@@cpmhunters9068 You are right. There was a We Are The World 2. BUT, they sang the original song. The artists did not come together all at the same time in the same studio to record in 1 night. Everyone did their own thing & it was pasted together. All the people with their shades on I thought was not cool. And, I LOVE LOVE Cool J! But I think the rapping at the end was horrible! Although Wyclef's screaming/singing was way worse!!! Those artists did not come together with love in their hearts. And We Are The World 2 did not bring In the money the original did.

I think that the biggest arguments about just how spectacular each of the artists singing was is this:
• The artists singing have a total of 100 GRAMMY AWARDS between them
• These same artists have sold over 1 BILLION albums
MJ alone has sold over a billion albums so it’s definitely a loooot more album sales of all of them combined than we can imagine 🔥
One of the greatest musical moments of all time. A room of legends. All these years later, this song still gives me chills and hits emotionally.
Steve Perry kills it as usual. They all did great though.
I came back here to say: it is upsetting, insulting and offensive you are laughing during this video!! There were SOOO MANY GREAT ARTISTS that participated in this project. Just because you don't know all of these artists doesn't mean they aren't great! There were 46 artists to be exact! FORTY SIX RECORDING ARTISTS!!!!!! EVERY SINGLE artist was already famous, had their own careers and their own NUMBER ONE HITS!!!!! Michael Jackson & Lionel Richie wrote this song together THE NIGHT BEFORE it was recorded. AND ALL OF THESE LEGENDARY STARS flew into LA to Kenny Rogers personal recording studio on the same day -were given their parts, practiced their parts then recorded TOGETHER IN ONE NIGHT!!!!!!!!! NO AUTOTUNE, NO voice enhancers, NO attitudes, NO stipulations and NO demands! AND NONE OF THESE ARTISTS GOT PAID for this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THEY DID THIS FOR FREE!!!!!! YES - FOR FREE!!!!!!!!!!!! ALL of the profits went to feed the needy in Africa minus 10% that was given to the homeless in America. Do yourself a favor: 1) Go to Wikipedia. 2) Read ALL of the details about this song about how many awards it won - how many charts it topped - how much money it made etc. 3) LOOK at ALL the STARS that participated. 4) Google every single star and listen to their hits and read ALL of their accomplishments - THEN after you have read ALL 46 stars accomplishments and learned about them and listened to their music - come back and watch this again! Quincy Jones hung a sign on the door that said Leave your egos here at the door. ALL of these LEGENDS came together out of the kindness & goodness of their heart, humble, to simply do something great to help those in need. That will NEVER happen again!!! This WAS A LEGENDARY and truly EPIC event/project that will never be topped!!
I cant figure out the laughing either Bruce Springsteen is a fabulous singer it's very disrespectful
Disgusted with other singers I seriously doubt that there all very talented singers your reaction to this is not great it was done for a good cause but hey we all dont like the same stuff I dont like rap either but not gonna criticize it
Actually this was recorded on the same night is the American music awards and they all decided after the show to go and record this. Some artists left as early as 8:00 in the morning. I just saw a story of the anniversary of this project on CBS this Morning it was rather fascinating!
Did this chart? Oh yeah lol! You couldn't not hear the song hourly on the radio back then it was ridiculous how often it was played. It was number one for quite a while.
😊 I didn't know that Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie wrote this the night before it was recorded so cool love learning new things ty and it has so many wonderful artists in it its one of my favorite songs I knew it was for charity but wasn't sure what one 💖
I don’t think anyone was “disgusted “ with one another. All of these people were solo artists. They are now performing a song “piece meal” if you will. They had to be intently aware of the person they were sharing the mic with. I’ve watched the documentary of this song being made. They were all very respectful. Quincy Jones got a little wound up once because it was difficult to work with that many big personalities at once.
Thats Bruce Springsteen singing with Stevie Wonder.😊
💯
Most people that watch or watching the video don't understand why the video was done they have no clue what it's perpus was to make a change!!!!!🎉🎉🎉😢
I was a teenager living in South East Asia and this song was massive! Global hit
The looks they give each other are even funnier when you knw that behind the scenes M.J and Quncy read them all the riot act about leaving their egos at the door...😂 The LOOKS tho say it all. ❤ Love your work Fabian this was a wonderful project they both worked on hard to bring together. ❤
❤
Did you notice Dan Aykroyd singing in the chorus, right next to Harry Belafonte in the back row? Apparently, he snuck into the recording session as he was friends with Ray Charles and several of the other artists.
