You know what, if Trajan feels Ron is his guy, I can respect the go get your guy mentality, one I’ve used myself many times with my experience as a fantasy team gm
I'm not attached, but we only had 2 wings who could shoot and play defense. Grimes was one of them. The problem I have is Dallas was desperate to get rid of THJ, there was no reason to send any assets back to Dallas for this salary dump. Would have rather kept Grimes and only took back two 2RP with THJ. Maybe there is more to his knee injury that could be an issue or maybe he really didn't want to be here. I have no knowledge of those things that Trajan would, so I will defer, but this is not a slam dunk of a trade.
I’m very disappointed we traded away grimes. Huge fan of his game. This is what we do in Detroit man, it won’t surprise me. We traded away the likes of Bruce Brown cheap. It won’t surprise me.
Grimes has been a more efficient scorer and much better defender in his young career than THJ. THJ has been a below average scorer (true shooting) for the last 3 years in Dallas and doesn’t provide much else.
@@mrfortwashit was reported all over the NBA. Specifically the Grizzlies but other teams were also interested. But Trajan specifically wanted Ron. Personally I wanted to trade back for Kel'el Ware . Hopefully Langdon is right
Lets be honest. We gave up the better player to get Cade's buddy. Keeping the franchise player happy is worth losing a few extra games during a year where the team is tanking. Have you forgotten how much Weaver was criticized for giving away Bruce Brown?
Grimes could've been a future piece, Hardaway couldn't and who cares about 2nd round picks when you can simply buy them and we have the most cap in the league?
@@PalacePistons fair enough (thanks for the clarification) but when Gores has shown the willingness to eat Monty's enormous contract is it hard to believe he would buy a few 2nd rd picks?
imo i believe spurs may of took him at 8, just my opinion, they traded dillingham for a 2029 or 2031 cant remember 1st rd pk .so i believe he was on spurs radar w tijan salun..they both went off early n spurs will wait at least 5 yrs..THJ n cade our friend connection

It’s not about Grimes being “cool.” He was legitimately a good starting shooting guard only a year and a half ago and he was injured this year.

@@ZachErickson-0222THJ and one 2nd would have been a better deal than giving up Grimes who will probably be better than THJ next year.
I don't like their losing Quentin Grimes for a 32 year player despite the draft picks they got
He's what dennis Rodman was when he first got to detroit. High energy slashing defender...mid range, rebounds, steals and blocks will be his niche

Grimes reminds me of Bruce. I think Dallas is going to be very happy with the trade.

much better defender, yeah sure. more efficient scorer? 😂
@@hardywoodaway9912 his true shooting efficiency has been 58% for his career, above league average. THJ has been 55%. Below.
Definitely liked the younger Grimes more than Hardaway Jr especially from a future standpoint!
Wish it was Flynn instead of Grimes
didnt trade back because charlotte drafted tijane salaun - high likelihood would've drafted holland instead.
Where did you see that?
@@PalacePistons just my thoughts.
I'm not quite sure abut that as miller is pretty similar, but it would've certainly been possible
@@PalacePistonswhere did you see there were offers and opportunities for them to trade back ??

2nd round picks are not purchased with cap space. Organizations have to use actual money, outside of the salary cap, when sending cash in trades.

@@PalacePistons we could have bought an entire second round with Monty's contract 😂
@@stevenhudson7591People only buy them during the draft for that particular draft. These are future picks that can be used in trades.
Well, technically pistons bought the 2nds with capspace

Grimes is a good player that can't stay healthy...so I'm alright with the trade
He played 71 games prior to this year. One rough season isn't injury prone.
Cha would have taken Holland instead of TJ
Yeah, I saw a lot of mocks with him there and some CHO media guys high on Holland for them
Gambling and sports do not go together. I will never watch this channel again!
It’s an ad relax bro
All these Grimes superfans are casuals who didnt watch him take dumb shots and stay injured his time here
Or maybe they watched him in NY as a starter on playoff team rather than just watching 6 games when he was playing while injured.
4 minutes in and didn't say a thing
