Dark Sun is my favorite d&d world. It's well written and you're right, as long as the changes to the preconceived classes (or anything really) make sense on the fiction, it's ok. I usually play rules lite system, but AD&D modules and supplements were so full of flavor that I read them frequently for inspirantion. Also, really good video.