He's been friends with Michael for years. He was invited
He was part of The Blues Brothers. He had a right to be there
People forget that this whole thing was Harry Belefonte’s idea. He brought it to Quincy, and declined a solo part taking a back row spot.
@@leannmiller7153Just Midge Ure who actually wrote & organised & produced the UK Feed the World BandAid track, but Bob Geldof got all the praise and recognition 😡
Re: your comment about Michael seeming "disgusted." We need to remember...he was such a perfectionist! Everyone was not going to meet his expectations. All in all, this was such a fantastic video and recording! We've lost so many great voices in this video. I always watch reactions to this video. It's epic!
He also said that about Billy Joel... Ridiculous
Don't like a lot of his comments. This is pure joy.
Yeah, we also need to remember that those "disgusted" clips are taken out of context and largely BS. And as much of a perfectionist that MJ may have been, he was a singer with his own positives and negatives. He was better than many in the room that night and not nearly as good as several others.
It was googled
@sukioki6983you’re sensitive
By The Way: "Bro" is not Bro - that is the GREAT Billy Joel. Google him and see how MANY MANY hits he has!!!! And he was NOT giving Tina Turner the side eye.....he was carefully listening/waiting for his part. EVERY artist came to this project with NO ill will and respect for each other!
Yes. His comment pissed me off.
o man
You know a dumb ass when you hear him….
Maybe, Billy Joel was making eyes at Tina, that gorgeous woman would have me making eyes at her and I don’t ever find my self attracted to women
Anybody who was somebody was a part of this song. This one song brought us all together, in support of Africa.
The Netflix documentary, " The Greatest Night in Pop" details what went into making this happen. Well worth the watch. Oh & they did this in one night...no rehearsal...
wow
This song was HUGE when I was in Junior High.
Maybe you should do a reaction to every principle that participated in the recording. There was a wealth of talent and they all had great careers.
🔥
Additionally: The fact that 46 recording artists came together not including ALL the celebrities who contributed their gifts on their instruments, the message of this song, and the purpose of doing a benefit to simply help those in need. ALL of that is admirable, honorable and AMAZING!!!!!! If this didn't touch you in some way you are not human! I was around when this came out - I cried the first time I watched it and I still 40 years later cry when I see it. THIS WAS EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
There were 46 talented artist that represented many genres who took part in this one day collaboration. They were not paid. They were told to leave their egos at the door. This record reached #1 and won several rewards. There will never be another moment like this one.
💯
We Are The World topped music charts throughout the world and became the fastest-selling U.S. pop single in history. "We Are the World" was certified quadruple platinum, becoming the first single to be certified multi-platinum. Its awards include four Grammy Awards, one American Music Award, and a People's Choice Award. I’m guessing that the song probably did make the Top 100’s of several charts. I know I personally wore my first copy out from playing it over and over and had to buy another one. That was long before I saw the video. I knew most of them just from their voices alone. Kim Karnes’ Bette Davis Eyes and anything Stevie, Paul Simon, Ray, Kenny Rogers, MJ and… who am I kidding… just about all of them, we’re constants on my record player. We were still buying records in the 80’s even though we were transitioning to cassettes. I skipped over the 8-Track version of any music whenever possible. They were awful. I enjoyed your reaction. Also, without solos, Harry Belafonte in the background with Dan Ackroyd, Bette Midler, Smokey Robinson, The Pointer Sisters, the rest of the Jackson brothers and Latoya and lots more. What a treasure that is still reaching new generations thank to RUclips and technology in general.
This song was released just like any other single but instead of the profits going to the record company, it went to the Non Profit USA For Africa Charity for famine relief in Africa. All the millions made went to famine relief😮😊The song was #1 on the Billboard Singles Chart for 7 weeks
My understanding it was filmed in one evening after an music awards show. Every singer was asked to leave their ego at the door.
You're the first one to say artist looked "disgusted" during some solos. Rhats actually offensive. Just because you pause the video at a certain point doesn't mean its true. Also, a lot of talking
Pretty sure MJ was not disgusted Why would he be ? You can’t even begin to imagine how complex. There were concerns on how to pull this off without a hitch. A huge amount of work went into this. Pretty sure there were a lot of hitches . As being disgusted no . Poor choice of words. Never recorded to be a chart topper but to bring awareness of a starving people .
