Great video! Consistency is definitely the most important tip in my experience. Another thing that’s helped me is tracking my reading goals through goodreads, the little dopamine hit I get marking a book as read and rating it makes finishing a book more rewarding!

I love audiobooks and always have an audiobook in the background of things I am doing.... also I love an audiobook while I go for a nice long walk on a nice sunny day, I can walk much longer with an audiobook in my ears because I am concentrating on the story which I get so lost in most often

Great advice! I completely agree, consistency is very important, and using different mediums at different formats (e.g., audiobooks when in public transport/gym). Another thing is that everyone reads at a different speed--especially if you're taking notes or journaling. Something I have noticed, is that it took me quite a while to read as fast on an ebook reader than I read on physical formats--no idea why.

I can't add anytihng to that! I think once you find a book you love, you're going to want to do more. Finding the books that fill you with that sense of wonder is the toughest part up front, but once you find them, man it's great.

Diversifying was the key to reading more for me, audiobooks while driving or walking the dog almost tripled my reading time. I also have found immersion reading, listening to the audio while physically reading can help me read more when I’m struggling to focus or reading a more complicated plotting or prose.

    We need this video! :P
last year 10 books, going for 20 this year. Reading stormlight archive was probably not the best idea with my new goal, damn those are big :P Currently reading the witcher which are not that long per book.
If i make it this year the year after 30 then 40 en hopefully we make it to 50.
Have so much i want to read!

The Witcher series was a fun read last year on my end, especially comparing that with the show. I loved how the uncertainty of where and when it was taking place felt more normal in the book than it did in the movie. Glad I picked that series up

_imagining the scenes and not speaking the words aloud in my head when reading helps too_

Learning to stop speaking the words in my head made all the difference, now i can forget i'm reading and be immersed in the story and it goes way faster.

Another thing that helps me read a lot is music playing in the background, if the track gods are merciful, and the music fits the scene, it flows wonderfully😂

Thank you for the tips 👍
Like other commenters, I +1 the audiobooks tip. It really does work and it effectively seems to be using a different pathway than 'normal' reading, so there's essentially no resource contention, time and/or attention wise. And that may very well have to do with the fact that audiobooks can be enjoyed 'hands free'... my favorite listen-time being when I'm out for a run.
That said, I've found that some books work better in audio form than others. Roughly speaking, things like novels, biographies & self-improvement prose (argh) are among the best suited while overly scholarly material typically is not. I've dropped out of the audio version of Thomas S. Kuhn's "The Structure of Scientific Revolutions", it just didn't work for me... it seems they chose to integrate footnotes as part of the narration and it feels like there's (way) too much time spent meandering into tangents.
(The non-audio version is now in my To-Read!)

I’ve already listened to 127 books this year. I listen to them at 2 times or 2.5 times speed. I listen to them when I’m watching sports (MLB, NFL, or college football) because I don’t care what the announcers say.
