Full Irish BREAKFAST SANDWICH!

- The full Irish breakfast is up there with Irish stew, colcannon and barmbrack, and rightly so! We have some of the best sausage and rasher producers in the world so why shouldn’t we find joy in them sandwiched together in a light floury bap with a squidge of ketchup. This breakfast blaa is messy business but an instantly memorable breakfast.
Ingredients:
4 large butcher sausages
3.5oz/ 100g black pudding, crumbled
4 tbsp olive oil
8 slices streaky bacon
4 free range eggs
4 blaa bun
Butter, softened
Tomato ketchup, to serve
Baked beans, to serve
Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper

That sandwich looks amazing, Donal. But even better than that is the excitement you're wearing as you're about to bite into it. I'm not sure the 18% Irish in me is up for the black pudding part. Regardless, you're always so much fun to watch and see what you're up to in the kitchen.

I know its just wrong and im irish. You'll be glad to know we don't actually put beans in our blaa's or sausage patty's Donal was just trying to be creative and come up with his own version of a classic but the traditional ways are so much better

I've seen those rolls in supermarkets before and always assumed they were Portuguese rolls.

Being Scottish I'd have used square sausage and Scotch Morning Rolls, and probably added some tattie scones as well.
Black pudding and sausage together like that isn't something I've tried, but the best burger I ever had was at The Cruin on Loch Lomond. Angus Beef, Black Pudding and Chorizo burger, it was sensational.

Not sure how this qualifies as "portable"? You'd be wearing that runny egg and the beans at the very least. But, I bet it's great if you're sitting at the table with a large napkin/bib! Merry Christmas!
Common sense would tell you to just cook and store the eggs separate until ready for assemble or just scramble the eggs instead.
Donal, i love ketchup on a breakfast bap as much as the next person from the island of Ireland. But beans on it mate!? 🙈 Will say, that brown sauce amongst beans is where its at 👌

Since you always specify "Streaky Bacon", what other kinds of bacon are there? That's mostly just called Bacon in the US, and the only other one I can think of is called "canadian bacon" which is more of a cured ham slice.
Streaky bacon is very fatty! You can get slices of bacon with less fat!

Should have assembled the sandwich on a plate before cutting into it; much less of a mess that way.
Those patties are nice and thick- i see you don’t skimp on the sausage patties. Lol
I wish I could find blood pudding I loved it when I was in Argentina-such a unique flavor. That’s a great idea to mix the two!
I love the tip of cooking the sausages ahead and keeping them warm.
I love the running egg - it makes the whole thing silky-
It does have all the components of a hearty breakfast.

Baked beans are a component of a full English breakfast. There is absolutely no place for baked beans in a full Irish anything. We did not free ourselves from the yoke of British rule so we could dribble bean juice onto our Aran sweaters.
