      Chefs at conveyer belt sushi restaurants can prepare much earlier but you can see the difference in the final quality.

    There is no way that he's the only sushi chef in the US that trained for 20 years in Japan

      yeah seriously. What about masa from nyc?

    • @ttaattssuuyyaa77

      Masahiro actually moved to California before he went to new york, he was an apprentice in japan for only about a decade. Even Morimoto moved to NY in 85, so he only really trained in japan for 10-15 years. Now there could be a sushi chef I am forgetting, but I do believe he is the only one. Most sushi chefs wouldn't end up coming to the US after training so long because they know that Japan is the mecca of sushi, and to be the best you have to be surrounded by the best.

    I can't be the only one to realize that it's much more elegant hearing a story such as this one, from someone who wasn't born or raised directly in America. It's beautiful to see his face of determination and hear the sincerity in his words when he says he will no longer work with sushi when his body is fully rendered practically incapable of movement. Real shit man

      myself and other have also mentioned this in older videos, but lets face it, its not going to change. A thin black outline that makes the subtitles easier to read will ruin the trendy look munchies has.

    I agree that the interaction and conversation with the sushi chef is a large part of the dining experience at a sushi bar. I recently went to a SUsi Bar in San Rafael call Sushi to Dai For . The sushi chef was mexican and seemed irritated if you attempted to engage in conversation about the food. It was pathetic. Additionally it was extremely overpriced compared to better places in the surrounding area. I almost walked out. I regret leaving a generous tip. The chef was an asshole. The food was edible. I will never go back. Responding to alert others who leave near here that this place sucks. At the previous location across the street the place was great.

      Edward Dergosits most of the Japanese restaurants in Bay Area are owned and run by non Japanese, which is all right I guess, if the chefs and cooks are properly trained, but unfortunately many are not. I went to a restaurant and had miso soup that contained no dashi, the essential ingredient in Japanese cuisine

    • @AmaVintage
      @AmaVintage 7 лет назад

      Bryan Liang Well considering Harlem was the birthplace of the Harlem Renaissance, I'd say it's detrimental. African Americans already feel limited in their cultural identity because they were stripped from their homes so gentrifying a place like Harlem is destroying history and even the archaeological record.
