Dude the tank testing portion is awesome. That sets you apart from a lot of people you don’t just spew “I like this for this reason” you give us visuals and I appreciate it haha
Nick do you see a big difference between using live minnows or plastic looking minnows? Just because of getting the fish off the hook and taking the time to go and get another live minnow.
It makes a different for sure. Some days the minnows are just the deal for sure. But plastics are sometimes optimal (and can catch bigger fish sometimes)
Good idea Joseph. I’ve used tuned up custom rods on the ice for a long time and just grabbed a few of their open water sticks to try this season. They are pricy, but seem super nice. For reels, I have a bunch of stuff. Some quantum, some daiwa, some Shimano. I’ve culled out most of my quantums now and have mostly daiwa at this point
You are missing a big one, Len Thompson 5 of diamonds in red usually but in black also works with a minnow or a walleye eyeball once you catch one, winter until July it works wonders, jigs are primary but if they fail that spoon a foot of bottom is incredible

short shank tungsten on the Saginaw River helped us a cash a check on the Michigan Walleye tour a couple of weeks ago
I’ve been warming up to short shanks more and more. I like it for bigger minnows and leeches
@@NickLindner the wind shifted, fish sank to the bottom, had to go into finesse mode, it worked
Awesome video and great information, thank you
Thanks for watching, Julius
I've been waiting for this one thanks bud!

What rod and reel brands do you like using? Possibly make a video about it?

It can work for sure! It just isn't in my top 5
Awsome info
Thanks Craig!
Awsome video
Thanks Jared.
If I can’t find live minnow would a gulp minnow work?
Plastics can work sometimes in spring
@@NickLindner yeah I got lucky and got one off a nightcrawler trying to target them for my first time thanks for the info
That paddle tail 😬 where is it from? Thanks for the info man
That one is the Northland Paddle Shad

Thanks for the heads up on that curtis
Thanks, bro
Thanks for watching!
Amazing!
Thanks Dave!
I've been fishing that hair jig with no plastic on it and smacking walleyes, I didn't know about a jig and a plastic
It’s worth a try! Not necessary of course.
Do I need a leader for walleyes?
A 6lb or 8lb fluorocarbon leader is a must on clearish lakes
What if I'm only use 8 pound line to start with @@NickLindner
The link to your equipment recommendations doesn’t connect. What’s up?
Hey David. Sorry. Those links are probably expired now as I made them a long time ago. I’ll have to update soon!

Thanks for watching Evan
I’ve never seen someone plastic on a hair jig
Yeah, it's a different look.
@@NickLindner I’ll give it a shot, thanks Nick.
Illegal to use live bait in Idaho.
That limits the options, but it's still possible to get on great bites without it.
Nothing shown in MY FISHING GEAR works
Wrong spot , wrong time , or bad fisherman...
Put your hands in front of the camera more. Its entertaining.
What do you mean exactly??
what reel are you using?
I have a number of Fuego and Ballistics in the 2000 and 2500 sizes
