Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days (read "Kingdom Hearts Three-Five-Eight Days over Two") is an RPG developed by Square Enix and published by Square Enix for the Nintendo DS. It focuses on the life of Roxas between the end of Kingdom Hearts and the beginning of Kingdom Hearts II. It explores the time from Roxas's creation, to his daily life in Organization XIII, and finally until his confrontation with Riku that leads to his placement in the Simulated Twilight Town.

My favorite aspect of limit breaks in 358 is the way they introduce and tutorilalize it: they have lexaeus punch you in the face to drop you to 1hp

1. As everyone says/knows, this game needs a remake BADLY because it was so damn good.
2. I'LL NEVER UNDERSTAND WHY LUXORD WASN'T THE CRIT CHARACTER OVER SAIX WHEN HE'S LITERALLY A GAMBLER AND THE HIGH-RISK, HIGH-REWARD THEME WOULD FIT SO WELL!

Lexord may not have the crit, but he has the most powerful Limit Break, assuming you land on the right slot.
Ahhh, if you press A with Demyx in a rhythm, you get stronger attacks haha, there are other mechanics for each charactor, would've loved to see all the different versions of the limits!
Larxene out there almost deleting anti-Saix while Xenmas barely chips his HP.
Honestly 358/2 needs a proper remake so this multiplayer can be enjoyed with online
The problem with Days Characters is that you really need to know how to use them for the best results.

Game was a bit underrated, but really needed a full controller setup. Unfortunately SE would rather give the Switch another recap game in the form of a rhythm game. Can't even port 1 and 2. Claiming it couldn't handle two ps2 games.

You did the Final Limit for Luxord wrong. You were supposed to match the two cards while they were hearts to get the biggest, strongest blasts of magic.
Yeah I figured, never used Luxord before this so it was a little hard to pull off, especially with Saix constantly poking at you.

I think ya did the Limit for Demyx wrong too but it's tricky trying to rhythmically match button presses with that flashing indicator light so I don't get it right often either. You can tell you're doing it right if you can get four pillars of water with each button press and in Final Limit, you're creating water explosions. In any case, the emulation quality is phenomenal and it makes me REALLY want a remake of Days with like KH3 graphics, world design, and gameplay... Or at least emulate the game myself to play it with less pixels.

@@steamedrice97 You forgot to mention that Axel's & Vexen are similar in a way that their projectiles travel farther depending on how long you hold the button down. Mickey's, Goofy's, and Lexaeus's limit break behave the same way too. Hold the button down for more powerful strikes.
Xemnas's limit break is not just moving around with it. His nul beams spread and then focus on the target infront of you. You gotta move accordingly to the beams if you want to damage your enemies a lot.

Sora and Marluxia's Limits require right timing to be at their best.
In the base limit, Sora will fire more projectiles when A is pressed just as the orb is at its biggest.
For Marluxia, pressing A when the thorn flashes will cause his attack to have increased damaged + insta-kill weaker Heartless, the timing is correct when the attack is accompanied with flower petals.
Dual-Wielding Roxas, Zexion, Xigbar and Demyx's limits can be canceled with B then restarted with A during the limit duration. This is in the event you need to change positions.
Like Saïx's limit, Xaldin's has a weaker auto-attack built into it (Aero shield)
I really hope Kingdom Hearts 3's ReMIND DLC lets us play as the Guardians of Light and the True Organization XIII. That'd be so awesome.

Yo I can’t wait to play as Yozora and summon a astronomy ball around me, create a vortex ball near the center, teleport while shooting lasers, change the astronomy ball to a padded cell then summon kamikaze mechs at my enemy while I cloak and hide, then clone myself 72 times each attacking all at once, and finally bring back said vortex ball from earlier but only now unleashed to be even stronger now that I’ve bought enough time for it to gather energy while I try and repeatedly teleport, pushing enemies closer to my soon to detonate singularity every single time I get low on health 🤣

Mission mode is technically an extension of holo-missions from the main story. It makes sense to be able to emulate the characteristics of the main trio and deceased members of the Org.
Well, when I commented this, I didn't mean it like it was a problem. I thought it was really cool these two were even remotely playable.

