    Sadly every fuse I checked is working even though I'm having the same issue, but at least now I know what it isn't. Back to the drawing board for me I guess. Great video anyway!

    I definitively learn so much from you. Keep going with your wonderfull videos because it helps so much. You are really very good. I'm a certified technician but the difficulty i have that you don't have is DEDUCTION WHEN YOU TROUBLESHOOT. That's my big problem, deduction. I'm not good at deduction and it is so important. I did listen to all of the possibilities you did think before to make a move, to repair. That's the key, DEDUCTION AND DEEP THINKING. Thank's again. It will help me a lot.

    Andrew - Great video as always! I've now ran into one of these with the same issue, but this time, the new fuse blows as well. Figured I would hopefully through some info back to you that could help you on the chance that you run into that someday. The F6202 fuse goes to the laser ribbon and in my case, there ended up being a good deal of corrosion on the actual plug at the laser end. I shot 3 fuses before I figured it out. That's most likely why this fuse blows to begin with in most cases. Thanks for all the good info. Hope that helps you someday!

    I have a serious problem with PS4 SAC-001 so the client says the son was playing for a few hours. The mother suddenly starts the PS4 by unplugging the power cord from the outlet and pulled it to the floor. Since then, when the plug is connected and the power button is started, a message appears on the screen that it does not detect an HDMI cable and remains blue. In my opinion, the processor must have suffered breaks in the spheres where it is soldered to the plate. With the multimeter in continuity some and many capacitors around the processor beep on both sides.

Anyway; at the bottom left of 3535 are three parts; one is larger than the others....anyone know what that is and where to get one? It apparently came off my sac-001 mother board when I was cleaning the dust out of my ps4 1215A. So now I have no disc drive. Everything else seems to be working. Thanks for any help.

    CE-35290-9 error code here. Updated to 6.20 without any issues. DVD discs console reads fine, but inserting any BluRay disc it spins up, calms down, repositions loudly, spins again, tries to read, but gives out "Unrecognised disc" and previously mentioned error code in error code window under the settings. The wides ribbon cable coming out of drive seems a bit punctured in 3 places, can it be the issue? Console version cuh-1216a.

    Andrew you are the man! I have a question, we have a customers PS4 Slim and the same fuse that you have in this video is bad (F6202). The fuse has a small black vertical line in the middle of it and through searching it looks like a 1A fuse but I do not know the voltage? Would you happen to know where to find a replacement fuse? and or could we bridge the contact to test the disc feeding temporarily?
    Thanks in advance!

    • @AndrewPaul
      @AndrewPaul  7 лет назад

      +Computer Booter Repair & Video Games iPhone Repair Don't bridge it whatever you do otherwise you'll potentially kill the board and/or drive. If you've a donor PS4 board (doesn't need to be a slim) find an identical fuse on there (they're common across all board types).

    Hello Andrew - your videos are brilliant, and have taught me so much about diagnosing electronic faults! I'm fixing a PS4 Slim for my son's friend. The Blu Ray Disc drive isn't pulling the disc in and F6202 on the main motherboard is blown - the owner said it stopped working after a disc got stuck in the drive after it had been knocked about while being transported in a backpack!
    I don't have a donor board but do you happen to know the rating, voltage and type of fuse (quick blow, time delay etc) that should be used to replace it? Keep up the good work! So good to see people like you helping us all reduce the amount of repairable electronics going to landfill!

    Hi Andrew, I have a ps4 CUH-1216 model, which has problems reading original bluray game discs (customer told it began end of september 2017). Disc feed is working. The laser has been replaced several times by a new one, but that did not solve the problem. Also the complete drive has been replaced by a working drive from another ps4 of the same type, but the problem persisted. What actually happens, is that the laser attempts to read the disc, but fails. You simply hear the disc spinning, with different sounds, as if the disc is too dirty, while it is totally clean. With original DVD movies, it shows exactly the same behaviour.
    Do you know what could have caused this issue ? Could it be OFW related ? According to the date, the ps4 would be on maximally 4.74. I know that on ps3's from 4.78 or higher, that the firmware update will change the power management and as a result of that, discs could not be read anymore, while being on OFW below 4.78 , the same disc could perfectly be read.

    • @proconsoles_nl
      @proconsoles_nl 7 лет назад

      Hopefully it is not related to the OFW of the ps4... I have seen this in many situations since ps3 OFW 4.78 and higher. PS4 has been returned to another repair company, it has to be something with less or too much current for the laser I think..... But I am not 100% sure.

