong products). She made a video about that. STEP 5 - Start a new routine with only essential products to restore skin barrier - gentle CLEANSER, MOISTURIZER and SUNSCREEN. Those are the first products you shoud buy. I sugest doing that for at least 2 weeks because your skin barrier needs time to recover. For example: my new essential routine for oily skin is - Cerave Foaming Cleanser -> Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Cream -> Avène Sunscreen Cleanance SPF50. My skin already looks good and i'm not using any actives or seruns yet. STEP 6 - After your skin is restored you can add toner, exfoliation, seruns and actives - in this order. Add only one product each time. Note: If you have several skin conditions including inflamation (acne, dermatitis, etc) treat the inflamation first. For example: my main conditions are acne, hiperpigmentation and fine lines aroud the eyes. I will add toner, seruns and actives in this order - first to clear acne, then hiperpigmentation and last the lines around the eyes. Note 2 - some ingredients solve multiple issues at the same time like Niacinamide and antioxidants. So you can start adding products that contain these ingredents first. I hope this helps.
Very useful video. Just started using Azeileac and seeing it's benefit for our skin type. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Can't believe just finding this account.

Hey Dr. V, I just bought ur facial hyperpigmentation kit and I was hoping you could do a video about how to use it in a way that best minimizes irritation since I’ve never used a retinoid before. Thanks!!!
Really appreciate the content you put up. It has been extremely helpful so far. But with not too many options and research on these acids could please do skin care videos that are safe for Pregnancy. What serums are safe to be used and how often? Especially for pigmentation and acne scars.
Hi Dr. Thank you for today's video. One question - I'm 26 year old, have oily acne prone skin, treating my skin for acne marks and acne that appears on and off. I have recently considered to start a skincare routine, after learning a lot from your videos. :) I started with a 2% Salicylic acid cleanser and wanted to know which serum I should try first Niacinamide, Azelaic Acid or Tranexamic. Please advice. Thank you. :)

Ahhh hey again Doc! Just curious, but will we get to hear your thoughts on the new mineral sunscreens (tinted and non-tinted) launched by Aveene? Otherwise, I think alot of us would like to hear your recommendations for tinted SPFs suitable for deeper skin tones (sensitive, acneprone etc) that we can wear this summer :D Anyway, thanks again for all that you do, we adore you for it!:)

I have dark sensitive oily skin. I want to introduce niacibamide into my routine, but every time I use a product with hyaluronic acid, my skin becomes irritated and darker. Paulas Choice Niacinamide have Hyaluronic Acid. What can I do?
Hi i have also been using the ordinary hyaluronic acid and Niacinamide with the ordinary moisturiser with hyaluronic acid and it made my skin very dry and tight i think its the high content of hyaluronic acid from both products anyway im not sure which product to cut out i love all those products
Thanks Dr. V! It's very frustrating that Azelaic Acid products are not available in Canada... :( Can you do a video on moles (til) please? Basing my skin care routine on your recommendations has cleared my skin a lot (thanks again!) but it never made any difference in any of the moles on my face.. Are they different from regular pigmentation?
I don’t understand why dermatologists won’t recommend Azelaic acid. I just had my appt and asked my dermatologist to recommend Azelaic acid but he was like NO, I asked why and he said we don’t recommend Azelaic acid to patients, it can cause pigmentation. I don’t buy his reasoning tho. To me it sounds like they don’t want people’s skin to get better so that they can keep making money but if there’s any other reason please enlighten me, anyone!??

