As a vietnamese person growing up in the vietnamese culture for the majority of his childhood, the worst part about this whole scandal is that im not even surprised that it's the VCS doing this
To elaborate, vietnam has a deep history of war and often fought as the underdogs. We prevailed because of our determination and ingenuity (so much so that many forms of traps went to Geneva). Past the wartimes, that culture that puts your cunning at such a high regard maintained, but has slowly morph into a general anti-authority, deals on the side kind of system. Look no further than the education system, where cheating in school is not only common, but almost expected. In legal systems, bribery is a big problem, and soooo many gov officials has been incarcerated in the past couple years for embezzling funds. I want to say I've internalized a certain negative bias on vietnamese people, but like, it is definitely not a totally irrational and unjustified bias.
@@khrispychiken I wouldn't say ingenuity, more like ruthlessness. Many of the traps were ones deemed as inhumane because they were simply cruel. Soldiers are also meant to fight so that civilians won't add up the casualty count, but Northern Vietnam engaged in pure guerilla warfare: hiding among the civilians, placing traps in open fields that would only cripple soldiers, and much more. This ruthlessness and rebellion fueled war period resulted in a similar situation as France where the country was ruled by a militant power with rigged elections and much more corruption. Thus, the people have stopped trusting the government and whatever societal constructs that were in place and have simply sought to make the most for themselves. Hence, the cheating and match fixing. It's been a sad 80 years for Vietnam, and it's honestly a huge relief that it wasn't nuked or turned into a complete dystopia as it had been a massive war border.
@@khrispychiken I understand you are more referring to the society than the people. Also, reading about some commenters allude to potentially the economic reasons that VCS team members may have turned to match-fixing (relatively low salaries), I can't help but think that LPL, LEC, LCK, LCS, don't have the same degree of such pressures...so the situation is unfortunate but I can find some sympathy.

There’s a thing I want to highlight before banned list comes up. Riot doesn’t allow their pro-player relate to any kind of gamble (but I heard that there’re many proplayer participated in gambling including soccer/footbal matches). But Riot doesnt tell us the reason why the players be banned. Therefore, all speculation for banned players is match fixing. I don't want to justify the violation but there is an ethical barrier between match fixing and betting. So if you don't really know why they were banned , I hope you can treat them more gently.
It's already hard to believe all if not most of the non-finals are not fixed in the simplest ways like who gets FB. Every employer or leader in asia abuses the dream of "opportunity to be rich" to justify paying pennies in asia, Same thing happening in many sports in Asia namely PBA(Philippine basketball association ), only champions and top 2 if not 3 gets some money if not something, so it's a way for the 4th and below to get something out of their effort, (not saying the top 3 are not doing it) It's quite easy to fix in Asia cause people would just say, they're just sore losers or something.
I'm not gonna defend match fixing but considering this happened on a SEA nation i could see why, cause most of the players here are paid so little they might as well be paid literal bags of candies. Most SEA pro players also have more pressure since most of the time your parents are very traditional and won't really lean on you going into pro gaming, hence why there are less pro players in this region compared to china/europe/korea/usa.
I agree with your second point but the first point in which you said they are paid very little is not entirely correct. Yes, compare to LCS, LEC and other regions it is substantially less. But I would argue that the cost of living in Vietnam is very cheap. 700$ monthly is more than enough for you and you have many rooms for savings. They are paid more than average workers in Vietnam. Only greed justifies everything they did.
It's not like someone force them to be Pro gamer. These player accept the job after consider salary. Their action destroy very job they are depend on. So now it went from getting paid to nothing

Paid so little is subjective. The avarage pay is $200-$350 a month, higher than national avarage pay. Plus accomodation and food, they dont have rent, no groceries. In vietnam you can’t find a job that you wake up at work, wake up at 11am, no traffic waiting, people cook for you, AC 24/7, and 6-8 hours work day

As someone from SEA, this is why we can't have nice things. It's only recently that Riot actually paid attention to SEA countries, with Philippines and Indonesia getting their own Riot servers instead of 3rd party companies like Garena.
they only took back PH to use it as a guinea pig for Vanguard, if you look it up, Philippines was/is the first country to roll out Vanguard. They gave ultimate skins but only given 1 year to enjoy them with the Vanguard BIOS requirement that many PC's don't have.
Hi Ryscu, I enjoy your videos a lot but please use the text effects where there is blue&red blure around normal white text, its disorienting to look at, it would be really appreciated
Just a small thing: That weird filter or blur over the announcements at 3:03 . 3:59 , 5:14 , 6:37 , 6:58 makes it harder to read the messages. Apart from that very nice video.
