- This video shows the diagnosis and repair of a PS4 which suffers from a Blue Light of Death (BLOD) When Inserting a BD-ROM Disc from a powered-down state. The cause is a faulty DNP015 IC within the PSU module.

Have to say a big thank you I've had 3 ps4s now all of them faulty I took apart one that just wouldn't switch on and what do I find the dnp015 ic had exploded as on part of the chip had cracked off hopefully I will now have a working ps4 thanks Andrew for your videos really help with fault finding

Thank you for an amazing channel and video, i have a problem with my ps4 power supply ADP-240AR, i just hear a clicking sound when i try to turn the PS4 on, then nothing happen more, i wonder if you have any idea about how to repair it.
My console beeps 3 times and has the blod every time time I turn it on and it will stay with blod until I hold the power for 8 secs or so. Any ideas on what can be causing this?
these are the most annoying faults.. and this vid reminded me of the quantum double slit experiment. . the ps4 knows your filming it somehow haha
Hi Andrew I was just wondering if you could point me in the right direction my son ps4 for some reason has started pulsing blue light can't get safe mode up has no picture I'm losted with what to do next any help would be appreciated
It's likely caused by an APU issue in these instances. A reball will likely fix it - don't be tempted to fit washers and bolts to it as someone previously advised - it will warp the board meaning any fix will be temporary at best and ruin any prospects of a long term repair going forwards.

Great video! I have a ps4 where the BD ROM randomly stops working after a few months. Once I disassemble and reassemble it, it works again for a couple of months. Weird.
I also bought a new BD ROM to replace it but that doesn't work at all 😑

Did you swap the drive board when replacing the drive? You have to swap it for it to work.
@@XRelays it is a PS4 PRO so that's not applicable. Its ps4 slims that have a separate daughter boards

Hey Andrew, I'm working on a 1000series PS4 who turns off right after you power it on. It turns off right about less than a second when u hit the power key. It has the same behavior as your other video where the transformer wire fell off. I tear down the PSU and seems no problem, i tested all supply points and it supplies 5v and 12v, tho if i attach it to the PS4 it doesn't even have a chance to supply 12v to the system unit before it shuts down. Hoping you can tell me what else could i be missing.
How do determine its faulty? I can’t find a video how to test it out
My ps4 is acting same from yesterday. So i opened it up to see whats wrong with it. When i click on the power button the blue light turns on for a sec and then goes off and there is no movement on the fan too. I'm not sure if its the powersupply issue because the fan is not starts spinning at all. So my question is can a dead fan cause the blod ? Or is it a powersupply issue ? I was playing game and suddenly my ps4 truned off with a white screen and then this thing happened. Please help me out here.
If the fan isn't spinning and there's a 1 second BLOD then does the machine allow you to repeat the power on attempt at all? If it does then this is likely a Southbridge issue. If it doesn't and appears totally dead until you pull and reapply power then it's possibly a dodgy PSU.

andrew wheres the video you made about two ps4 with problem one had a power supply issue and the other had another ball i think cpu but i cant find that video and i was just watching it the other day?

mine turn on and then turn off and nothing i must unplug it for have sign of power
+max vl For now replace the PSU with a new part if you're not confident of opening it and taking a closer look.
God I'd love to be able to get desolder braid to work like that for me
With a quality flux, good braid and a suitably powerful iron it will mate :)
my ps4 turns on then off after a second or 2 the fan turns for like a second then my whole system shuts off i have took it apart and put it together so many times what can it be please some one help me :(
Sounds like a classic Blue Light of Death - a reball should fix this one no problem.
I bought a PS4 and it has the blue light of death ok so when you turn it on the blue light turns on and then immediately turns off and when it turns on you hear the hard drive make a small sound and then the fan does not spin at all it won't accept a disc it won't even go into safe mode so just wondering you know if it really was the power supply or is something on the motherboard causing the fan not to turn on whatsoever
Most likely a Southbridge fault as this brings the power rails up and you're not getting all of them. Reflow it properly and this should be enough to get it going. Cheers.

Occassionally but by no means is it an exhaustive cause - I've only seen it twice.

hey, can you send me the link to buy the chip? I found some online but they letters on the front do not match exactly. For example the one on my power supply board reads BDDAY and the one i found online reads HE1MA, but they both also read DNP015. I can't find the BDDAY DNP015 version anywhere only the HE1MA DNP015.
