    I am SO happy that you are paid for by the Jazz. I've lived in Orlando and Boston (Rhode Island, actually), and listened to a LOT of local sports radio and podcasts. We are beyond lucky to have you here in Utah. Keep being the best you possible. As a daily, I'm here for all of it.

    I went back and re-watched your shows from the last couple of days after the draft, and Cody Williams and Isaiah Collier were the two guys you talked about maybe wanting to trade up to get because there was no way you thought they'd be available at our picks. Cody you had going 6th to 9th, and Collier you had going 12th, and said it would be unthinkable for him to slip to 20. You talked about giving up a future first round draft pick to trade up to get Cody Williams.
    So yeah, I can confirm, you got the guys you wanted here. Guys you never thought we had any chance of getting.

    I had Cody Williams 4th on my board and Collier 15th on my board! I couldn’t be happier. Today it will be interesting to see if we take Johnny Furphy, Tyler Smith, Tyler Kolek, Kyle Filipowski or maybe we trade down with Portland to roll the dice on two players. We could trade for future picks.

      We got the best possible guy: Filipowski!!! Omg, Jazz had hands down the most successful draft of all dreams considering the picks we had.

    I think Williams is a good pick who should have been picked around 10 but also that he had better value for a team like the Jazz than others, but I do agree Collier is an absolute steal at 29. I can't believe he wasn't taken 17 - 25. So, fantastic draft overall.

    You are spot on Locke! What a steal!
    Cody Williams was projected as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft by Yahoo Sports. This projection highlighted his impressive performances at Colorado, his potential, and his versatility as key reasons for ranking him at the top of the draft board.

    I would have liked the Jazz draft Topic at 10. The way I look at age is that you draft a very young person on on potential you still have to have that development but an older player has developed more.

    You know who else I remember watching air ball shots twice in a row? Kobe Bryant against the Jazz as a rookie. Like maybe you can’t teach shooting, but 34% is still better than a ton of guys before him including Holland, Salaun, castle in the top 10 and some others.

    Exact same picks I make! Only disappointment was why Jazz were not willing to trade for Deni Advidja. He would have fit in really well but I understand Jazz want Hendricks to play alot of minutes. I just think Advidja is an under-rated player allstar level talent and only 23

    Collier is going to light a fire under all the Jazz guards, he will make Clarkson obsolete, and get Key and Sensabaugh playing for their lives.

    • @proforeveryone
      @proforeveryone 5 месяцев назад +1

      Its been rumored that Clarkson is getting traded for a while, possibly to the Magic. Keyonte is probably safe, both he and sexton play more as a 2 so collier at the one just lets them play their natural position. Sensabaugh yeah I agree

  • @malaw514
    @malaw514 5 месяцев назад +1

    Hey David could you comp this young core to our last large rebuilding young core (gobert and Mitchell don’t count cuz that was more of a bridge group). But the Favors(3), Kanter(3), Burks(12), Hayward(9) Burke (9) group? VS Kessler (22), Hendricks (9), George(16), Sensabaugh (28), Williams (10), collier(10). High picks in the first group with high hopes that fell flat, does the second group have any early indicators that it could produce better than that first group? First group wasn’t bad, everyone was a rotation player outside of Burke but it’s kind of depressing.

    How does Cody Williams fit next to Taylor Hendricks and our other guys? I know we anticipate him to start off with the Stars but once he's bumped up to NBA playing time do we have Hendricks in the 4 and him the 3? Just curious what the lineup could potentially look like.

    • @brettrobbins2707
      @brettrobbins2707 5 месяцев назад

      it's a mystery because we still got guys who we need to dump, My lineup would be George, Williams, Markkanen, Hendricks, Kessler. We develop and lose games. But right now It's Sexton, Clarkson, Markkanen, Collins/Hendricks, Collins/Kessler. Yeah we win more games but don't develop. Of course I believe we will dump off players for more playing time to the younger guys. Got to get a top 3 pick next draft so load up on them picks. Even if its to trade Lauri for it. We need Cooper, Ace or VJ as our potential superstar leading these young guys

    Not talking shit about your employer is not "bought and paid for" I disagree from time to time with your assessment but I believe it comes from a place of good faith when you give your input. Additionally looking at the positive side of things is actually kind of nice. We all know worst case scenarios, last night was fucking win and a I believe Cody Williams has the potential to be the very best player taken. If he develops and works and stays injury free...thats unknown but last night was dubya.

  • @docwiltro
    @docwiltro 5 месяцев назад

    I watched Williams play 5 or 6 times this past season and was never impressed at any point with his play. He is like last year's top pick, Taylor Hendricks: long, thin and athletic, but, at the same time, very passive and uncompetitive. Unfortunately, they are the bookend forwards (not in a good way) that we'll probably see a lot of starting in a couple of weeks at the summer league.
    The other two picks I was ok with, but if it were my draft, they would have been, in order, Carter, Scheireman, and Kolek. The Jazz need an attitude adjustment, as Tony Jones might say, and this draft signals to me that the tanking will continue for a third consecutive season. Jazz management is playing with fire regarding the continued loyalty of this great fan base. I don't think Ainge cares one hoot about that, but I am sure the owner does.

    29:49 I don't think comparing Collier to other players is fair in this context. It does not matter how good the other shooters are in this draft relative to Collier, what matters is Collier's stats in isolation. The low volume makes him apples to oranges with some higher volume shooters. All your stats are saying is that Castle was drafted too high relative to his skill (not to other players necessarily).
    I normally like your numbers analysis, but this feels like bad faith justification for a player your boss selected. I only say this because I know you know how numbers and stats work, and the way you're presenting them in this video is extremely suspect. If you want to say that he might be able to develop a shot, ok, but to try to argue that the stats aren't a big red flag is willfully ignorant from someone who has invested this much in statistical analysis. As they say in my line of work, I wouldn't bring that argument in front of a judge.

    24:44 good moves don't mean anything if they lead to empty possessions. I get what you're trying to show/say, but I don't care about a guy who can blow past someone if they are missing layups and not draining threes. Slashing guards are overrated.

    I recall sitting in the arena during either the 2011 or 2012 preseason scrimmage game, David Locke introducing Derrick Favors, describing him as if Favors was the second coming of Karl Malone. Just one time, I'd like to hear David give an objective, fact-based, appraisal of any scenario. Because these over-caffeinated company yes man propaganda pieces get tired. I take everything he says now, with a giant grain of salt, knowing he's the official Jazz propaganda mouthpiece.

    • @malaw514
      @malaw514 5 месяцев назад

      Favors was a third overall pick and the centerpiece of a the trade for an allstar. Locke was hardly the only one to project Favs as a future allstar. But hindsight is 20-20 so keep batting1.000 from your couch dude.
