I've always wanted to be a wizard so badly that I've tried my best to surround myself with it. Ranging from Harry Potter, Magic, D&D, wizardy, magical systems in video games... all of it was real to me. Do you really want to be a wizard though?

So my dnd charecter is a wizard changeling and I’m considering making partly a sociopath besides his unic interests. Like he would save a frog over a party member, but besides that I was considering having him change his looks through out the campaign, he currently has a mossy green huge wizard hat and a emerald green robe with big brown leather boots. His face is also shadowed with bright glowing eyes

The first time I took the test I got Hufflepuff but the second time I got RavenClaw. I believe I am a RavenClaw because I would want to explore the castle. Like I would want to know EVERYTHING about wizardry, like if the Harry and his friends explored the castle and got to know everything about it their challenges would be so easy.
As both a D&D and Harry Potter nerd, I am so happy to hear others talk about this and be passionate about what they say and do, it really warms my heart ❤️

The flying on broomsticks trope comes from old times when "witches" would put I believe was what they called "dragons breath" on the ends of the sticks and uhhhhh

When Maaz mentioned the “magic hand” I imagined he was talking about Bigby’s Hand. Likewise, I cringed a bit when he said a nat 20 does the perfect version of what you want, and that he used the Mage Hand to attack 😅
Yeeaahhh... It was kinda directly contradicted by the rulebook...
But to be fair, it was cool, and major props to the DM.

I have never played D&D, BUT NOW I HAVE TO GIVE IT A TRY! I don't really like a full wizard, but I once invented a blood mage that uses blood and it's properties to fight (like turning the iron in blood into an armor or weapons). It also had an attack called "Red River", that just burns his blood, his veins glow alongside with his eyes and his veins come out as they throw fire like those things that spit flames in the cars and the guy just starts spiting red fire for a long moment.
There is a class in d&d called the Blood Hunter, it uses there blood to power up there weapons and curse people (one of the curse you can use to connect yourself to the enemy like if you are damaged they also take damage) they cannot cast spell but it is still really good
This just made me want to see Maaz play dnd, he sounds like he has a knack for creative character design just from the two examples he gave in the video. Of course, *Magic Hand* is a MUST on every single character he makes.
Dude, I love spellcasters. When I was younger, I used to love just being a blaster battle mage. But now, I lean towards more utility and crowd control. Blowing people up is fun sure, but I like having magic that gives me fun out-of-the-box solutions to problems. I also really like summoners.
In D&D, Wizard is my favortie class, but I really like Druids and Artificers as well. Sort of the opposite, but I like the idea of being one with nature so much that nature is at your command. As for Artificers, magical inventions are cool and more fantasy settings need them. Also, you can be fantasy Iron Man.
Even without eyes them staring into your soul at the end was terrifying...
Glad to know that I’m not the only nerd who still plays D&D.

A little late to the game but I did start dnd very recently. Too many people I know play it and so I gave in and did the research. Here’s the thing, I knew I was going to like it. I love lore, I love storytelling, I love creating worlds and characters and I love the process of creating things with other people. I also love research (no I was never a ravenclaw first but I’m told that was probably my secondary house if I had a hat stall. I’m slytherin first if that says anything). So yeah, I started dnd very recently. One of the first characters I made was of the wizard class. I didn’t quite like how the mechanics played so I paired it up into a double class and now they are a wizard/monk. I wanted both so I made both (I’ll be honest, I wanted mystic and then found out they removed it from the game because it was too confusing and broken so these two classes were my second choice). Wizards are pretty awesome. I did the same motivation, sorta, for my character. They are the head librarian of their hometown and travel around to find more knowledge to fill that library both to expand the knowledge of their community and for themselves. They are more a neutral good than true neutral but still, I get where your character is coming from for the monkey thing. That situation sounds hilarious in all honesty.

11:10 I absolutely agree with JoCat on the whole bit of loving flavor text for spells, perhaps my favorite is when my friend reflavored his fireball spell to be a jack-o-lantern that gets flung around and explodes (kinda like a fantasy Green Goblin)

I know I'm little late to the party but... you could easily argue the tattoos on my body are my wizard's equivalent of a "spell book". I mean if I'm not mistaken there is no set rules for what qualifies as a spell book.

I’m actually playing a halfling wizard now in my first full campaign who values knowledge over most anything else.
I was really into the HP books...I was 6 when I read the first book, and I really super-fixated on the lore and the audiobooks. Jim Dale's narration and voice-acting? sublime. I still really look up to that level of talent and passion for VO. and it definitely instilled a lifelong craving for magic
...and I've made my peace with the series itself and moved on. other stories have come along which I'm much more passionate about, stories with writing I can say is good without any caveats, and from writers who...well. aren't going to go on twitter with Trans Bathroom Opinions

One of the best parts about dnd is the texture and re-flavoring when it comes to different things. My all-time favorite campaign is this campaign called one piece dnd. We’re it still Dnd but everything is change to match the world of one piece it’s honestly incredible

Hey Maaz, if you enjoy anything with magic I would recommend The Owl House, it’s a very good show that features a lot of magic, a school, and it makes fun of Harry Potter on several occasions
Also in case your wondering if it’s a kids show, because it’s made by Disney, it isn’t, in one episode they heavily imply that there’s drugs in some ice cream, out of context that sounds really bad
