seeing his passion for what he does, his sympathy is just soothing. his story shows us that he's just like us and we also should not give up easily. this video tells so much more than it's title. amazing work.
There are a lot of people who aren't good at learning languages so they can't learn more than one language in their entire life. In either case, your English proficiency isn't too high either and I think that's your first language.
Yeah, sure they teach kids about the past but I honestly don't believe they teach them that the Japanese are specifically evil. That idea only comes from there interpretation and understanding of the history class they are in. If your friends honestly come up with that conclusion from there history class. They really need to re-evaluate the purpose of that class and the things they should take away from the class. There is no denying that some Japanese schools don't teach there kids about the atrocities that happend during WWII. It's also stupid for teachers from China and Korea to start telling kids that the Japanese people are bad people.
What the hell does that achieve in a world we live in today. Why would the chinese and koreans want to teach there children that the Japanese people are to be hated and not trusted? They are only setting there own country's next generation up for failure by making them xenophobic. This isnt even the 50's anymore. I don't think its propaganda as much as teachers who grew up at that time still trying to inflict there hate on the newer generations.
Aura Desru Um, do you even keep up with current events? There's a lot of tension between Japan and S.Korea and Japan and China. Korea wants a public apology from Japan for the Nanking massacre (even though Japan has apologized many times) and more reparations (even though Japan has paid them millions). China is at odds with Japan over the ownership of the islands. There is A LOT of incentive for S.Korea to spread propaganda to its people.
I've enjoyed every episode in this series, but I always get a little giddy when I see you have a real OG sushi chef on the program. The seaweed carving was interesting.
i went here for my birthday a few days ago, IT WAS AMAZING! my sister treated me to omakase at the sushi bar and I HAD MY FIRST FOOD ORGASM. We kept moaning throughout the meal, but we were trying to not make any sound. My favorite was their fatty tuna. First time I ever had it and I will pay $130 to have it again
Maybe it's just me, but most of the Japanese chefs trained so much harder than all the other chefs, I worked in a Japanese restaurant for like 3 years, and I wasn't even close to touching the sushi rice
guntank363 not many japanese sushi masters would say so I'm sure. But if someone is trained in japan, comes here and uses all the same ingredients and techniques, it's gotta be comparable I would think.
This is actually really nice, he pretty much fullfilled his dream by working hard and not giving up. He even made sushi in his dreams XD He deserved to have his own place.
No they definitely broke. I counted 4 whole blocks at the start and after he strikes you can see a fragmented piece of wood plus a total of 6 other pieces.
Never let anyone bring you down. Don't let them tell you that you can't do this or that. Believe in yourself. Focus and you can achieve your goal. Even if you fail at least it was on your own terms.
+Diamond Gaming I don't know about feeling sick, depends on the sushi I guess. California rolls make me feel sick because that crap isn't real sushi lol
Man this dude just seems like the absolute nicest guy. I would love to visit his restaurant and meet him
He seems awesome, Id love to be at his sushi bar.
He's so humble and so dedicated. We need more people like this.
Simple guy, simple way of life, nice episode
he is so humble! he is a living example of never letting others words hold you down... dont let others tell you what you cant achieve!

This may be one of my top 3 favorite Munchies episodes ever. Great job guys.
The one with Morimoto is really good as well.
This guy is a fucking champ.
More like a chump this guy has been in america for like 30 years and he can barely speak English !
Fucking pathetic if ya ask me .....
There are a lot of people who aren't good at learning languages so they can't learn more than one language in their entire life. In either case, your English proficiency isn't too high either and I think that's your first language.
There is just no way you could not like this guy!
Koreans and Chinese.

Aura Desru Lol. As to your first sentence, yes, they do teach that. It's called propaganda.

One of the best Munchies videos ever. Reminded me a lot of Jiro! :)
We need more people like this in the world :)
Talk about a man who is not disillusioned and can honestly look himself in the mirror and know the man he sees. I envy him.
I love this guy. so humble

The best sushi I had in NYC. Hideo is a super cool guy too. He can talk about Sushi for hours!!!
Love this show
Maybe it's just me, but most of the Japanese chefs trained so much harder than all the other chefs, I worked in a Japanese restaurant for like 3 years, and I wasn't even close to touching the sushi rice
I was believing that sushi in the US would never be comparable to that in Japan, but his sushi seems truly good.
Many, many restaurants in the US get fresh fish from Japan.
William Weaver
Yeah, thanks to the progress of refrigeration technology...
guntank363 not many japanese sushi masters would say so I'm sure. But if someone is trained in japan, comes here and uses all the same ingredients and techniques, it's gotta be comparable I would think.
kuribara: Will i own my own restaurant some day??
old boss: You are just a clumsy boy, it is IMMMMMPOSSSIBRUH!!!!
I'm an aspiring sushi chef...would love to work for this guy. Seems driven and humble and incredibly talented.
What a legend!
I have the pleasure of seeing him on Sundays in judo class sometimes he’s always been a good guy and it’s a true honor to know him.
what a lovely person!
This is actually really nice, he pretty much fullfilled his dream by working hard and not giving up. He even made sushi in his dreams XD He deserved to have his own place.

