On a nice clear day, I decided to head to N Main St Bridge for some Metrolink and Amtrak action. Always a lot of action during the rush hour. Enjoy. Taken: 5-29-14
29:17, this locomotive has a much greater backstory. It was actually painted for a proposed commuter rail agency that would have spanned many cities in the state of Michigan with most of the lines starting and ending in Chicago. This was to be known as “MI train” and the fleet would have consisted of these F59PH’s and many retired budd Metra coaches that still sit unused in MI. Unfortunately after 13 years, not much is left of this once elaborate project that almost came to be.😢
Yes, although some actually still remain in Michigan still painted in the MITRAIN livery and are still used on the Pere Marquette 1225 Polar Express excursion.
That locomotive was supposed to be use for the MiTrain Commuter in Southeast Michigan, but since the MDOT didn’t have the funds to support it, the locomotive was given to Metrolink
That Amtrak train's K5LA made me think, "hmm...unusual!" When I saw it in the video ( BTW all of this was due to the video) I was like, "wait never mind it's usual for this kind of train."
Oh! I have a idea maybe even more Metrolink passenger trains should have eight to thirteen coaches so the trains can be even longer and have the bi level bombardier cab coaches because I miss them so much!
It always makes me sad for the people who live near the tracks that the train constantly honk. There is no need, you’re on a track 🤣 there needs to be a certain level of responsibility for other people to not be on the track. The barriers and lights are enough 🤣. You would never have a train honk multiple times per crossing like that here in the UK and no more people are hit by trains because of it 😅

WeGo Transit has a lot of the old Budd coaches now.

F59PH, you can see them on a lot of BNSF freights

@Obviously Not God Those are SD60M Triclops, which have the same cab, but are hood units.

Americans love their horns unlike British people
Even with the horn people still cross the tracks when the gates are down
At September 12 2008 a colusión happened at Metrolink at 4:28 with the Unión Pacific Trajo so becareful.
PTC will now prevent a crash like that forever do not worry.
