Cam Johnson is the guy the Mavs should go after he’s a younger, cheaper and he’s shown he can play winning basketball at the highest level there are no questions about his willingness to win compared to Jerami Grant. They are both very similar players in my opinion and I always say go after the guy who’s younger and cheaper contract wise. It’s why if DJJ wants more than $8mil I let him walk and go sign Naji Marshall and Simone Fontecchio for the same price it would cost just to bring back DJJ. For people concerned about POA defense and if Cam and PJ can do it with the way the Mavs minutes allocation they can lessen the burden on Cam and PJ so they don’t have to be POA all game long it’s why a bench of Exum/Grimes/Naji/Omax is plenty of guys to take on that POA defender role.
@@yosquiggly His shooting is unbelievable but he can also create his own shot and handle the ball and has a nice mid range game. His playmaking is adequate enough imo as well. He’s an elite cutter to which the Mavs need more guys who move off ball and he can come off screens like THJ plus and he’s 6’8/6’9. Think he is that perfect 3rd guy and allows you to have massive roster flexibility in free agency as well.
Pj and DJJ need to learn how to drive and get a decent shot up. And learn to create on their own when Luka is on the floor. You don’t have to be so Luka dominant if their game expands
Pretty much all other NBA teams trying to compete for a championship have no problem paying their 3rd & sometimes even their 4th best players $20-30m+/year... If the Mavs did this with Luka, they would probably have multiple titles by now.
They wouldn't pay Brunson $16m after he averaged 13.5/3.5/3.5 off the bench on 52/40/80. He would literally be on year 2 of a 4/$55m right now. Insane.
