  • All aboard! In this video, we take a look at Metrolink, the commuter railroad for the greater Los Angeles area. Metrolink began service on October 26th, 1992 and since then, it has carried thousands of commuters a day over 7 different lines passing through Los Angeles, Ventura, Orange, San Bernardino, Riverside, and San Diego counties. We'll take a look at Metrolink trains on all 7 of these lines over the last several years.

4:42 nice to see an old coach in the new livery!
8:17 Wow! nice to see a borrowed utah frontrunner single level coach!
10:04 that mechanical beel sounds unusual! Today, they're more common out in the country on a preserved line!
10:38 what type of horn does that cab car have? it sounds good on it!
12:35 nice catch of a doubleheader on the end!
the coolest thing I find about this railraod, is the horns they use! Usually, they're fitted on American-built export locos!

Comet I. The Comet I was the first generation of the series of passenger cars known as the Comet series commonly used in New Jersey. This one was leased from a commuter railroad in and around Salt Lake City, Utah known as FrontRunner and is currently in use there. This one was originally built at some point between 1970 and 1973 for the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) for use on the Erie-Lackawanna Railroad's diesel commuter trains, was transferred to New Jersey Transit (NJ Transit, or simply NJT) in 1983 when all NJDOT commuter operations were transferred to NJ Transit as well, was retired by NJ Transit and sold to FrontRunner in 2005, was leased to Metrolink between 2008 and 2010 to substitute for the Rotem cars used today, and was returned to FrontRunner in 2010.
