Thank you. It is heart breaking. I did have a miscarriage and I did have caffeine. This next time I am NOT having caffeine at all. This video helped me confirm this.
I'm sorry to hear that when I was pregnant with my daughter who is 6 years old now I had a small cup of coffee every morning and she is healthy very smart thank goodness I guess just depends on the person I'm moroccan and every woman in morocco drinks tea everyday while pregnant so I'm not really sure lol
I live in Seattle and i couldn5 imagine giving up my coffee in the morning. But, currently trying to cut back before i try to conceive. Im adding more decaf coffee into my normal cofffee to get used to less caffeine. Caffeine withdrawal are horrible.
I had a miscarriage 3 weeks back when I was 5 weeks 6 days pregnant. I used to drink 4-6 cup of coffee/tea per day each day everyday since last 7-8 years. And I strongly believe after doing so much micro analysis and all tests and scan that it was coz of caffeine I had this miscarriage.
I don't think prior heavy use of coffee would affect a current pregnancy. Heavy caffeine use DURING pregnancy is associated with MC, but not before pregnancy. If you got yourself down to 1 to 2 cups/day while you were pregnant, prior caffeine use is likely unrelated, and your MC was caused by something else. Very sorry for your loss. I've been there. Hoping for answers and future success for you 🙏
I had a miscarriage 4 weeks ago and I think smoking weed, stress, and / or drinking monster energy drinks was the cause. I am now allowing myself one coffee drink (a Starbucks frappacinno) per day and trying to up my natural energy I drink alot of water and a big cup of whole milk with 2 tablespoons of spirolina (superfood that has alot of health benefits one being fertility and I heard can be good during pregnancy but I'm gonna ask my doctor after I get pregnant if I do which I hope I do )
Thank you for this video. As a nurse I tend to rely on my trusty coffee or Dr Pepper a day to get me through. My husband and I are about about to start our IVF journey and always wondered about my caffeine intake. I tried to stop it all cold turkey and just could not handle it. I have however made a deal with myself to now focus on keeping it to a cup of coffee or a can of soda, not both every few days and thus far it has been fine. Love your videos!
Ive switched to green tea in preparation for IVF journey. Mint tea in morning & green tea IF need in afternoon up to 2 tea pouches.Thank goodness I WFH and can move slow like a snail on those hard mornings.
I was actually told to not have any green tea at all after my Embryo Transfer, as green tea is heat-inducing and in ayurveda, any foods that are heat-inducing can harm the pregnancy. 2 cups of tea or coffee with milk are my limit as milk reduces the thermogenic properties of black tea/coffee.
If you spread the coffee out throughout the day, say, 1 iced coffee that takes you 3-5 hours to drink, does that cause as much harm? I’ve been coffee free for about 4 months, but recently started drinking it again, and I just love the flavor 😅
Very interesting when you talk about Eastern medicine. Believe it or not, we were trying to have a baby about 9 months. I checked my ovulation every months, making sure I had a peak and trying to conceive around that times but nothing happened. One of my friends recommended me to Eastern doctor, we were skeptical but I convinced my husband to go with me. The doctor checked our wrists to read the beats or something, asking a few questions then gave us medicines to take. 3 weeks later, I found out that I’m pregnant.
Thank you once again for decreasing my anxiety during my tww😂❤. Did a transfer last week and will test on thursday. Ive been having a home latte/day, had two without thinking one day last week😬😬... hopefully all is good in the end🤞. Might cut it off to make sure...
Thanks for posting the video! I'm curious about your perspective of nausea as a possible confounding variable between caffeine and miscarriage. I've heard that some research suggests that a decreased interest in drinking coffee in pregnancy may be due to an increase of nausea, which is negatively associated with miscarriage. Do you think nausea explains the connection between caffeine consumption and miscarriage?
Curious about this too. It’s been observed that women experiencing nausea happened to be less likely to miscarry. Could it be that when experiencing nausea people are less likely to consume caffeine, and therefore there’s actually no link between caffeine and miscarriage (as women not drinking caffeine for other reasons are already less likely to miscarry)?
Thanks for this information. I knew about limiting caffeine during pregnancy. But just in case, I'll limit it in advance as well. I love coffee, ut I'm thankfully not addicted. Better safe than sorry.
Hi doc,I'm from Philippines, 41 years old me and my husband trying to concieve,we're married almost 2 years,I'm worried that I have infertility problem,I never been pregnant, my husband has 2 kids,Im coffee lover for 15years ,but I already stop drinking coffee since married ,any advice u can give me, what else I can do to concieve, is folic acid can help ?
This is really interesting. Do you have any data on women with ADHD who take prescribed ADHD medication - Concerta; its a stimulant. Would this have the same result? If I would have known this as struggling with fertility I may have declined treatment for ADHD.
Concerta is a class C pregnancy medication meaning not enough research to guarantee safety but take if needed for mental and physical health. Talk to your doctor about your personal situation and best wishes to you❤️
Also, should you count decaf coffee toward your total? I read that decaf still had a certain amount of caffeine in it. I drink about 6 oz of regular coffee in the AM and then 6 oz of decaf in the late afternoon/evening. I have a tsp of green tea powder in my lunch shake and probably 2-4 squares of dark chocolate some days.
Thank you so much for watching! I have a lot of information on this topic. Please click on my website drlorashahine.com - there you can find links to my books at amazon.com, RUclips channel, Baby or Bust Fertility podcast, blog, Instagram, Tiktok and more!
Thank you for this video, i always been wondering about this since TTC. I had a chemical pregnancy last tuesday...and now i wonder if my large cup of coffee a day caused it.
Probably more anxious people and people with low caffeine tolerance shouldn’t probably have one cup of decaf or something like that 😅 that would be me ☝🏼😅
If eastern medicine says NO caffeine. I would trust that over western medicine studies . 😅🙌🏼 love the integrative approach ❤

This is a great idea for a future video. Thank you for watching Ashley!
I never take coffee or tea but still facing infertility

Hi so Coffee make difficult to get pregnant 😮 iam trying but I think that I need to not drink more because I like Starbucks so no more 😢 .

I just don’t like coffee in general. Thanks for sharing.

I am very happy for you❤️
Was just thinking about this as my hubby and I just started TTC for our second baby 💕
I will start IVF in October but i quit coffee 2 days ago. Im drinking 3 cups a day of decaf Tasters choice
Can you talk about what procedures can you do like- Microblading, facials, and massage
This is a great suggestion that I can discuss in a future video. Thank you for watching!

This sounds like more of an association and less of a causation. Very interesting thought but I haven’t seen research into that link
I would have liked to see medical journals or studies proving this theory from Eastern Medicine. I trust you but I need medical proof.
How about caffeine in skincare?
Thanks for this information. I knew about limiting caffeine during pregnancy. But just in case, I'll limit it in advance as well. I love coffee, ut I'm thankfully not addicted. Better safe than sorry.
Sounds like the right choice for you❤️❤️

Thank you!

You’re welcome! So glad it helped you❤️

How about herbal green tea? How much can I consume of it?
Check what you’re drinking but most sources say one cup is 30-50mg of caffeine
Also, should you count decaf coffee toward your total? I read that decaf still had a certain amount of caffeine in it.

Can you please do this video for women who are pregnant? Is caffeine ok during pregnancy?

Good thing I never drink coffee. I’m more a tea drinker.
