This guy has it packed. I own my smart since 2013 bought it new with 16 miles. Done these maintenance all the time. Especially the transmission fluid. So far all is good. 87.000 city miles and not so much on highway"On this end". 😁 Miami FL.
This is perfect. I've been tossing around the idea just today of getting a backup car for when I'm doing maintenance on my Mazda3 if it's out of commission. Exactly the video I needed to see how maintenance is on a smart car and if it would be a head ache or not. Thank you for all your videos!
the transmission gear oil, 75w90, needs to be GL4 for the brass parts in the transmission. GL5 oil is corrosive to yellow metals. I would love to see how you dropped the engine. Have tried changing out the air filter through the maintenance hatch and was not successful. I know it can be done but not easy.
I have a video on dropping the engine, it’s on some service position bolts from Mercedes’ but can be done using a jack and the stock subframe bolts as well.
Only thing I recommend is to loosen the fill plug on gearbox before you drain it, just in case you empty the oil and then can't get into the fill plug to refill
Good video although on some videos they say to remove the fill plug first on the gearbox because if for any reason you couldn’t remove it or you damaged it you would not be able to drive the car with a drained gearbox. Just a thought.
Thank you for great videos! I would love to see how you fix a sunshade that is not retracting well anymore. I have a 2007 model (451) with a plastic top, and having issues with the "ropes" that are supposed to retract the shade cloth back to a roll.
I’ve been having trouble with my sunshade lately too. Maybe I’ll make a video and take it all apart that way at least we can all see what’s going on in there.
Sir. May I ask what is the brand of the engine oil? I can not find the same oil with yours, I searched formula 1 sae 0w-40, but google only pop up the Mobil 1 oil. Thanks
Hello, I don’t use any specific brand, I often use the Mobil1. I specifically look for the VW505.00 specification. Around here it’s normally branded as “European formula”.
Am i the only one that got a European star type drain plug for the oil plug? I been looking at videos trying to find what the size of the oil drain plug star bit is so i don't have buy a whole new set of them just to use that one but everybody seems to have an American 24mm socket on it? What the fuck man
@@PBGarage That seems to be the case, i might spend the 14 bucks to buy the original plug back from eBay after getting this one out. I don't know about having star type bolts in high torque places, feels like one had slip and I'll be in a world of sht

Thanks man good to hear you’ve been loving yours too!
I changed the filters, engine oil and spark plugs on mine and it runs so sweet now. It's a joy to drive on a decent road.
Made a huge difference on mine too!

They’re a great backup car / second car. Glad you enjoy the videos!

5:33- Loosen the fill screw before you drain the oil. If the fill screw is stucked, you can still use your car if you’re in a hurry.

That’s a really good tip!

@@PBGarage Amazing! You are a jukebox for videos... 😂

Glad it was helpful! Thanks for the feedback!

how about cleaning the throttle valve ? is it something useful for 451 ?
I’ve never done it. All the 451 motors I’ve had apart have been clean as a whistle.
Ottimo ok 👍👍👍👍👍❤️
Thanks!
But *HOW* do I you shove a 200+ HP Hayabusa engine in this? And where do you put the turbo?
How do you slam bigger tires?
C'mon help a guy out 😢
Stay tuned we’re getting there lol

If you’re in North America then someone definitely swapped it out on you.

Always remove the fill plug first.
Yep good advice.
