Thank you for this video! I was looking for new info on Frankie myself and I kept finding clips that repeated the same info. This is new stuff I never heard. This is great!
Outstanding job!! This is the first time I’ve heard (or read) any of the details surrounding Frankie’s post-Teenagers years and career path!! Didn’t know any of the other group members struggled with drug problems, either!! I do recall seeing a sub-headline in one of the local papers (Phila. Tribune) after his death reading “Singer despondent over Vietnam assignment.” After seeing your podcast, I’d have to question whoever the editor was: If Frankie received a dishonorable discharge, how could he have been down about being sent to ‘Nam if he was no longer in the Army? Again, great work!!! Kudos!!!
He was indeed one of the greatest voices ever, a genius and bundle of energy unbridled. He is another gifted talent that fell by the wayside that says, "All That Glitters Is Not Gold". He was dead, long before he died, as was so many before him.
Frankie is one of my favorites. It's very sad he was around the same age as me doing mostly grown up stuff he should've never been doing. His story is very sad. Another great video sir🫡
Frankie had so much tragedy in his life. First Losing group, his mother, his daughter and the drug addiction… so talented yet so weak. RIP Frankie…. We love you
I’d like to know where were his parents???? Frankie’s adult voice wasn’t the disaster as legend made out to be. He sounded more like a crooner. Regardless of where his head was, and his demons, he was a talented young man whose place in rock and roll is secure. This was a great detailed account of Frankie’s later years. Thanks for posting.
I really did enjoy the video It was very informative. I just wish you played some of his later releases even if they were just Snippets I know one of his records is highly sought after by soul music collectors and goes for big$$$
Wow this is probably the most detailed videos I’ve watched about the later years of Frankie’s life. Several other videos mentioned an attempt to reunite with The Teenagers but don’t get into detail. You even have pictures of Frankie’s wives that I haven’t seen.
@@frankielymonchannel1640 that's how it was in them days white producers get black talent they make millions nobody protected the black artist in them days ain't that a mess but so glad it ain't like that no more my my
The Teenagers as well as The Schoolboys & Students were the original Boybands. Also in her book Rock Star by Jackie Collins (RIP) that was published in 1987, there was a singer similar to Frankie called Bobby Mondella. His career ended at 16, when his voice changed. He worked as a Men's Room Attendant but he made a comeback. Both Michael Jackson (RIP) and Donny Osmond also admitted they were scared when their voices also changed. Also in the 1960's the music scene had changed so much and he couldn't keep up with the times.
Thanks a lot for this in-depth reportage. I recently got fascinated of his story. You didn't mention the incident when he in young age innocently danced with a white girl on a tv show ( or something in that direction, I don't eant to say the story wrong). It caused a scandal an d that show was banned from TV. It got the showmaster Allan Freed into trouble.
@@yasinfrei Thanks for watching! The incident you're referring to happened in 1957 on Alan Freed's Big Beat show. I didn't mention it because I wanted to focus mainly on his life and career in the 60s.
The year he died, we were introduced to The Jackson 5 Jackie Tito Jermaine Marlon and Michael😍 Michael Jackson reminded me of where Frankie was headed. Superstardom , he was so talent with charisma. Only 25 🤔 He didn't have the right people around at his age. Even if his voice was changing he could of transition like Michaels voice did. I often wondered what would and should have happen to this great entertainer if he live. RIP Frankie Lymon
June 30th holds a part in Pop Culture. It was the day that Ed Sullivan and his toast of the town debuted in 1948. The guiding light soap opera debuted on 1952 and florence ballard was born in 1943, and in 1983 Cheryl Ann Tweedy formerly of Girls Aloud was born whose ex was Liam Payne of One Direction.
Would you do one on Rudy Lewis, one of the lead singers of the Drifters. He had a beautiful voice. I loved the video of Frankie Lyman. I was a child, but he was a great singer, a natural born entertainer is what he was.
Many people try to kick hard drugs, but sadly very few are able to live without them. If they leave narcotics alcohol, cocaine, pills claim them. Ruination is all too common.

If he wouldn’t went back to New York he would still be alive. He basically relapsed and thought he could control his herion by doing only a little but overdosed great video though
More informative than the movie, I like the actors in movie, but the movie was just so buffoonery. so, from 13 years to 25 years he was already a junkie.
Been following Frankie’s career since I was 9 years old. Thank you for posting this. My favorite song in his later years is SeaBreeze
This was a lot more detailed than the movie. Thank you 💔.
Wow the rare pictures are a beauty, especially the picture of him in training🙌🏾
Agreed!! Never saw that one before!
He was just a wonderful entertainer and a fabulous singer. Drugs got in his way, it’s sad he had to die so young
One the most thorough narratives on Lymon’s later years.
