Great video of Amtrak's Pacific Surfliners, BNSF freights & Metrolink commuter trains in Los Angeles, Orange & Ventura Counties. On May 27, 2017 I will be riding to Oxnard, CA on the Pacific Surfliner from San Diego. Since that's a Saturday of the Me oral Day weekend it makes sense for me to take Amtrak when I go to Oxnard. I travel long distance on Amtrak and I will be riding Amtrak more often when I'm in the San Diego are when I go to & from Los Angeles & Oxnard instead of driving. I will have to drive from where I live at in the Loser City Tucson metro area because there is only the Tri weekly Sunset Limited that serves Tucson. If our country had high speed passenger train service like Japan has I would be making trips to the San Diego area 8 times a year.
What a jerk that guy was! Was he trying to put a pebble or a coin on the track to try to derail the train? That's a criminal act. He ought to be arrested!
He’s not trying to derail the train. He was just trying to see how flat a coin can get. It poses little to no threat to the train. He should’ve done it earlier though

It’s 505 and it’s the left ditch light that’s not working, the right ditch light is good. 505 probably hit a bird, hence why its left ditch light is broken.
At one point a Metrolink engineer died when the cabcar hit a semi, and the FRA(Federal Railroad Administration) was sent out to investigate the reason why he died, and they came to the conclusion that he died, because the cabcars have a design flaw in them, so they are not strong like the front of the BNSF units!

It's so weird for a European to see all those grade crossings on main lines and rather heavy trains on one-track rights of way. But I do understand why trains have always been a more casual means of travel to us... it simply pays better to run trains in densely populated areas with major cities less than 100km from each other on average.

Amtrak has a button that blows only 2 chimes when 1/2 is pushed (half way) and all chimes sound when fully pushed.

Genesis engines on Surfliners look a bit wierd. Unusual when you Normaly see them on the silver star or with coatches in Amtrak phase IV livery.
