I think you might be surprised about how willing Denver is to work with Dallas. They’re probably looking to change their team a bit and improving the bench. Kleber could be an interesting player to pick up with his ability to shoot from the outside occasionally and play some defense. They really need some bench scoring so he might be worth the risk.
This SHIT does NOT move the needle for us LEGITIMATELY competing with the Boston Celtics. Nico, has done an OUTSTANDING job thus far for the cards he’s dealt but, THIS AIN’T it!!!
Somebody else just floated the same interesting idea. If they could unload Kleber’s contract, they could use that money to sign KCP from Denver who would give them a backup shooting guard who is a good defender and a 10 to 15ppg player. That makes it a lot easier to live with Jones lack of production at the small forward and actually improves the team overall defensively. Make him a sixth man and you improve the non-Luka and non- Kyrie minutes, and maybe give them a small lineup that would be interesting in certain situations. Not a home run, but maybe just enough to get them an extra few wins during the season and keep them competitive in tough playoff games.
That's not how it works. You have to include Kleber's contract in the trade. I guess if KCP is gettable for $11m or less, you could trade Kleber to Detroit for nothing, then use the $11m TPE to S&T for KCP. But assuming KCP is going to get more money than that, you will need a 3rd team involved for 1 trade that happens simultaneously.
@@AdamHammond- yeah I know that, but that’s exactly what they’re doing with Hardaway is trading him for someone with a smaller contract and exchanging some money. $16 million for $4 million clears up a little cap room so if you can do the same thing with Kleber or just get back someone who has a option you can buy out, then you free up the space you need since KCP is only making $15 million (assuming he doesn’t get a bigger offer from someone else).
Denver doesn’t want to help sign and trade KCP so Dallas will have to do the same with Maxi and maybe someone else to out right sign KCP. If not Mavs should look to package a few young guys and Maxi for a real true 3rd option like Grant or someone similar.
@@anthonydavis393 you think Denver who lost in the conference semifinals because they couldn’t get any bench scoring would let KCP go for free rather than trade him and get a 6’10 power forward who can guard on the perimeter and knock down three-point shots……why?
@@SDesWriter again, that's not exactly the issue. Hardaway doesn't make any cap space, the Mavs are still over the cap. It clears room under the first apron, which is necessary to use the MLE (the cap exception the Mavs have to utilize to sign DJJ). Once they have used the MLE, the only exception they have left to sign free agents is the BAE ($4.7m). So they could only take on player like Jarami Grant, or even KCP, by trading contracts (like Maxi). So you aren't entirely wrong the Maxi/Green/Powell can be used to bring in a bigger contract. But it's not to clear cap space to sign a free agent.

@@tris.jb_9814 well he’s a young player so I suppose anything is possible. Only one of his four seasons he’s made it to 70 games which also makes me a little nervous. I guess we’ll find out when he gets here but when your team loses in the NBA finals because it can’t make 100 points on open jump shots, you don’t get real excited about bringing in a guy who scores eight a game.
@startraffick that's mikal. He's talking about the one in Charlotte. And you right about that lol About miles tho I think Charlotte is gonna resign him, maybe just looking at his market. Teams are getting much smarter now before signing someone as polarizing as him. And I don't think we can offer him anything anyway
I agree that Mavs shouldn’t after Grant or Miles Bridges. I like those players better than Klay or KCP. They are better at putting the ball on the floor.
Im happy that Timmy is gone and we free up cap apace for DJJ but the risk that you're taking is not getting a 3rd option on yoyr roater behind Luka and Kyrie. Like I understand of what Nico is trying to do but this isnt how you improve the team. You have to get a 3rd option and now we might never get that which frustrates me! 🤦♂️😡
Idk. If minor tweaks are our only move this offseason then I'm good with that. I think they're banking on a lot of our players improving, and maybe someone will develop into that 3rd scorer. This team has just been together 3-4 months when they got beaten in the finals. That's really a great result. And we can always make a move mid season. Don't be impatient. This is a new era we're in. New management. And new rules in terms of building teams.
@@daniel.Rangers2023 Gotta take into account that this is the first offseason for this core. I do not want kcp here, no thankyou. For th3 first time in a long time the mavs are in a spot to move a few pieces and push all in with the rest of the roster being clean in terms of money...
These dallas fans really rather have a injured and declining KCP who shot 20% from 3 n was probably the main reason why they lost to the wolves. Believe in the 4x champ..that past warrior year was a fluke there was drama and tension all year. Get that man a new environment
Thing is, Klay might get overpaid by someone. I think we only have the MLE. If some team is dumb enough to give him what he wants, he's gone. I agree he needs a new home, hopefully we get to him before any other team does
What a PROACTIVE set of circumstances; Thanks for what Nico Harrison is doing