In the meantime, from The Ordinary line brand do you think Alpha Arbutin is a good layering product with Azelaic Acid? I just want to be safe! Thanks again for this video!! note to self: avoid Azelaic Acid with ascorbic acid, retinol, glycolic acid
Is good or bad?
Dermatologists usually recommend azelaic acid with tretnoin (a kind of retinol) for melasma
tretinion with azelaic acid works effectively on melasma
Can u plz show some organic healthy hair coloring or dyes options for grey hair
Thx❤
Never had any problems with combining Azelaic acid with other actives
I used azelaic acid 15% for my backne for 4 months now I get less breakouts now and the brown spots are also becoming light
💛
Hey dear how do you use the azeleic acid on your body?
@@abhyarthanahazarika1583 I bought a topical cream with 15% azelaic acid. I wash my back with 2.5% benzoyl peroxide soap then after drying my skin use the cream. If I have active break outs I use it twice a day along with benzoyl peroxide gel ( only on breakouts). Don't forget to clean your back before fresh application and moisturize as benzoyl peroxide is drying. I ask my mum/ sister to help me out.
@@saniya9508 okay dear thank you sooo muchhh ❤️❤️❤️❤️ can you mention the name of the products??
We love you Dr. V! Thank you you for all of your teaching. I’ve recommended your Chanel to friends and was happy to pop the link to your information for men when one of my bro’s had a question about hyperpigmentation with beard shaving. Your Chanel is wealth!
What's better? Alpha arbutin, kojic acid, tranexamic acid or azelaic acid for pigmentation?
Dr.V it would be awesome if you make a daily antioxidant serum with actives like Resveretrol, Q10, Astaxanthin, pycnogenol, Vitamin C, Niacinamide and Liquorice. All the good stuff in one serum at an affordable price point.
Hi Dr V. How should Azelaic acid be used in a routine? How frequently? What time of the day? Thanks in anticipation
Thank you so much Vanita! Because of you I took some wise decisions when it comes to skincare! I made some huge mistakes in the past and burned my skin. I have a history of pigmentation problems, but the products used in the past made the condition worse. Your informative videos help a lot. I'm using the right products and my skin looks amazing. You are the best!
I love Azelaic acid but I always get terrible skin reaction from using Azelaic acid.
I tried Paula’s Choice Azealic Acid and it just breaks me out. I am noticing that I don’t think my face likes salicylic acid much.
Could it be purging? I had break out when I used retinoid, last for about 4 weeks then cleared off gradually.
@@afreenmumtaz did u also use aza?
Did you experience some stings and itchy on aza? And possible for aza to surface sort of purge at first? It's been 2 weeks using aza but seems like im in purge phase, but im lost information about aza causing purge?
@@NYS30 any new kind of strong skincare product can cause purging. My face used to sting when I applied azelic acid and after 3-4 months of application it is all fine. Skin has got used to it and won’t sting or burn.
Oh Dr V! I started watching your videos in March 2020 while in lockdown and going through major insomnia. I remeber being so confused with all the scientific terms. But I was also mesmerised and fascinated. I could watch you speak forever. So I kept doing just that! And here I am now! Completing your sentences!! You say "Retinol is" and I'm over here saying "an alcohol" along with you 😅 you say "Glycolic acid is" and I go "my least favourite AHA" 😅 Thank you so much for educating me (and many others like me)! Love and light, always! ❤
Was wondering can you do a face routine for colored active men. Been doing a lot of searching and haven’t seen to many .
Same routines apply for both men and women. You should see her other videos she has great recommendations!
Doctor, which do you prefer for anti-aging, mandelic acid or azelaic acid? Specifically for surface cell turnover to help with dullness
Both
What great timing! I was about to get me some azelaic acid...
😁
Hi :) I have 2 questions:
Is Azelaic Acid (both original form and glycine derivative) gentle enough to use on dark circles?
And second, when used at the right strength, how effective is Azelaic acid compared to Alpha Arbutin and Kojic acid / in which order are they the most powerful Tyrosinase inhibitors? Thank you for the video!
I’m so glad I found your Chanel! I’ve neglected my skin over the past year and finding your videos has been very informative. I’ve brought a few products you’ve recommended to help with my face. Just wanted to ask where you suggest a patch test should be carried out (arm or behind the ear) and how long for? Thanks for all the info, keep up the great work!
I’ll do a video x
Hi Iam currently using Peter Thomas Roth Vitamin C E Ferulic acid. Can I layer it with azelaic acid ??
Azelaic acid is such a hidden and underrated gem!! It was a game changer in my routine and I won’t ever go without it ;)

Ahhh Yeah! I've been waiting for your review of this ingredient! Thank you ❤️
🥰
Great vid and THANK YOU, Dr. V!!! This is one I've been hoping for--Dr. Alexis Stephens likes Azelaic Acid as well for POC.

In my almost 4 decades caring for all skin colors.
I think skin of color can use so many things if we are mindful and not only care and feed our skin with the proper products, but also wear a zinc oxide or titanium dioxide sunscreen and a wide brimmed hat.
I enjoy you and I hope everyone here knows how amazing they are and has a blessed day 🍑🙌🏻🧡Lisa .

