That is such a tough choice! But at least now, 13 years later, we know all three are stars. Although I did not know Jessie Buckley was such an amazing singer.
@@dandare2586yeh this musical is based on the film oliver which is not really anything the book. But they could have changed it. Having a young Nancy was what ALW and the other guy wanted. The public obviously stuck with the more mature version. I didn't like Jodi. She could sing. But wasn't captured by her performances really.
Jessie was so lucky not to win - she used her profile from this show to develop her acting talents - went to RADA as is now arguably one of the best screen actresses around. She can still sing and combined these two wonderful gifts to score a BAFTA nomination for best actress for her stunning performance in WILD ROSE.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS SHOW. Me and my Mom absolutely adored watching it. Thank you so much for putting the whole series on. Been a pleasure to see again. What I love as well is that all the final three had success after the show. And the final 12 as well. I miss these kind of shows so much. Loved all the others as well.
although samantha came third, she still managed to become nancy on the uk tour in 2011! and imo, i think she became the most successful out of all the contestants *edit:* coming back to this comment from hearing jessie on ken bruces' radio show about wild rose, starring herself, and seeing a few mention it; i think both her and samantha have benefited the most from appearing on the show. however their success has been different. samantha, after finishing the show, has received many big roles on stage - literally straight after each other - most notably cabaret (sally), oliver, les mis (eponine, where she appeared in the film version as her aswell!), chicago (velma), last 5 years (cathy), and is currently starring on broadway as vivian in pretty woman! which is why i originally said that she was the most successful - i kept seeing her get all these roles, where she was praised for them. jessie, on the other hand, went back to drama school, we didn't see her much, and after graduating she began playing small roles on stage, then in 2016 we saw her on tv again in war and peace, which then roles have gotten bigger, like with her currently starring in the film wild rose. she went quiet for a few years, and took her time learning and that has definitely paid off with the great reviews i'm hearing! *jessie and samantha have both come a long way from this show, taking different paths to their success now (one staying in the spotlight, the other going back to study and then returning to it). both are incredibly talented and their successes are well deserved, and i can't wait to see more of them in the future!!*
Jessie Buckley has had rave reviews in Beast (2017) a critically praised feature film , and has lead roles in BBC's Taboo and War and Peace. Definitively the most successful!
i actually adore the three of them. sam’s my favourite eponine, jessie’s my favourite sally, and jodie is my favourite lady of the lake. but they’re ALL my favourite nancy. god i wish the three of em coulda won ❤️
Jodie Prenger has had success in her own way. Doing what she wants and enjoys, she also still unfortunately faces the prejudices of being 'plus sized' (i.e. not size zero)
I find it interesting, and maybe sad that the 'Nancy' who was dropped in this episode..went on and still has a career, from Eponine in the West End and the films version of "Les Miserables" not to mention doing Velma Kelly in "Chicago", +++, and the final 'Nancy' that would lose, Jessie Buckley, has become somewhat a household name in so many places on stage, screen, etc. From her acting in "Judy" to the song "Glasgow" to her amazing performance in "Cabaret"...she is the stand out who happened to lose this competition. Ms. Prenger, beyond this, I have not heard from since she did this and the subsequent show, "Oliver"! Makes me wonder if either Ms Barks or Ms Buckley had won this competition if they would have gone on to have the careers they do, today, October '22. I don't know why but I doubt it. Yes, they might have chosen the right Nancy for the image that ALW had in mind for this production but..... other roles? Even doing Nancy, we have to remember that Nancy, the one that Dickens wrote about, was probably a teenager and more the age of Samantha Barks than Prenger, but with lots of rather tragic experiences under her belt. I don't know...it is something I was thinking but I doubt that if either Barks or Buckley had won, I doubt they would be where they are, today! Where is Prenger? It might be my living in a cave but haven't seen or heard of her since "Oliver" except for, I believe "Coronation Street"? No more singing? Sad. She was good, too.
Jessie should of been Nancy ! Jodie was amazing too don’t get me wrong but I think Jessie would of fitted that role better. She even looked like a Nancy
doesn't she right! She was in caroline or change last year. she had a really great part in it and was a cover for one of the main characters. She's got a decent career in the industry now for sure
If a teacher made those same comments in a classroom...it would be on the front of a newspaper. Inappropriate behaviour under any circumstances. And the fact that his lordship is worth more than 900million pounds is no excuse!
It feels like Andrew and Cameron both wanted Jessie. They wanted the heart breaker, cos Nancy's story is heartbreaking. I watched Jodie play Nancy. She was good, but she didn't break my heart. I think Jessie should have won.
Think Jessie was robbed but look at her now think Jessie as the last laugh 😆 she’s just wonderful beautiful singer and talented professional performer .Ireland for ever she a star 🌟 in my eyes.😅
Just shows how wrong these shows get it....don’t like John barrowman (too full of himself and limited talent in my opinion) ⭐️Jessie is such a major star now ⭐️

I LOVE Sam but maybe this time is a very Nancy song and I do think she was the weakest singing it in this trio. She is amazing but the other two were better at this and also at the Oliver duo so I get why she went.

Amazing to think that Jessie has just won an Olivier for Cabaret!
Very cool that so many years later Jessie Buckley played Sandy Bowles in Cabaret! Kerry's own!!
That is such a tough choice! But at least now, 13 years later, we know all three are stars. Although I did not know Jessie Buckley was such an amazing singer.
Jodie is Nancy. Embodies that rough, rawness and life experience. Jessie is an amazing talent as well.
Exactly. Jodie had that. The rest seemed too young to play Nancy. Know what I mean?
Not if you consider that Nancy was just 17 in Dicken's Oliver Twist

The musical is not based on the film. It was well established as a musical way before the film came along.

Agreed she is also my favourite Éponine in Les miserables
And was also Eponine in Les Miserables in London, the 25th Anniversary Concert and the 2012 film version

I'm curious what happened to Keisha after the show. Although she didn't get the best comments from the judges I thought she had a good stage presence.

In hindsight it's kind of gross how Andrew Lloyd Webber keeps sexualising Samantha. She was only 17. And she looks young, too. 🤢
IKR it’s so gross bleh🤮
Barry is worse and yes it is horrible they all keep talking about her looks rather than how good a performer she is, creepy
I agree, especially Barry, makes me feel really uncomfortable watching

How Ironic, Jessie meeting Liza then to play her mother in the movie Judy years later.
She didn’t play her mother, she played her mothers assistant, is that what you meant? ❤️
