      How is it dangerous -- I mean is it more dangerous than other types of woodworking dust?

    • @ericdoss1293
      @ericdoss1293 8 месяцев назад

      @@therealJamieJoy from what I've read, yeah most others. Hardwood in general isn't good to breath in, but it is mostly dangerous to animals unless you are blatantly unsafe with it. However, I just mentioned it bc the dust can release a toxin called jugalone. It can be used as natural herbicide. She protected herself very well with the mask she wore. It can cause skin irritation or if you breath it in, it can make you sick. I was just saying she did well, but I hope you make sure you clean it all up really well. I would hate to hear one of her cats got sick bc of an allergen or something.

    They can be dangerous when provoked or starving, but most of the time they’re just calm and utterly chill.
    And they’ve been around for more than 100 million years.

    Really nice job on the execution and also it shows some cool creativity. Black walnut is definitely one of my most favorite woods. I am a professional woodcarver and black walnut is my favorite choice in woodcarvings. I've never powercarved it though. I just use chisels and gouges. I can't imagine the amount of black walnut dust you must have now in your work space. My body just really doesn't like that dust at all. In the past when I did woodwork other than carving with that wood, that dust residual would jack my sinuses up bad for a good while afterwards. One advantage black walnut has when carving with hand tools is the back bevel of carving tools burnishes the wood and kinda gives it a smooth polished feel without sanding at all. The wood grants some of the best crisp fine details of any wood in my opinion. I planted some black walnut trees on my property just so I can judiciously prune those trees seasonally to get wood for carving. Anyway, it has been really cool to see this project.

      Realistically, I think it's because Christine works on a sustainable model wherein YT is really a vehicle for her Patreon which is one of the only Patreons that I think is worth the money. This way she also is able to better protect her intellectual property as an artist and overall content creator and it also probably allows her to avoid negative outcomes that often come with fame on wider platforms. It's an avenue that I, personally, really respect.

My son and family have BLACK Walnut trees and he makes Coffee Tables and other small tables, and his wife is able to print or paint anything on them imaginable! It is a wonderful wood that grows in Plattsburgh NY area. They moved there several years ago, and he is into construction but does this on the side to sell as his wife sells items on her own, so he helps her with making the tables and other items. to sell out of this wood. The brooms would really make a new type of items really when they have sales. I do not live so close to them. But truly loved watching and seeing how they are made. Putting all those mourning trinkets into the broom was such a special moment in the video ❤. It's so hard to loose a special pet and it's always beautifull to celebrate their lives with little rituals like this. This way we an feel close to them and remember them. I got my boys pawprints tattooed, and I look at them every day. The broom turned so incredibly beautifull and with this it's even more special!
    Also: YES to the warning with loose objects around rotery- tools. When I was 12 I got my hair caught in a kitchen mixer while baking. Do not recommend AT ALL, lol

    I was far too caught up in my own Halloween festivities to have seen this in time for the holiday, but I'm definitely still capable of enjoying theatrical Halloween vibes this late into November. That opening shot of the Victorian house and the Jack-o'-Lanterns is peak Halloween fantasy that I can't help but applaud. The broom is likewise delicious. Thank you for sharing your creativity.🎃🎃🎃

    Walnut wood nerd and fan here: A thickness planer would have helped make that glue-up SO much easier. Also curious what you used for work holding. So many compound angles from carving should make it really tippy as you're doing such fine work with the Dremel. Also super surprised that the Alligator eye didn't blow out between jigsaw and carving. That knot looked like such trouble!

    Beautiful work! The swamp witch vibes are immaculate, and incorporating your kitty's memory was a beautiful touch.
    Thank you for the tip about the dremel pedal. Ill be ordering one once the post-Christmas shipping crazy calms down. Woodcarving is a hobby I want to pick up, and having an extra safety would absolutely help.

    Ah, Lady Christine McDonald, I have ventured 'cross the digital realms and stumbled upon thy mesmerizing episode, 'Carving the Witch's Broom.' By mine honor, I was ensnared within thy incantations from the very first moments. In truth, I beheld the entire tapestry of thine video, and was spellbound by each stitch. Thou art verily a sorceress of many a craft, casting spells of both bewitchment and knowledge. As one who relishes the magic that dwells in storytelling, music, and the culinary arts, I tip mine hat to thee. Thou hast earned thyself a devoted follower keen on thy future conjurings.❤🎉✨🎃👍😻🤩💯
