Wow what a book to pop up in my feed. Love the 2e psionics. They're nuts. If you have it, or can miraculously find it for an affordable price, I highly recommend Council of Wyrms.

and every table had at least one "THAT GUY" who was desperate to build their whole character around it. 😆
that guy wasn't a jerk, he just complicated the game cause there was no other class that required the DM to learn a whole fuckin' book that didn't apply to anyone else at the table. 😆
My sentiments exactly. There is a world where Mystics/Psionics can work, but we aren't living in it quite yet.
I couldn't disagree more. You either liked it or you didn't. I can you really didn't like it because you couldn't make a simple comment without getting so angry you're cussing. So the DM didn't need to know how other classes work, but had to have this entire book memorized? Your opinion is a bit exaggerated. It's no more difficult than any other class. Also, I seriously doubt you ever took 2 seconds to even try. So your opinion about something you don't know anything about is kinda shit. I'm really not a fan of D&D purists.

Certainly helpful, yes. Dark Sun greatly expanded on Psionics for its own purposes with the way they interact with the world and whatnot.
I love psionics. Spellcasters are so boring now. Are you divine or arcane? Full, half or third caster, same spell progression table. Most spells are shared. Class uniqueness is pretty low.
Agree that 2e rules are convoluted but 2e rules were also convoluted, it’s just a thing at the time. Initiative each round, weapon speeds, spell casting times, armour vs weapon type modifiers. Hence in context, the psionic rules are not AS bad because everything was convoluted during 2e.
3 and 3.5e really improved them and standardised a lot of the rules hence they were easier to play.
If anyone runs a 4e game and lets me play a psionic, I’m there.
As for people saying they don’t fit, there are guns, artificer and androids nowadays. And standard dnd is boring. Part of what makes Dark Sun so appealing, everyone is psionic!
