  • Recorded live at the Civic Center in Providence, Rhode Island on December 13, 1977. An excellent show with 16 songs and 4 solos! This is a nearly flawless performance of a Kerry Livgren masterpiece.
    The song appears on the 1977 album POINT OF KNOW RETURN and this performance is from the tour in support of that album.
    As with the other version of this that I posted they start off with Incomudro(Damn I wish they played that more often!) and switch to Hopelessly Human. I highly recommend cranking this one (as they all should be) to appreciate all the tasty nuances and parts that are down in the mix.
    Steve Walsh - Vocals, Keyboards
    Kerry Livgren - Keyboards, Guitars
    Robby Steinhardt - Vocals, Violin
    Rich Williams - Guitars
    Dave Hope - Bass
    Phil Ehart - Drums

    Such an underrated band and Kerry even more so. His music is complex but always with reason and direction.

      @gospeltruthtv * I met Dave after a concert at Clemson University's Littlejohn Coliseum, in '79, and he was fantastic! He didn't have to give me the time of day, yet he spent several minutes talking to my girlfriend and I, and we were really impressed with how approachable and down to earth he was. I'm now pushing 70, and still consider spending those few minutes with him one of the high points of my life, and a memory that I will not soon forget. He is, without question, one of the best bass players in the history of Rock & Roll, AND ALSO an ordained Anglican minister of the Gospel! A true gentleman indeed.

    I simply NEW during the unpredictable emotional "sonic stampedes" of my youth that the cognitively shifting virtues found in "Mask" held something I must look further into. Then came my discovery of 1974's "Kansas" LP (one of my very favorites to this day), ...all while continuing to move forward, into "everything that came after"!! ...HENCE and SINCE, this "BAND" was to be, for me..."my ALL-and-ever-AFTER"! ...Thank you KANSAS, THANK YOU so VERY MUCH!

    This tour was definitely their "pinnacle" IMO. 'Two for the Show", the greatest live album ever, was taken from this time frame. Monolith and AV tours were good but you could see the window was closing. I will always love Kansas but you will never hear this magnificence again. As always, thanks for sharing these gems.

    What a great example of a classic band at their peak.Best american band ever as far as I'm concerned.In terms of creativity and performance they were second to none.For the life of me I don't see how anybody could replicate something like this.This level of musicianship has been achieved by only a very select few and they're in very good company indeed.

    Awesome, epic track .a pity the sound isn't better but it's not too bad.... This has always been one of my top favourite Kansas song , if not The One I love the most.... a masterpiece. I was so glad too when a live version was released on the expanded remaster of Two For The Show.
    Thank you for uploading this one.

    I enjoyed this Tour showing in TIDEWATER VA with a girl. We were 15 and went to the Concert together. It was beautiful, a night I will never forget.
    A few short months after the show, my family moved away including me. That girl was on my mind as were KANSAS. Played them daily after school and got hooked, What's on my mind!!!"
    Finally, my Father put his foot down and I could no longer call her, long distance. told me to forget her or she will kill you. We were 200 miles apart and how is she gonna kill me. Later in life, I got married with children and got Divorced. Now I know exactly what he was talking about !!!!!!!!!

    • @rickyon
      @rickyon  4 года назад +3

      I gave up substances decades ago and I have seen multiple versions of the band. All have their positives and negatives. The current lineup is every bit as good as the O6 and because of the advances in technology they are better in some ways. I can assure you that I am not “high”

    • @tpj1959
      @tpj1959 4 года назад

      Mark Burke Steve Morse is good..of course. But his playing sounds more like he’s running up and down the scales. I’m not moved by it like Kerry’s playing.

    • @tpj1959
      @tpj1959 4 года назад +2

      rickyon 06? They are still fun to go to. Very tight and now they have that excellent keyboardist. It’s just that their newest live version does not top Two For The Show.

    • @rickyon

      @@tpj1959 O6 =Original 6. The band that did TFTS. I disagree with you, I saw the band 6 years in a row back during the era of TFTS. I've seen the band 4 times with the new line-up. You shouldn't make statements like what you did here. With the new sound equipment and light shows, stage gear and the obvious talent on the stage, this band is every bit as good as the TFTS version. The two versions are amazing but you are wrong about anyone being "high" if they think the new version is betteror at least as good.