Dr V, please review a South African brand "Standard Beauty". Claims to be clean and vegan friendly. Also has simple and short ingredients list✌️
Sure
Today I ordered Standard Beauty salicylic acid/cucumber toner and 1,5% alpha-arbutin with niacinamide serum. Looking forward to trying them out.
Yes please
@@vanitarattan Yes please Dr Rattan. Standard Beauty and another one is Dermafix. Also South African.
Can you please review:
1 - Good Molecules Glycolic Exfoliating Toner (recently launched)
2- Derma E Skin Brighten
Thank youuu!!!
Sure
Dr V you are truly an inspiration to us all, can’t wait to watch this video❤️
💚
For a beginner should i use 3.3% first or 10% with 10% niacinamide???
I’ve been waiting for this one!!! Thank you Dr. V. How do we layer it?
I’ll do a video
Tks 4 this video Dr V .Appreciate all this info
Dr. V - how often should you be using Azelaic acid? Daily/weekly? I do use Mandelic acid once a week already.
Do you have a video explaining how to layer AHA ‘s, BH A’s, serums, toners, and retinoids?
There are several videos Dr. V has made on different routines in combination with layer skincare products depending on what your skin type is (dry, oily, acne-prone, combonation, sensitive, etc.) or what your trying to achieve.
An Example of BHA, AHA & PHA Night Time ROUTINE:
1) Double CLEANSE-
• Miscellar Water Gel Cleanser
• Cleanser Suitable for what your skin type is or needs.
2) TONER Suitable for what your skin type is or needs.
3) EXFOLIATER/ ACTIVES as in AHA (Mandelic, Gylcolic or Lactic Acid, etc.) or BHA (Salicylic Acid) or PHA (Glyconolactone, etc.) *Watch for the Percentages of these Actives*
4) SERUM Suitable for what works in Combination with Actives. *Make sure the % of Serums are at the right percentage or it can irritate your skin*
(Example of Niacinimide:
Oridnary Niacinimide 10% + Zinc 1% vs.
Glossier Niacinimide 5% + Zinc vs. Naturium Niacinamide 5% (this one has no Zinc, etc.)
Paula's Choice 20% vs.
Paula's Choice 10%)
-->Eye Serum & Eye Cream
I have an important question. Is using azaleic acid every day over exfoliation??? It’s very effective at removing dark spots, but it’s very drying.
Dr V, thanks again for another amazing educational video! Just to double check, when you say about layering azelaic acid with other ingredients, are you able to give examples of actual products that you would recommend to use alongside it (for example, can it be used with paula’s choice bha exfoliant?). Thanks!
Yes it can
While I use azelaic acid is it okay use exfoliators once a week?
Absolutely love your channel! ❤️
Is it possible that you do video for beginner skin care routine and the products needed? And how to progress to intermediate then advanced skin care routine?
I'm getting overwhelmed. Which products do I buy first and what ones should be added after. THANK YOU 👍
Absolutely
Hi Arielle,
I've seen all the videos in this channel, i'm just starting just like you and this is what i've learned.
When i found this channel i was using The body Shop brand (tee tree colection) for my oily/acne prone skin. I realized that all the products had denatured alcohol and a lot of fragrance. As you can imagine my skin was damaged, hipersensitive and did not look good.
This are the first steps i followed:
STEP 1 - Check all the products you are using right now and make sure they are NAFE-SAFE (No denatured alchool, fragrance or essencial oils).
STEP 2 - Stop using the products that aren't Nafe-Safe (it could be most or all of them).
STEP 3 - Confirm your skin type (dry, normal, combination or oily) and the main issues you want to solve (rosacea, acne, pigmentation, dehidration, fine lines, acne scars, etc etc)
STEP 4 - Before you start any treatment, restore your skin barrier (it is likely to be damaged if you've been using the wrong products).

Thanks!!!

Hello Dr.... thank you so much for the informative video... hw frequently we can use Azelic Acid
Really appreciate the content you put up. It has been extremely helpful so far. But with not too many options and research on these acids could please do skin care videos that are safe for Pregnancy. What serums are safe to be used and how often? Especially for pigmentation and acne scars.
Have you produced a video series on cystic acne scarring? It has become a common problem especially in the peri/post menopausal woman. Thank you.
Thank you. :)

Like mentioned on the ordinary website, I thought that azelaic acid should not be mixed with acids such as bhas?
Please clarify...thx

Hello dr V, will you please some suitable BB or CC cream for oily acne prone skin.? Thanks ❤️

Does azelaic acid works better for PIH then alpha arbutin, vit c or tranexamic acid?
Ahhh hey again Doc! Just curious, but will we get to hear your thoughts on the new mineral sunscreens (tinted and non-tinted) launched by Aveene?
Otherwise, I think alot of us would like to hear your recommendations for tinted SPFs suitable for deeper skin tones (sensitive, acneprone etc) that we can wear this summer :D
Anyway, thanks again for all that you do, we adore you for it!:)

You might be using too much HA. Also HA helps other ingredients penetrate better so it might be a little irritated because of that
Hi i have also been using the ordinary hyaluronic acid and Niacinamide with the ordinary moisturiser with hyaluronic acid and it made my skin very dry and tight i think its the high content of hyaluronic acid from both products anyway im not sure which product to cut out i love all those products