O no it’s a reaction video God forbid I talk 😂
@PattyLiskdo you research
Earlier Bob Geldof,Irish singer and member of the Boomtown Rats got some of the top artists from Great Britain and recorded Feed the World after watching a BBC report on the Ethiopian Famine. He would later put together London side of the bicoastal benefit concert Live Aid from England Wembly Stadium and from Pennsylvania
and the pinnacle there was Queen - see it here on youtube.Estimate 1.9billioa saw it on the2 stadiums and tv via satellite. Queen stole the show.
That's Springsteen with Stevie.
I didn't like that he laughed when he came on the screen... Didn't like this reaction
I got you too, Boo! Starts off soloists in order of appearance: Lionel Richie, Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon (of Simon and Garfunkel), Kenny Rogers, James Ingram, Tina Turner, Billy Joel, Michael Jackson, Diana Ross (quick duet there between those two, Diana watched over Michael like a big sister), Dionne Warwick (Whitney Houston's aunt), Willie Nelson, Al Jarreau (famous for beginning beatboxing and his alcohol use during this particular session of music. He also broke out into The Banana Boat song in honor of Harry Bellafonte, who was in attendance in the choir beside Dan Aykroyd in the back row. Harry suggested the song to help starving people in Africa. The whole choir sang the song. You can find it on RUclips Easily. Also, in 2010 they did 'We Are The World Haiti' if you wanna check that out, also star-studded.) Back to the lineup, Then we have Bruce Springsteen singing the chorus, Kenny Loggins of Top Gun/Footloose soundtrack fame, Steve Perry (lead singer of Journey influenced STRONGLY by Sam Cooke), Daryl Hall of Hall & Oates, Michael again for the bridge, then Huey Lewis (Back the Future soundtrack), Cyndi Lauper (Girls Just Wanna Have Fun) and Kim Carnes (Bette Davis Eyes) -- after that, the choir, then serious fills by Bob Dylan, Ray Charles, a duet with Bruce Springsteen Stevie Wonder, and James Ingram takes us home. I did that from memory but others that were there that night were Waylon Jennings (He left over some ego bullshit), Bette Midler, Lindsay Buckingham, Quincy Jones directed the whole thing. It's amazing, they could only film it THAT NIGHT, which was the night that Lionel Richie ALSO hosted the American Music Awards and swept the damn thing winning I believe SIX awards that night...they all stayed up all night to record. Everything from lighting to crew was volunteer. They all ordered Roscoe's in the wee hours, chicken and waffles. At the end, when everyone had left, Diana Ross stayed and began crying. When Quincy's right hand man asked her what was wrong she said 'I don't want this to be over!' The note on the door for the artists when they arrived late, late at night after the AMA's read: Check Your Ego At The Door -- courtesy of Quincy Jones.
~Expert :)
Thanks! Much love!
I remember when It air live..
💯
Netflix has a documentary called The Greatest Night in Pop hosted by Lionel Richie to commemorate the 40th anniversary of this "never again to happen" moment in music history! Its fantastic! If you haven't seen it, what are you waiting for!!! ❤
This was one of the biggest selling songs ever
Dude, do your homework before you make assumptions. This wasn't just any standard song recording. And, yes, this song made #1.
damn no way. thats the whole point of a first time reaction numnut
One more point all of these people In this video are true artists and singers they all can hold their own weight they don't need studio help 😮!!!!!!!😊
Duh
This single brought 46 recording artists together for this! FORTY SIX!!!!!!! AND these FORTY SIX recording artists were already successful and had their own number one hits!!!!! ALL FORTY SIX of these recording artists flew in to this secret location and did this single in ONE NIGHT!!!!!!! This will NEVER happen again!! ALL 46 of these artists came together with no attitudes, no stipulations, no demands to humbly and truthfully do something great to help those in need!!!! TOTALLY EPIC!!!!
Oh yes, that was the era of great music. I do not see that kind of talent now. I'm so glad I was there in my 20s. God be with you all.
😂
Each of these singers are fantastic. You should react to each and everyone of them.
He only knows the black ones
@@garnet0101 I had that feeling especially when he didn’t know Bruce Springsteen! 😢
@@mspfinneyI didnt like when he laughed at Bruce hes very talented great singer
@garnet0101o yes your right butplug
@user-ie2hp9sl2oyou’re soft
The guy who had the raspy voice that you wanted to know who he is was Bruce Springsteen. It was Billy Joel that was looking at Tina Turner. Also saw Dionne Warwick, Huey Lewis, Cindy Lauper,Hall and Oates, Ray Parker Jr, Willie Nelson,Kim Carnes others I saw and recognized but can't remember to name.