To summarize each Limit Break:
Mash "A": Xigbar, Xaldin, Vexen, Axel, Larxene, Roxas, Xion, Donald, Riku
Hold "A": Lexaeus, Goofy, The King/Mickey
Timing "A": Demyx, Marluxia, Sora
Non-A: Xemnas, Zexion, Roxas (DW)
Dependent: Saix
Xemnas: Simple: Move Xemnas near to the enemy to deal damage. During Final Limit, the beams come from a 45 degrees angle to 90 degrees then come to a cross in front of him and back before it ends.
Xigbar: Mash at your single target. Note that Xigbar can remain at the air if he triggers this too, but otherwise not that much of an effective tactic with his shots not being homing.
Xaldin: Just mash.
Vexen: Mash. But note that Vexen needs minor distance to hit.
Lexaeus: Hold, once you see an aura, release for a stronger spin swing. FL will need to just see the rock surrounding his weapon to slam in front of him.
Zexion: RNG rain around him. He can do it in air, but the hits will only range to his area; not much of beneath him, unlike Dual-Wield Roxas.
Saix: Time his A near the enemies to deal damage in the direction. Uncontrollable, but worth it when he does hit.
Axel: Mash A. Note that holding A will time his explosions.
Demyx: This is pretty the most hectic ones, but hit A rhythmically (seeing the flashes on him as he walks slowly) to create 1-4 pillars around him. FL adds a blast of water around him with every 4 pillars.
Luxord: Though patience, but it's actually more simple. During LB, the X is usually, or mostly the 1st card. Wait for it to pass, then hit. For FL, flash & Heart, double X and then double heart.
Marluxia: Time the As when the ring around him flashes.
Larxene: Mash.
Roxas/Xion: Mash
Roxas (DW): Like Zexion, but even hits below him.
Riku: Mash.
Donald: Mash.
Goofy: Hold. Like Lexaeus, charging prior to FL will allow him to still charge to FL-level attack.
The King: Hold. Like Lexaeus and Goofy, charging prior to FL will allow him to still charge to FL-level attack.
Sora: Time it when you see the flash. That's all there is to it.

Anyone else miss the possibility of a Multiplayer Kingdom Hearts? Hell, even if it was just an arena mode, that would be more than plenty to keep people entertained while we see where the story goes next.

Imagine that 358/2 Days got the same 3D HD game much like how Chain of Memories got Re:Chain of Memories.
Ok. I finished again KH 358/2 days few days ago because it's simple to get materials and spells, even munny (if you know how to save them for powerful keyblades).
In mission mode I tried again all the characters and I can say what character is effectively strong only testing the limit attack, so:
Xemnas: limit is powerful against multiple enemies but you can't jump, final limit makes him weak on bosses and multiple enemies;
Marluxia: WEAK, USELESS;
Luxord and Sora: TIMING is important/essential/crucial, you must get circles ● on normal limit and hearts ♡ on both your cards in final limit if you want to do insane damage, for Sora it's same thing but you must have perfect timing;
Vexen and Axel: press A button for attack, if you press and release A button more distance will be covered until the limit attack explodes...;
Dual keyblade Roxas and Zexion: both can do autolimit, but you can interrupt the limit pressing B button, if you press A they will attack faster doing insane area damage;
Lexaeus, Mickey, Goofy: press A button and release, wait for final limit and wait for the second "blink" to do insane damage, Lexaeus is fucking broken and I love it;
Larxene: weak, useless;
Xaldin: strong against multiple enemies, useless only vs Riku and Saix;
Riku: stronger than Roxas and Xion normal limit;
Demyx: ... useless, but his limit should be buffed in my humble opinion;
Xigbar: too weak and not precisive, and you must stay still and motionless while you doing it;
Donald: weak but fun to play with, just keep pressing A button repeatedly.
I dunno if I forgot someone...

@@altoglobe4622 Saix is pretty much like Xemnas: during limit you can't jump, but Saix can do insanse area damage nearby enemies pressing A, obviously you must be careful while he's drifting.

