sushi chefs seem really humble
It's more so Japanese culture in general
8 years of loyalty to a restaurant before making sushi for customers. Damn japanese chefs are hard workers
In the world of authentic sushi even after his 20 years he is considered an amateur.
Chefs at conveyer belt sushi restaurants can prepare much earlier but you can see the difference in the final quality.
I don't react to these foodporn sites, videos ect. but when I see uni sushi I start to shiver and drool. my god.
admirable man
There is no way that he's the only sushi chef in the US that trained for 20 years in Japan
yeah seriously. What about masa from nyc?
Masahiro actually moved to California before he went to new york, he was an apprentice in japan for only about a decade. Even Morimoto moved to NY in 85, so he only really trained in japan for 10-15 years. Now there could be a sushi chef I am forgetting, but I do believe he is the only one. Most sushi chefs wouldn't end up coming to the US after training so long because they know that Japan is the mecca of sushi, and to be the best you have to be surrounded by the best.
I'll never get bored of watching anything related to sushi
I'm a simple man
I see sushi videos

good afternoon
right? lol
I don't consider him a real sushi chef like these guys. That guy is totally Americanized with his rolls and other "sushi" dishes. I specifically remember a video where he uses a nigiri rice mold instead of actually molding the rice with his own hands.
Luke cage eats here
manhimanh Sweet Christmas
he went to a barber with only that much hair.....
Thank you for showing me a bit of the World, outside my four corners and a window.
This mans dedication to his art is amazing.
Said tuna was his girlfriend... At least the smell is close
I love watching these mini bios on sushi chefs. Their dedication is astounding and a joy to watch.
I can't be the only one to realize that it's much more elegant hearing a story such as this one, from someone who wasn't born or raised directly in America. It's beautiful to see his face of determination and hear the sincerity in his words when he says he will no longer work with sushi when his body is fully rendered practically incapable of movement. Real shit man
Excellent production. Perfect choice of music, atmosphere, editing, pacing. Thanks for this video
i miss japan
The subtitles are sometimes hard to read with the white backgrounds.
myself and other have also mentioned this in older videos, but lets face it, its not going to change. A thin black outline that makes the subtitles easier to read will ruin the trendy look munchies has.
They could just slightly lower the tone of the material so that the white pops out, but oh well...
traditional sushi is pretty hard to find here in europe
i hope this trend will blow over to europe soon :)
oh man I gotta go
What the fuck is that haircut though?
Seriously, i can watch these food documentaries all day. it's more addictive than porn
Great Episode! Probably the best within the Sushi Chef series. Keep it up! Bring up Shinichi for something else on Munchies if you can, would be great.
This is why i love New York, what an amazing melting pot
i prefer the term "mosaic" because melting pot assumes that everyone becomes the same
deep

Tuna's my girlfriend 😂 this chef is cracking me up. Will definitely try omakase from his restaurant!
not the biggest fan of Japan as my country suffered under their rule during world war 2 but I got to give it to them that Japanese workers are the most passionate hardworking human you will see in your life. 100% respect to their working ethics.
Avery Sim thanks for the fucking history lesson! Africa was colonised, Europeans enslaved each other, civilisations existed and we're destroyed not sure what it has to do with your fucking palette
I agree that the interaction and conversation with the sushi chef is a large part of the dining experience at a sushi bar. I recently went to a SUsi Bar in San Rafael call Sushi to Dai For . The sushi chef was mexican and seemed irritated if you attempted to engage in conversation about the food. It was pathetic. Additionally it was extremely overpriced compared to better places in the surrounding area. I almost walked out. I regret leaving a generous tip. The chef was an asshole. The food was edible. I will never go back. Responding to alert others who leave near here that this place sucks. At the previous location across the street the place was great.
Edward Dergosits most of the Japanese restaurants in Bay Area are owned and run by non Japanese, which is all right I guess, if the chefs and cooks are properly trained, but unfortunately many are not. I went to a restaurant and had miso soup that contained no dashi, the essential ingredient in Japanese cuisine

Fuck I love sushi!!!!!!!!
I can’t believe this dude thinks that little patch of hair looks good. It looks like it’s not even centeted
why I left New York
Nigga this fish is RAW!
He was speaking to his customers in Japanese?? wow
is this restaurant contributing to the gentrification of Harlem, or is it a good thing?
Bryan Liang Well considering Harlem was the birthplace of the Harlem Renaissance, I'd say it's detrimental. African Americans already feel limited in their cultural identity because they were stripped from their homes so gentrifying a place like Harlem is destroying history and even the archaeological record.
good job.god bless
if there was a love button on this video I would push it twice
great video!!
lowkey the guy with the blue shirt looks like cowel simon as chinese