Ooo
I'm not sure how well versed anyone is in the voices of a lot of these singers, but when the main singers are doing background and the choir is singing, those powerful voices you here on top of everyone else are The Pointer Sisters. Amazing singers.
Prince did not participate in this EPIC project because Prince was trying to make specific demands so Quincy Jones, Michael Jackson & Lionel Richie said no thank you! And Prince did not participate. He was said to have later in life regretted that choice.
These were the GOAT’s of the 80’s. I can remember everyone waiting for it to be released on MTV. We all watched it when it was released. My two favorites are Ray Charles and Dione Warwick.
Yes 🔥
Way back when this first premiered I sat with my brother, I knew every name but 2. Al Jarreau and Bob Dylan. I'd say I did pretty good.
We are the world of one for Grammy awards, one American music award, and a People’s choice award
One of the most remarkable things about this collaboration - it could NEVER work with today's great signers. They would never put their ego's aside to make something like this work.
Idk about that
Lionel, Stevie, Paul Simon, Kenny Rogers, James Ingram, Tina, Billy Joel, Michael, Diana,Dionne Warwick,Willie Nelson,Al Jarreau, Bruce Springsteen,
Kenny Loggins,
Steve Perry,Darryl Hall, Michael, Huey Lewis, Cindy Lauper,
Kim Carnes then Bob Dylan and Ray Charles.
U yap to much
👋 Yappy boys need loving too 😅❤
Well, it is his channel
It’s called a reaction poindexter if you don’t want talking that’s what the original videos for 😂
Another point: Out of the 46 special souls that graciously came together for this EPIC project 8 of them have since passed since this was done.
rip
4:23 The BOSS
This hit top 100 in the first 4 weeks, the guy with Stevie is Bruce Springsteen. They also came together to do a live TV telethon raising $. Eddie did go to the telethon. Fact is i dont know many other then Quincy or BB King that could get this much talent in one room.
thanks
this song was played simultaneously worldwide, never to be heard again....😮😮
If a record makes $80,000,000 it HAS to chart. I have a copy of the vinyl single even though I don’t remember buying it. Everyone did. That’s how you contributed.
😂😂
There was sign on the door coming in that said leave your ego out side. Only one person left this Waylon Jennings. It did chart on Bill board
🥇
No. USA for Africa is not a group. USA stands for United Supporting Artists for Africa.
FYI, THIS SONG DEFINITELY MADE NO.1 ON THE BILLBOARD HOT 100!
ok bet
@@FortWorthFabian We Are the World" by USA for Africa reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart on April 13, 1985, and remained there for four weeks! What do I win?
@htbald1😂thanks
Bruse Springsteen was singing with Stevie Wonder
thanks
No one was payed they all did it for free
That would be unheard of today. It’s all about crap music, disgusting, disrespectful, lyrics, and money, and jealousy. They’re always getting shot at too.
🤦♂️
This was recorded in ONE NIGHT!!!
This was so very awesome! Love your reaction!
thanks
There is a video that lists the names of each artist solo
They started recording around midnight and finished around 6am.after recording an award show. Prince was asked but refused because it was a Michael Jackson project
It was NOT a Michael Jackson project
As a HS freshman in 1985-1986, this ranked everywhere, from the billboards, to the talent shows, to the bathrooms. The first 2000 times it was awesome, the next 500 times it was cool, after that I was looking for my daddy’s Remington 870 12ga to unalive myself.
So you know what the internet is! You have a google machine it is ok to look up on Wikipedia a song and find out about it so you know something about a gathering of the greatest group of singers ever put together oh and why! It is ok to go into something with a little knowledge!
That’s my point 😂
Þheres a recent documentary on the lead-up to and the recording session. It was done overnight after the grammy awards ceremony at A & M recording studios on La Brea ave.
😎
Wendy, I see what you’re talking about!!!
Long time ago. Better times
Facts
After watching over 20-25 people reacting to this video, I haven't once heard anyone notice the the all but Janet Jackson of the Jackson including Rebie and Latoya Jackson was there.
🤦♂️
The white guy you asked about is Bruce Springsteen
Bet
Funny you should say there was a lot of ego. There was NO ego!!!! Quincy Jones hung a sign on the door that said Leave Your Ego here, outside the studio.
i googled it dude chill
😊 it also won the song of the year. Best pop performance by a duo or group with vocal and best music video short form.