    • @AndrewPaul
      @AndrewPaul  6 лет назад

      If it's a 1200 you won't have a daughterboard - it's all on the motherboard.
      Does the drive work in a test chassis / another machine? In instances where the fuses are good it's a good idea to check as it prevents you from chasing a board issue which might not be present - the feed motors have a habit of going out which will appear to give the same symptoms.

I have swapped the drive and ribbon cables from my other working PS4 and it still comes up with Unrecognized. I know the 1216B optical drives don't have a daughter board so its not the optical drive, I have also updated the software, rebuilt the database, did nothing so I then installed a new HDD and installed new software (v10.1 from memory) still no joy. Tested all the fuses which are good but it still will not read discs. With the drive out I can see the laser working and moving and the disc spinning. Would you have any clue as to what else it could be? Thanks Andrew and keep up the good work, you're a legend 👍

    the worst part is finding those fuses for sale. I paid 7 dollars each for two and damaged one. This is a pain in the ass job but its a thousand times worse when everytime you fuck up it costs you 7 bucks. Does anyone know where I can get these fuses for a fair price?ive looked everywhere.

    exact same issue! I followed your video and have tested the same fuses
    which you repaired and the fuses in your video all test good on the
    system I am having issues with.
    any other idea on what to test around in that area of the board which
    could be causing my issue ?

      It normally does on its own with this station mate - trouble is at the minute I'm blowing across the component as I haven't enough room under the scope to get directly over it hence wanting the crooked tip. Found one I think - just a case of getting it ordered.

    You do a great job on these things and help me out a bunch, lol. My question is: Where can you get new fuses, diods and such so you do not have to use a donor board? I have used many donor boards but parts are running out. If you have any info please let me know! Thanks for the videos again man, you do an amazing job on figuring out that crazy problems of these consoles.

    • @AndrewPaul
      @AndrewPaul  7 лет назад

      If you know the values then anywhere like Farnell, element14, mouser etc are good for stocking common components.
      They tend to charge fees for low-volume though and to be honest donors are cheap and plentiful these days.

So any help is wanted. I can buy dead boards but would be nice to buy a working new product ya know? Most places I have to source from china which is annoying. @Andrew Paul One more q̶u̶i̶c̶k̶ question according to this "www.fast-pc.co.uk/products/copy-of-dda001ag-sop15-playstation-4-ps4-oem-power-supply-ic-chip" the fuse needs to be a size {0603} not a (0402). While I don't think the size difference is a big deal, the problem is the
    interrupting Rating (at Rated Voltage) is different. The ERB-RD1R00X is a {0402} which according to the data sheet is 35A, While the {0603} ERB-RE1R00V is a 50A [everything else is the same]. Here is the data sheet "www.farnell.com/datasheets/1755861.pdf?_ga=2.257955337.223264423.1592519723-963387287.1592519723" So don't I need the {0603} ERB-RE1R00V instead, am I misunderstanding something, or is that site wrong?
    P.S. I probably should have said this first, I have a CUH-1215A
    Board: SAC-001
    P.s.s. I was going to ignore it and just get what you said but it just kept gnawing at me. Also i have been looking for a solution for this problem for over 6 months so thank you for your video and your help.

    • @AndrewPaul
      @AndrewPaul  6 лет назад

      Try changing those two 6-pin ICs (I believe they're voltage regulators) visible at 29:29. You'll likely need a donor board for these as I've no known part numbers.

  • @craigs6868
    @craigs6868 6 лет назад

    I understand that a blown fuse caused the issue, but doesn't that usually indicate another issue as fuses generally don't just blow?

    • @AndrewPaul
      @AndrewPaul  6 лет назад +1

      Hi Craig,
      Indeed - these motors peak at relatively high amps when they start - after a few years with dirt / dust on the rollers and a lack of lubrication on the mechanism it takes more effort for the feed motor to advance the mechanics, thus drawing more peak power and eventually blowing the fuse over time. It can also be caused by helping 'push' the disc in as it auto feeds - this is a bigger issue on the slim PS4 as they use a lower rated fuse which exacerbates the issue. Typically, if you're finding your fuse is popping often, clean the drive, lubricate the mechanisms and replace the feed motor - they get weaker over time and again can cause premature fuse failure.

      Those are capacitors rather than fuses. They're there to smooth voltage into the 5v rail IIRC. I'd be doubtful they're your problem.

I cleaned it out and reapplied thermal paste to the cpu. There are several dark spots on the board that alcohol won’t remove. I checked all fuses on the motherboard and none are bad.