This guy is nothing but adorable!

wtf I cant believe you can cut that out of bambus leaves in 4 minutes
*asians*
Awful Aim or practice
+dumb gal you don't seem so dumb afterall
Lief Chng well intelligence is not so one dimensional, you can be really smart in some ways but still be horrendously stupid in others
+Lief Chng
you seem to be unusually rude for no reason.
Im hungry now. Thanks Munchies
Thank you Munchies for bring a little bit of the "World" into my corner of the World.
A Munchies video about sushi, but without that annoying, vocabulary-challenged vocal fry lady? THUMBS UP!
very nice thanks
Watch "Jiro Dreams of Sushi" if you haven't. This guy's monologue reminded me of it.
incredible episode
This guy seems very down to earth.
Humble guy. I'd love to own one of his cuttings.
sushi is art like painting
da fuck did this guy just chop down 4 piece of wood
i don't think they even broke. it looks like the cinder blocks moved when he struck and the boards just fell.
No they definitely broke. I counted 4 whole blocks at the start and after he strikes you can see a fragmented piece of wood plus a total of 6 other pieces.
+jinn194 Is it hard to break through those? It seems like they broke in perfectly straight lines
i broke two boards in taekwondo and that shit fucking hurt my first. i think four.. even if it was easy to break them.. would still hurt
MusingsofaJay♡ Four of them? And youre a girl right.
Why is this a practice though? What is it supposed to achieve. Sorry I never took Karate classes
Gotta love how the karate scene's background music was straight out of Zelda.
His bamboo skills are nuts but I must say the random switching to english is messin with me. I be like whoa! I understand Japanese!!
10 out of 10 Guys. Bravo(don't think i have enjoyed being on youtube in a while)
what did he do to the shredded raddish to make it glow?
Legend has it that he cuts the whole tuna in half with his karate and removes all bones at the same time
Didn't chop a single board lol
Japanese jeremy clarkson
agree XDDDDD
*Japanese James May
WTF?
i find Masahiko Honma very attractive lol
I don't know how else to say this other than this man is adorable, and i'm a straight guy
Sushi and karate. This is my my 🥇
Congrats on the Michelin star!
Amazing +
enjoyable
can anyone tell me, what kind of fish is on the right at 0:34, is it skin or flesh?
I believe thats mackerel
2:28 - unboxing
Never let anyone bring you down. Don't let them tell you that you can't do this or that. Believe in yourself. Focus and you can achieve your goal. Even if you fail at least it was on your own terms.
Was it me or did he not break those wooden slabs? 😂
haha, seems like a chill guy so I'll let that 1 slide
the wood was like a millimeter off of the cinder blocks. Shit slid off faster than I could eat a piece of sushi during omakase.
The wood slabs actually did break. There were four on the cinder blocks and eight halves after.
Pretty inspriational
damn cliffside park is where im from O.o
The instructor looks and sounds exactly like Hanzo from Overwatch. Unleash the dragon!
He has the lucky big Buddha ear lobes
I thought this was going to be that same dude slapping that green shit, like on that recent ad. Anyways, sweet vid.
hes cool
Wow, he fuckin hand carved that bih. Wow
How many boards broke when he karate chopped them? Kinda looks like 0.
lmao it was 0
watched that shit like 5 times
never mess with a sushi chef lol
how about you guys have a episode with matty and action bronson already !!!!!!!!!
cool..
he didn't break the wooden blocks @ his karate skeewl though.
23 dislikes. They shouldn't bother rating this video
Lost all respect the moment he said he went to a street fortune teller lol
Did he say "steam alive?"
A very simple person
イシバ・シーゲル系
when munchies is better than vice
At the end the cinder blocks just moved away he didn't break the wood :(
could see the seem in the middle of those 4 boards where they were glued
i can't take this guy seriously with his hat being paper clipped with 2 baby blue paper clips and the hat has no top
12:05 some fake ass mr miyagi shit, doesnt even break them... just separates them as they fall off the side of the block... cmon son
俺は寿司大好きです!
Reminds me of a Japanese Karl Pilkington
I havnt even tasted sushi and this makes me fucking hungry
You should try it it's nice but of you have too much it makes you feel sick
+Diamond Gaming I don't know about feeling sick, depends on the sushi I guess. California rolls make me feel sick because that crap isn't real sushi lol
Start off easy. Try a tuna roll, its should be raw tuna, sushi rice wrap inside seaweed. Cali rolls and avacados rolls isnt sushi.
Go hard! Uni is the only way!
I almost thought it was hideo kojima (;_;)
He looks nothing like Kojima lol
sword get longer?