A bit of a fun fact: The reason why you cannot get the official Vietnamese broadcast of TS vs OPG is that the channel which owns all the broadcasts till the end of 2021 - VETV7 (VETV) owned by Garena was shut down as a result of Riot taking responsibility of VN's server. Hence, all of their content on RUclips was locked from access.
this is a perfect example of short gains over future gains. Same thing in NA they choose the money over making a labor union or invest in challenger teams. By the time they did it was to late. Now no one gets paid and a lot lost there job because they choose the short money.
Dw bro if your region was China you'd be sweet as, Tencent overlords and all. Riot piss me off cause they have CLEAR evidence of Chinas cheating problem but do nothing about it just cause they're owned by em, actually so sad to see a dev team who literally left blizzard because of "abuse" only to end up selling out to the most abusive Chinese company to ever exist in video gaming history.
Please correct me if I am wrong, but how can it be that the company responsible for monitoring the competitions and betting operators, SPORTRADAR, has never come forward and pointed out any irregularities?
I honestly gave up on basically all competative esports for any game as matchfixing is running rampant RN in just not only league... Ranked play across multiple games is completly collapsing aswell so yeah
I dont even know why gambling stuff is so prominent in vietnam, when it comes to putting bets on Games in esports, somehow vietnamese people are so prominent. I have literally seen entire chats turn to vietnamese chats simply because of the betters chatting and even witnessed threats against people for losing.
The thrills and quick bucks I guess. Many see it as a harmless hobby, one that give you an excuse to hang out with the bois and burn your disposable income at weekends. Some see it as life changing opportunity without ever break a sweat.
LCK also throws even at worlds. I was stunned when I saw how everyone in SKT T1 except for Faker played in finals of world 2017. Like all the games in worlds were great until the final where everyone just started randomly throwing while Faker was trying to carry and getting punished for this.
ngl, I sometimes feel like lcs games are off. not in terms of giving free kills or dying stupidly but. sometimes I would see a champion do so much damage but the next game it doesnt seem to the same. ofc I did consider the fact it could be the items or being fed or being ahead in levels. but still sometime it just feels off
When I was highschooler monkey who love scaling school's wall to go to netcafe midday break, I vividly remember there was a matchfixing of Age of Empire (?) that involved big money was unearthed, the glowies in green busting in netcafes for id check and several ring leaders was cuffed. Crazy time, the 10pm law was introduced around this time too I believe, after some public outcry, where netcafe cannot be open from 10pm, of course they still do, you just need to know the way in. Now day netcafes are thin on the ground, but you can bet the glowies are working around the clock on those betting site, they love busting gambling den after all for obvious reason.
Maybe if riot paid their players a reasonable amount of their insane ad-income money to begin with, they wouldn't have to go looking for alternate sources of income.

I honestly feel for the VCS players. Theyre so underpaid they kinda HAVE to rely on match-fixing to get the bread and support their family. While what they're doing is absolutely wrong, I can understand why they have given up on integrity. As a vietnamese, the sad truth is that if you want to make it big here, you'll always have to get your hands dirty
incredibly sad to see this is how my region gets spotlight on them, really wished for the VCS to get bigger but doesn’t seem like we’ll be seen as legit any time soon
VCS matchfixing like crazy, LCK getting DDoSed while Riot trying desperately to remove the necessary pings and other fun parts from the game, what a inhumanly intelligent move ngl
Karma to riot optimizing the game for esports instead of just making an esport version, they will get unloyal players who are only in it for the money, I knew teams that are not in the top 2 consistently will make money somewhere else aka bets.
Not sure if its just me and my eyesight lol, but trying to read the rainbow text at 6:56 was just slowly hurting my eyes. Not sure if its just me though
Im viet, so I can give u guys some closer look at this ridiculous situation. Before 2023, the League server and VCS was controlled by Garena - think of it like Steam but for South East Asia. At the time, everyone implicitly understood that the tournament was controlled by a force behind it, and rumors says the one controlled it all was Mr.Vinh - ex owner of GAM Esports (people making jokes that the VCS is actually called Vinh Championship Series). And because this was only controlled by one person, rigged games happens already. The Lucian u guys saw at the early of the video was actually kicked from his team (and maybe banned i dont actually remember) because the owner of the team found proofs that he involved in match fixing. The page that given us most of the info is actually anonymous, and has been leaked super percise information about the scene without anyone knowing who actually is behind it etc. This thing is a mess, but now since the server and the league go back in control of Riot, lets hope good thing happens
i wonder how will the world react when we find out IF the worlds championship got fixed or msi or regionals and all people that were considered gods of league are fake , let the chaos begin , time tells no lies
I wonder if Riot will actually ban 32 players if they are all found guilty? Or they will only soft ban the ones that didn't commit too bad of a crime so that it doesn't look too bad on the league
tbf it seems there stills some serious people working at riots competitive integrity, idk, or maybe they only punish the lack of care about hiding the fixings.
