Despite the comments about amateur skills, props for getting out and trying. I’ve owned a dodge viper and even a ZR1 and these cars despite being very fun are JUST AS TAIL HAPPY. Takes balls. And I love the effort into multiple camera angles.

Very nice video and excellent narration. As someone with 20 years of high performance RWD experience, including 2 E36 M3s, I can honestly say you wouldn't know you're relatively new to performance RWD cars. Good car control and understanding goes a long way, and you clearly have both.
I'm getting the M Performance LSD for my M240i in the coming weeks, and I'm very interested to see how it behaves with the different driving modes. Is your M140i tuned or standard by the way? Mine is running just under 470WHP on standard sized wheel and tyres, so it's desperate for the LSD and wider wheels.

i have had my 335i for 2 years now unfortunatly it isnt a confidece builder being open diff i like to play but when i punch 2nd in the wet i make sure its just a blip n straighten up i wouldnt wanna push it too much . gonna end up facing other way lol ..maybe babying it too much i know but that not having a slip diff feel for such a powerfull car feels sketchy say the least lol.deffo going to invest a lsd next year or 2 get alot of the main n54 worrys out of the way first as i do plan on keeping

Mark, I feel you'd benefit from an M Performance gear shifter and clutch travel stop. I felt it really helped me get over my issue with the manual box with that long throw and rubbery feeling. Two things I still would like for my 140 are an LSD and set of coilovers and M4 LCA's but am struggling to justify them cost wise.
W00LFY100 M4 LCA is just 160€ both (ZF Lemförder) and install is pretty easy, 1-2h DIY only. But you‘ll need an alignment afterwards, so maybe you combine the Lca install with new suspension parts
I've gotten used to the shift now...it's not perfect, far from it but I'm getting along with it OK. I'm going to get a drive soon of a 140 that has a full set of Bilstein coilovers...I can't wait to try that out!
MarkCup70 I do run the B12 setup already on my M140, also the M4 LCA....just have to fit the LSD.
Interested about your experience with the Bilstein setup compared to your adaptiv

LSD and some decent suspension/set-up is a worth while investment for these cars.

Definitely more loose. Where the open diff might spin one wheel leaving the other still gripping, with the LSD, when it goes, both go!

Thanks for the update. It would be good to know what effect it has on tyre wear. If it is noticeably worse and the type of wear (even/inside/outside).
I found without it that my right rear wore way faster than the left...that must be because it would spin up as I exited every roundabout...so in theory the diff should even that out a bit. I'll be putting new rears on soon, before Goodwood, so I'll find out for sure.

I just got a new diff into my m340xi. How many miles for break-in? And did you do oil after break in for the m performance lsd?
Mine had already done 10k miles on a friend's 135 before I fitted it so can't help on the run in period, sorry!

Hi im a manual 6 speed owner like yourself and enjoy the content of your videos. Do you think it worth while adding tuner boxes/ remap for extra power etc as I can’t find any manual owners who have done any mods at all? Have you gone down this route or would you consider it? What mods have you done to yours ?
I do then I don't then I do then I don't Richard. Back and forth. I think it'd be rude not to seeing as the B58 is so capable, but then I think that with what it has, and with the diff, it's a good balance...enough to bring the rear into play whenever you want, but not so much that you're afraid of pressing the loud pedal. I should be getting a drive of one, with a diff, and a Litchfield remapped output of 450 BHP soon, I'm looking forward to that.

The a259 Bognor bypass is a 50 limit. Not the place to drive like a knob pass housing estates

Not really Kevin, although my default mode is now DSC fully off so I can't really comment.

From my understanding LSDs are good for drifting. But i have no need for drifting and cant afford to buy new rear tyres all the time. Can you notice any difference during normal road driving Mark?
Not really day to day Jonathan...the standard open diff I found to be good enough 99% of the time.
And if you dont intend to use on the track......not worth the expenditure???
I'll be honest I've not felt the problems people talk about with this car and its rwd set up, maybe I'm simply not driving it hard enough 🤔

After owning two M3’s, I can safely say the 140 is a tad rear end wayward when pushed hard. They are still great cars though with the open diff.
Agreed that as standard there's not a great deal wrong with it as it comes. If you're a bit of a hooligan though, the diff really helps.

Mark don't think your a proper BMW owner, they never signal, in your video your always signalling IAM says only signal if someone will benefit from a signal. Clearly don't think anyone on your drive would bennifit from a signal as you were clearly driving faster than anyone else.

@@stephenthomas5737 I consider myself very lucky to have found a nicely specced 140, owned by one enthusiast owner from new, and with the crucial manual gearbox. I'm one year in now and am so glad I made the move from the RS!