I wonder how many Grammy awards were sitting on this stage. Btw Waylon Jennings is in the credits but isn’t in the video…he walked off and it apparently helped the video for pr reasons.
I pre-ordered this album from Tower records in San Francisco. We tried and we are still trying. 😊
“For those who live under a rock and don’t know” … don’t be so hard on yourself brother, you can’t know everything! ❤️

Thank goodness for the sanity in this comment
I remember the famine in Africa. There were thousands of children that died. Everytime I hear this song it brings tears to my eyes.
I remember most of these great artist that gave of their time and talent for a human cause. I know that Lionel Richie and Kenny Roger's are good friends. It was produced in Kenny's studio. Quincy Jones conducted and placed the artist together as he wanted.
I was disappointed and shocked at your reaction.
But my opinion doesn't matter
You should check out Ray Charles and Willie Nelson singing Seven Spanish Angels. Awe but you probably won't like Willie Nelson, he's white.
😢
I think it’s amazing to see so many superstars come together & u don’t see any egos. But one documentary said they had a sign on the door that said Leave the egos at the door! Let’s do this for charity. Not sure if that’s true.
thats what i read online
The only one I couldn't name was Kim Carnes.
Dude, they were told to leave their egos outside!!! You obviously didn’t get that memo!!! Shame on you…
no way
Be the end of 1985 it rank #1…….
I believe it is amazing all these artists came together. I hope Billboard was not top of mind.
Bruh
Top or the Billboard Top 100 for 4 weeks

James Ingram not Peabo Bryson. James is one of those who have regrettably died.
Not sure where you saw ego in this…looked like it was left at the door to me. I saw people who were enjoying being a part of such an amazing project and a few intent looks of people who were taking it extra serious because they wanted to be sure to do a good job….but zero ego. I’m very familiar with every face in that video…if there was ego, I would have recognized it!!

Quincy put who he thought sounded good together!!! So if you want to laugh go ahead!!! 😢

USA for Africa was NOT a group/band. That stands for United Supporting Artists for Africa
bruh i wikipedia'd it
No ego in that room in 1985. Sad that Prince wasn't there or Eddie
Bruce, comes in like a lion that want to kill it... Doesn't want to do anything else, just puting fire one kerosene.
🔥
Thr one singing with Stevie is Bruce Springsteen known as the boss. You also have the voice, perry, Paul Simon, Garfunkel, hall and oates, huey Lewis Cydi Lauper, Kenny logging. Other greats. Prince wanted to play the the guitar. He said no. Billy Joel the piano man, is the one looking at tina.
thanks
AND these 46 artists who came together for this project to help others did this FOR FREE!!!!!! NONE of them were paid for this single!!!!!
Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder did do a televised show together where they were both n separate pianos facing each other as they sang. It was incredible!!!
💯
Elvis Presley.. best singer ever to me.. check him out.. nothing technical.. he sang from his soul. fact.
I challenge you to go to Wikipedia and look up We Are The World and learn ALL the details of this EPIC project. I then challenge you to listen to each of these 46 artists and their own hits THEN come back to this and listen to this again!!
facts
Reports was wrong and all scenes with was not discussed. He like some of the other ones were looking at Dan Akroyd funny because Akroyd thought he should of been down front.
Michael and Richie told everyone to check their attitudes and pride at the front door. So no Michael wasn't disgusted with anyone. Stevie wonder was asked to do a verse with Bruce. All was written by Mike and Richie
Well... Thats how dumb the generation nowadays

They really wanted Prince but he was a no show.
Did you really say who dude and make fun of the incredible Billy Joel?

I don’t think there is ANYTHING funny about this song. If MJ was disgusted I think that seems unjustified considering that all of these artists gave their all for charity without accepting any pay.

It’s called a reaction genius
Incredibly rude to be mocking Ray Charles.
Of course you would call it mocking . Quit being soft sweetheart
The clueless, disrespectful ignoramuses, including some black comedians are known for mocking Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder. Funny I don't recall seeing any white people doing this.
Stop looking for negatives around corner
Susan gland grow up and get some subcribers
Hip hoppers can’t possibly understand. Real artists back then had big hearts. Now, there’s not much talent that’s not fake and it’s ALL about money. Michael Jackson was NOT disappointed. Is that a rumor?
