    I used the Ambush Knee Pads for about a year and a half and still have them. I now use Fox Racing Launch Pro D3O Knee pads, but I keep the Ambushes as a backup just in case someone needs a knee pad. Great video brother. Peace.

    Adam this is a spectacular video, really appreciate you putting it together. The Ambush was on my list and your review has convinced me to try them out. I'm not a mountain biker, but actually seeking a robust knee pad solution that's appropriate for martial arts training (lots of break-falls). Due to Covid we're training on hardwood floors, which is destroying my knees. Been though a slew of MTB knee pad reviews and this is hands down one of the most informative. The info about the velcro system, side protection and sizing was exactly what I needed to know. Thank you!

    Nice review and wash tips! I like that you went over how to put them on. It looks like RF has redesigned the Ambush and people don't like the new design as much. But the 2021 (your model) is still available. I am in need of new knee pads so will add these to my short list. I've already tried the Leat Air Flex Pro (not enough side knee protection and short in the thigh area) and the TLD T-Bone Knee pad (big gaps in side knee protection). Neither worked well enough to keep. Next up I'll try TLD Stages, Fox Launch D30 and the Ambush. Hopefully one of these fits well and offers good protection. Buying knee pads is a real challenge. There's even a case to be made for having 2 pairs, a "heavy duty" pad for bigger gnarlier days and a lighter/thinner pad for your average trail ride or wearing under riding pants.

      Thanks! I agree, having different pads for different riding occasions is a good idea. Good luck on your hunt for some knee pads! ✌🏼🤟🏼

    Great review! I have used both and I have to say the Flank has saved my shins several times on pedal slips where I have had my flat pedals smash into my shin and I felt no pain. My shins thank me. Well worth the slight extra heat especially if you’re riding gnarly trails or bike parks.

    I use leatt 3df6 in 2xl with 80kg. Still good but hot in summer.
    I try the race face now

    • @AdamMock

      Definitely tough to find good pads for the summer. The Flank is Warner because of the shin protection, but the Ambush isn’t too bad. ✌🏼🤟🏼

    Great tip with using the helmet bag for washing the velcro strap ladden bike gear. Great review but I am trying to find info on Raceface's new Roam knee pads. Let me know if you have any insight on the new pads.

    There is a new version called the RaceFace Leg and an Ambush Knee. Can't tell if it's better or worse because the pictures aren't great on either one. Not a fan of the mesh back because you're pedals can tear it up. Now I have to wait on new reviews but there isn't any info out there!!! Otherwise scarf up the flank while I can. Newer does not always mean better, it can mean cheaper. I've seen that with Dainese leather motorcycle jackets.

    • @AdamMock
      @AdamMock  2 года назад

      Oh interesting. I had no idea they made a new version. I’ll see if I can get my hands on some to see how they compare to the Flank.
      Thanks for the heads up! ✌🏼🤟🏼

      @@AdamMock I will for sure. Hopefully will get some this month or next when I can start riding again. Yea the pair I have are a pain. Their slip on and my legs being thick they are not so comfortable lol

    Is there a slit to remove the d30 on the ambush knee pad? I can't seem to find it on mine.

    • @AdamMock
      @AdamMock  2 года назад +1

      No. The D3O is sewn into the pad.

    • @KarloArceo
      @KarloArceo 2 года назад

      @@AdamMock how have you been cleaning them? Just hand washing?

    • @AdamMock
      @AdamMock  2 года назад +1

      @@KarloArceo I actually put them in the washer on delicate and let them air dry open overnight. When washing them, close all the Velcro and put them in a helmet bag, or something similar and cinch it up. That way the Velcro won’t stick to any other gear or clothes you may put in the wash with it.

    how tall are you and what size flank do you use?

    • @AdamMock
      @AdamMock  2 года назад +3

      I’m 6’1”, 185lbs and went with an XL. They can run VERY tight, so if you can find a way to try a pair on or order a couple with the option to return one, you can get the right fit. ✌🏼🤟🏼

    How much do the slip while peddling?

    • @AdamMock
      @AdamMock  Год назад +1

      I’ve never had either the Flank or Ambush slip while pedaling. The Velcro really keeps it in place if you get the right size for yourself. ✌🏼🤟🏼