Ahhh my region, after all these dramas, I'm glad that VCS is taking a big turn for the better. There is currently a trend of old, fan-favourite players joining teams in Play-off to replace the suspended players. This includes VKE Sofm (Worlds 2020 Runner-up) and TW Optimus (the midlaner of GAM 2017 roster). Needless to say, VCS will be making a big return next week and I'll be there to root for my region. VCS FIGHTINGGGGG!!!!

Since so many people cheated in VCS it would be better to cancel VCS completely and to ban all players from playing competitive. Riot Games should also file a lawsuit. Many of them were cheating and the rest of them probably knew about cheating. Nobody needs players like that in Esport and it would send a message to other cheaters.

they only took back PH to use it as a guinea pig for Vanguard, if you look it up, Philippines was/is the first country to roll out Vanguard.
They gave ultimate skins but only given 1 year to enjoy them with the Vanguard BIOS requirement that many PC's don't have.
The color filter on the images with text hurt my eyes.
Hi Ryscu, I enjoy your videos a lot but please use the text effects where there is blue&red blure around normal white text, its disorienting to look at, it would be really appreciated
agreed
not me reading the comments during the video bc the text effect physically hurts my eyes, but I still want to hear the news.
Skill issue.
I really thought my vision was going bad, so Irubbed my eyes a lot I started to get worried glad to see this comment.
I bet
Please no more chromatic aberration effects on text, it's a nightmare to read, good video tho
man, and i thought it was because i'm reading without my glass @@@
editor: **adds god rays, ambient occlusion, depth of field**
I mean wasn't the top challengers in Vietnam server were also win trades? Not all but a huge chunk of their challenger players win trade a sht ton
I still think that the "throws" are not as obvious as the ultra liga ones.
Mum I made it into a ryscu video
ngl, I sometimes feel like lcs games are off. not in terms of giving free kills or dying stupidly but. sometimes I would see a champion do so much damage but the next game it doesnt seem to the same. ofc I did consider the fact it could be the items or being fed or being ahead in levels. but still sometime it just feels off
The effects on the text makes my eyes hurt specially at 5:23, i would avoid them in the future
Maybe if riot paid their players a reasonable amount of their insane ad-income money to begin with, they wouldn't have to go looking for alternate sources of income.
we even heard that the coach encourage players to match fixing
The color degradation on the text is not a good idea dude, please if possible dont do that, i double checked my glasses 3 times thinking it was my eyes, i had some problems with my eyesight as of late, i legit thought man, its getting worse? thank god i checked comments and its not only me
I honestly feel for the VCS players.
Top LPL teams casually losing 2:0 back to back to teams with 10x coefficients. Nah no match fixing here
Riot: Does matchfixing to give you Winners and Losers Q
Players: Does matchfixing
Riot: Wait that is illegal
Hypocrites
True, I think it's also called EOMM
Riot ignored betting and game fixing and now it’s spreading to the competitive side and will only get worse if they don’t address it properly
I bet
VCS matchfixing like crazy, LCK getting DDoSed while Riot trying desperately to remove the necessary pings and other fun parts from the game, what a inhumanly intelligent move ngl
I never ever thought i would see vcsenglish(the unofficial english casters) mentioned in a youtube video. I used to watch them long ago
Karma to riot optimizing the game for esports instead of just making an esport version, they will get unloyal players who are only in it for the money, I knew teams that are not in the top 2 consistently will make money somewhere else aka bets.
2:34 It's actually means OPG to lose, not win. Yup the situation is pretty bad, but hey, at least we can see SofM play again :D
Not sure if its just me and my eyesight lol, but trying to read the rainbow text at 6:56 was just slowly hurting my eyes. Not sure if its just me though
The effects/filters you used made reading texts so hard and painful to the eyes. Please refrain from using that again.
Man, who could've seen THAT coming, huh?
Thank you for uploading these very informational video and bring this info forward to more eyes
There's players in riot challenger na right now, win trading, scripting abd even buying accounts.
