Been dropping in to listen to this every once in a while since I've played the game and I have to say this is one of the best soundtracks in a videogame and this deserves more recognition
Even if you did not play the game for too long, the original layout is a classic, with those weird names, Thrasher, Snake Vargas, Angela Deth, and Hell Razor, and then, silence. There is something magical in just that visual.
The Game before Fallout. I was too young at the times this comes out but many years later i played it and loved it, loved the music too. I like this retro-style👌
Reminds me so much of Godspeed You! Black Emperor. A beautiful soundtrack to an amazing game, conveying emotions of hope, strength, intrigue, sadness, and loss all at once. Hats off to Mr. Montgomery, and thank you for this upload.
edwinmontgomery Tyler Durden I was thinking the very same thing, the soundtrack is very post-rock. Don't suppose you GSY! at Brixton per chance, Edwin?
Awesome, I saw them in London last year. I just found out on the fly there were over here and snatched up a couple of tickets asap. It's a remarkable show they put on eh?
edwinmontgomery Sorry, I've never heard of Godspeed, but I love this soundtrack to death. It really melds well with the atmosphere the game is conveying, making it all the more enjoyable. The main theme, highpool, quarts, base chochise and the ballad of Faran Brygo are probably my favorites amongst the soundtrack. Thanks for your effort man. ;)
How come The Ballad of Faran Brygo isn't included in the OST on Steam? I really like that track and it's bumming me out that it isn't included in my purchase.
I have the original rerelease of the game that came with wasteland 2, it just cycles through all the songs when you play. I haven't played the other versions or the remaster. I'm assuming the song plays when you fight Faran Brygo.
So was there music in the original game from the 80s? I want to play this game in its definitive version, not with all of the enhancements steam might've given it. I just don't think he commodore 64 was capable of playing these sounds, I might be wrong tho. If it was originally played with no sound I'd like to know.
Playing "the definitive version" might be very difficult. A large part of playing games from this era (even well into the 90s) was reading the manual that came with it. WL even specifically tells you to read certain paragraphs when you reach parts of the game, because there was just too much text to fit into the game. The manual even had fake stories just to mislead players reading ahead. That's not something that can be easily achieved unless you physically have the manual to go with your copy of the game.

My favorite part of the game is the soundtrack, it truly makes you feel like you're in a wasteland.
Just like the first Fallouts did.

Amazing. Pure perfection.

high pool is soo good, it has tob e the best song ive heard in a videogame soundtrack
My favorite as well. And with the story of Bobby and rex. Beautifully done
0:41 That Cello hits so hard ! It captures the despair of living in such a cruel reality.

Great, I will listen to it while replaying FNV.
I love the faint little song in Guardian Citadel behind all the wind and distortion.
Base Chochise is excellence.
Loop loop

Thanks so much! Godspeed are one of my all-time favourite bands and I was lucky enough to see them last year :-)

I've probably listened to this soundtrack more than I've played the game.
Game's tight though.
Highpool track is just beautiful.
Damn this is an excellent soundtrack. Might even be better than Wasteland 2.

Mmmm so eerie and good

The original was completely silent aside from a few beeps and bloops.