Damns So many characters! This must be the dissidia of kingdom hearts 💯💯💯
It's kind of sad to see how much effort they put into a co-op segment of the game only for no one to ever really use it since it was local-only and required a copy of the game for each player. Notice how they never tried multiplayer functionality like this again. Damn shame.
BBS had multiplayer as well. But they both people were required to have the game on Psp as well

@@naughtmeinam4603 it was alright, you could bring your current character to an arena with your loadout and up to 3 of you could take on waves of enemies or boss fights, sometimes in that order I think there was even a pvp mode for it too but god that looked so janky lol I’m pretty sure you could also play minigames with friends too and I could be wrong but it was fully online like I don’t think you needed to be on the same connection or anything, though it probably would make the experience better of course, and I know this sounds like a lot for KH and great on paper but there was connection issues from what I’ve seen to where it doesn’t make for the best experience for whoever isn’t hosting
Methinks its because they only considered japanese consumers in mind for multiplayer (same reason why BBS and FFType 0 also only have ad-hoc multiplayer; it generally wouldn't be terribly difficult given the high population density of urban areas); japanese ver. of 358/2 days didn't even let you get mission crowns when you go solo

I really wonder how Nomura made Disney agree to have Mickey, Donald, and Goofy playable in this one. Yes, we had Mickey in KH2, but this one sure push it with Donald and Goofy.

Lexaeus and Goofy have a similar gimmick to their limits. You gotta charge them by holding the attack button.
I wish that days and recoded both got remakes like think about online days you could work together or fight each other thats what me and my brother did.

I wouldn’t see why they wouldn’t now, we got Sora, Riku, Kairi, Roxas and Aqua all playable in the new engine, there’s no reason we shouldn’t be playing as AT LEAST Riku and Kairi soon, the others maybe not so much (though I would love to be able to play as Roxas outside of saix’s fight 😔✊)

For those who may not know
This KH game did not look this good on the actual hardware
That being said it didn't look horrid for a ds game but here's why this game is considered by many to be a sort of black sheep of the bunch (similar to chain of memories)
Starting off. Mission structure, at first missions aren't too bad you get the basic feel and concept of what they were going for and ultimately for the first few hours it's fun to experience the different mission types. However these types end up repeating themselves again and again and again and again which just makes the game feel like it's dragging out what's worse is that you have to come back to some of these missions 3 more times later if you intend on 100%ing this game.
The base game is alright if dragged out and repetitive but sadly this is where the game starts to get...eugh. Where as BBS had a decent multiplayer arena that was actually entertaining this games multiplayer is anything but sometimes.
Firstly. It's Local only meaning you have to find someone willing to play with you. Second you are literally just replaying the same missions from before with very few things changed mainly chests and other collectables have been removed. While mission mode is unique to the series allowing you to play the other OG members and even some hidden characters the mode falls flat due to it simply being the same thing over and over and over again. Each mission will grant you a crown which you can use to get rewards once a certain amount is gotten. However once you do all the missions you wont even have enough to get the last item meaning you'll have to replay the same mission again to get a single crown.
On top of mission mode you have challenge mode which means you have to replay EVERY mission AGAIN under certain prefixes and some of them are outrageously annoying to do but needed to get sigils which can be turned in for even more rewards.
On top of all that you have an inventory system that is only unique to this game as well. Instead of just allowing you to equip a weapon some magic etc etc the game has a slot system that has a max of 3 total slot rows each having around 30 or to 50 (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong it's been too long since I completed this game) slots this means you have *very* limited inventory space and what's worse by the end of the game you one of these box rows will have to be taken up SOLELY by levels because instead of just leveling up normally when you level up you get a level to place in your slot this means you have to waste a slot in your inventory to gain a level. As you progress you'll get level rows as well as magic rows which double or even quadruple the amount of what you take weapons can also have these rows which can be equipped with sigils that can increase the power or the crit rate/damage. There are a bunch of different weapons to choose from and with a specific weapon you can become 2 keyblade roxas a special version of him that only appears at the end of the game but funnily enough is his worst way to be played. Along the way you'll gain abilities which on top of items/levels/magic you'll be having to place ability rows which take up more space but are required to actually get things done in end game ultimately this system on paper sounds good because it allows you to strategize what you want to take but it falls flat because it's confusing and just a mess to look at.
With all of that being said is this game bad?
No. It's not horrid. It's still a fun game. But it's a chore to complete and by the end you wont want to replay it.

you forgot to say that the extra charather are not made equal, which means some are pretty much useless even with a perfect setup, while other will be bettwe in every possible way in the olomission mode

This game needs a remake that let's you play with all the characters and more like maybe add like aqua, Ven, Terra and maybe Vanitas and xehanort too as well for mission mode and maybe add other game modes like a co op and even a pvp maybe or make a game mode that's similar to the struggle matches but hey that's just me

The fact that Soras ragnarok is so awful looking and weak when they had a perfect ragnarok from 2nd phase xion fight is baffling to me. They could have just reused that and it would have been amazing
