1943, Batman and Robin Serial, Movie Theater Trailer

Recently I have begun processing film for other people as a way to pay for some of the extreme cost of continually discovering and preserving old film photos and documents at the Office of Image Archaeology.
I was given permission to post this Batman and Robin trailer by Matias Bombal, a very knowledgeable local film collector and preservationist. If you have an interest in old film, the Facebook Page above is well worth looking at.
Made by Columbia Pictures and according to IMDB this is the very first serial to adapt the comic book character of the Batman. In it, the Batman is a secret U.S. government agent, attempting to defeat the schemes of Japanese agent Dr. Daka operating in Los Angeles at the height of World War II.

To find this is very simple. They are called chapter serials. Like the old Dr. Who series, both ended with a cliffhanger. They ranged from 12 to 16 chapters. I can go on forever on this. The serials began in sikent film and last one was produced, i think, in the 1960s. There are two chapter serial movies. BATMAN and BATMAN AND ROBIN. Columbia pictures put out both in the mid 2000 teens. Like 2014 or 2015. Millcreek dvd company put both serials on one disc. I have several copies to ensure I have them. They are interesting.
