I think that a lot of this hesitation from fans is because we didn’t really see much progression or payoffs from any of the risks Troy Weaver took as GM. It’s hard to have faith that a player like Holland will develop as a shooter based on this team’s recent history. I think Trajan already seems to have a better plan in place to develop players than the team had under Troy. The most talented players in the draft are usually going to be very young and need development in some areas.
I like him. His highlights are all dunks, steals, some blocks, and transitions. If he can be even a mid jump shooter you got a good pick there. We need shooting from now on though. I suspect one or two of our young core is about to get traded
I like it. We're not good enough to being worrying too much about fit. We can move guys, they still have value. Holland has legit upside if his shot can start falling (73% from the line is pretty good) and in the meantime he can just be a chaos-creator off the bench. Also just want to throw in, Jalen Duren 3pt shot incoming. Bro shot 79% last year from the line.
@@scottwickett1273 lol you're not entirely wrong. maybe he can improve there but overall I agree. He has to improve on defense or it's not going to work long term
@@pheralanpathfinder4897 No, he's not going to turn into an historically high volume 3PT shooter, c'mon. They both don't guard at all, so they do have that in common, anyway.
@@scottwickett1273 I think Ausar can run the point duties. He didn't have much opportunity last year to be on ball which is going to happen with Ivey and Cade starting. Stew has to play off the bench. We don't have a big if Wiseman is getting cut. I think we will get a SF/PF through trade.
Not my first pick but could be a young more athletic Kawhi Leonard/Jayden Brown or could be Josh Jackson. Can they find the coach and put him in the right environment to develop his immense talent? That's the question. I will say one thing him and Ausar are going to exciting to watch in SL.
I am a huge Ausar stand and I believe that his development is so crucial and I am a bigger believer in him than Holland-but I am worried Holland will complicate things or at worse be like Josh Jackson. I want to be hopeful, but I believe Ausar has this amazing upside and I want that to be unlocked with shooters. holland… not sure. He is more raw to me. Let’s hope he can see the same growth as Jalen Brown. A close comp imo.
Jack would you mind jumping on the Pistons discord to discuss Klintman some time. I assume you watched him a lot and have a strong opinion.
I want to see Sasser/Ausar/Holland/Stew Bench lineups. I swear if that lineup isn't +50 against other teams benches, I'll be surprised.
It would need a point guard, unless you think Ausar can do that.
And Stew should still be starting, unless they hire someone better.

Great defense zero spacing. But probably a sacrifice which we will have to make unless Duren is traded.

8-10 is plenty. If we trade Duren they can take all the SF minutes and never clog the paint for each other.

I didn’t think we’d go from worst record in the league to drafting someone I’ve never heard of
Ron holland was a pretty big name
If you have never heard of him you need to study more. Pure stat filler. The shot will fall. Trust our shooting coach

he’s like lebron lite
LBJ is a great passer but Ron isn't.
I think Stuart is out and we seek a shooting wing and let holland develop behind him
Why would he be "out"? He's the second-best player on the team.
Stew is a three point shooter. Good luck finding a similar talent for under 20/year
Another 14 win season regardless of head coach. 2 guys out of 15 who can remotely shoot the ball. This isnt the 1980s
I’d say Cade, Sasser, Stew, and Tech can all shot the 3 but to your point none of them are elite
The team was always going to be bad again for at least one season because of Weaver being the very worst GM who ever lived.

Extremely high turnover rate
Injured every year
Fatigued at the end of games
Ok