Match fixing is so bad in League right now. Even my own teammates participate is solo queue (I'm in Gold) .
the rainbow font hurts my eyes, please stop using those :/ (not in a h*m*phobic way, im just dizzy by the colors)
I hurts on both ways🗿
Or they will only soft ban the ones that didn't commit too bad of a crime so that it doesn't look too bad on the league
btw tipp dont install this overlay and overwolf stuff, it makes riots already broken client even more laggy and broken
They’ve been match fixing ever since the betting on these games came out. Everyone just ignored it
tbf it seems there stills some serious people working at riots competitive integrity, idk, or maybe they only punish the lack of care about hiding the fixings.
If everyone is match fixing, is no one match fixing? Legitimately how do you try and give FB if everyone is trying to throw.
Someone to the new player: Just so you know you will get a cut if you get FB, etc. :3
I thought it was sus when riot released the song "fly phoenix" even before fpx won
can you please talk about the fact that pbe legit just has this horrible bug that makes it so you cant sign in to the pbe i have tried so many things but i cant seem to load in every time its always failed to launch or i don't have a pbe account when i do in fact have one I've tried deleting the game from everything auto run fixes admin priority other fixes restarts basically the whole reddit list of things I can do
Man when you put on the blue and red filter for text it kinda f**k my eyes. Quite hard to red anything.
The matchfixing isn't just in the VCS. It's widespread imo. You only need to open your eyes.
listen the outplayed add... some times you get a sick 5 man ult and your team clean sup and you jsut WANT the clip okay?
What's with the glitchy text? Example at 6:37. Seems like it appears when you inserted pictures of text
I feel like a buncha teams win-trade just by drafting like shit and then play the best they can with a gimped hand 😂😂
My best moment is missing all skill shots, still getting the kill with AA then type EZ in chat
I don't know. I have seen silvers leave a wide open base to take baron before. You're giving them too much credit
Reminds me of a losing game as Nilah in URF, and I killed 2 towers and their nexus straight xD. Someone came to try to stop me but he was an auto-attacker
We sacrificed 32 players to summon SoFM.
Worth it.
A woman approached him on the street. He acts like he isn't a part of the alhpabet mafia
that blue and red effect really hurts my eyes when trying to read what you put on the screen. The video itself is great but this really needs some fixing.
Some match fixing one could say ... hehehe.
Wild rift is worse than league. Mathmaking is absolutely disgusting. People climb with negative win rating and 50% winrating.
3:10 please don't use that effect, makes some of us dizzy lol
this is happening in other tier 1 leagues, and definitely rampant throughout CS as well…. and not a damn thing is done
Wait, is there a game where both teams try to lose in a official match?
Too much prop markets that you don't even need to consider ML
Match fixing is so common in all sports.
who would want to watch men's fixed matches? I rather watch womens sports fixed or not 🤣
Every region is doing this btw.
It’s just that these guys got caught because there’s not really that much money involved.
the dark web is full of price fixing websites. mostly real sports but im sure theres esports in those websites as well
Advice Ryscu when editing DO NOT use the 3D Green/Red color it really hurts eyes when attempt to read.
Otherwise the video was really good.
They sacrificed 32 bad player to summons the goat of vcs
Oof... Regardless of what ends up happening, vietnamese players are always going to have this stigma going forward. I feel bad for the honest players.
these people eat fish soup and eat animals not considered food in most major parts of the world, and we're mad they tried to turn 1 fish soup into 3 fish soups................ come on guys
Today I learned Team Secret has a League team.
“But first my rent is due” that’s vaild ngl ill download outplay
first it was TFT and now this. sigh SEA region is lost for Esports
its bad in ow2 i got false report silenced and harassed by incel gamers so now i get trolls flamers every game 30% winrate, except on venture 51% winrate, it'd be 80% winrate with non shit mming
Im so glad my GOAT Levi is clean, love seeing him compete on the imternational stage
unfortunately for beanj, he’s has improved himself over the years ( if anyone see both teams of sgb and tw, you can see a huge improvement).
Most honest SEA "people"
thanks for that text, I didn't need my eyes anyways! xD
Okay time to dissolve the whole VIETNAM LOL Esports scene.
7:00 list of 32 suspects, some with the rainbow text highlight lol
The text is blurry my eyes hurt pls use yellow highlights or any color that doesn't hurt eyes
Pls dont do that edit with letters, where they overlap and in different colours, it hurts the eyes and i legit thought my eyesight was fucked up.
Bro that's some great content, keep it up!
Ryscu two days ago i was playing lol on tr server i was having max 7 ms then i got ddos and disconnected 12 times and 600 ms min
MA ITS' THAT CAT AGAIN!
YEAH, IT'S TALKING ABOUT LEAGUE OF LEGENDS!
I KNOW NO ONE WITH A JOB CARES, MA, JUST CALL ANIMAL CONTROL
