I ride with all my gear on no matter what and regardless of the temperature, it was 39c here the other day, today's a bit cooler, 34C at 7.30 am. I wish they would make some light body protection which sat a bit lower and covered where you normally body slam which isn't the high middle center of your chest but your rib wall on either side. Most times when I go over on corners I hit on my side as its fast and I'm still holding the bars, so don't laugh I have some kids knee pads cut down and slid up onto my side upper arms above my elbow guards. Really recommend the Bell with removable chin guard, very useful and sturdy, but full face a must at the parks.
Been using a bell with removable chin guard. Sturdy enough to to have taken a big impact at BPW and can remove the chin when on regular rides or during a ride if heading up. Easy to remove and clips to my pack. Great option.
Great video Rob. Safety is something that many of us take too lightly. In 2013 I had what I thought was just a minor spill....slipped on a tree root and the bars hit me in the rib area. I thought I must have cracked one? I decided to end the day and rode 10 miles home. Next thing I was in hospital and I woke up the next morning in intensive care with no spleen and a blood transfusion! Somethings are scary in life?

Once again a super Rob-video, thank you Rob! I do both enduro and DH and a couple of years bought myself a Leath body armor for going DH. It's super - however a bit heavy - so I haven't used it when going enduro...So this fall when I was out enduro cykling, I had a massive crash and of broke my collar bone severely - and I had to undergo surgery. So i swear to all the good bike-Gods; next time I go out enduro biking my Leath armor will be zipped on!! Including a more robust helmet with chin-protection....Cheers and keep it up!
Rob, us ex motorbikers learnt about body protection the hard way. Every time I jump on an MTB I wear full body protection. Back, shoulder and chest protector. Full face helmet. Elbow, knee and bum protector. Thick socks. I fall off.....but my injuries end up being minor......thank heavens.
When I'm at local trails in the woods often other riders look at me with my full body protection and say things like: is the trail really that hard you need all this? But thanks to my pretectors I never crashed bad. I'm having the fox pro frame, fox titan sport jacket (can highly recommend it) ixs hammer knee/shin guard, uvex Googles and gloves from Thor. Only thing I'm missing would be this protective undershorts you showed, maybe I'll get some. Anyway, good video, lots of truth in there.
I rock an Alpina King Carapax FF lid, it's the perfect lightweight helmet with chin bar for enduro riding. It's the closest I found to the old style Met Parachute before they move to the chunky Pro frame style.
Rob have you ridden in a IXS Trigger Full Face it is lighter than the Pro Frame more comfortable and better fitting. I wear it almost all the time and honestly I firget it is a full face, it dies not impeed vision at all.
as a helmet i absolute recommend the Bell Super Air R for anyone who lacks money / space for several ones or just wants flexibility on the go 🙃 it's got almost everything except for DH certification, "improved" MIPS (way better than any other MIPS i've ever seen tbh and it's silent when moving), comfort and transforms smoothly.
I wear my Proframe every ride, jaw injuries scare me too death. Also wear Race face flank knee pads. Great protection. D30 and cover some off the shin. For body protection l go for the TLD 5850 shirt with the Race Face crash shorts. Getting older you don’t bounce as well anymore. Keep up the good work Rob. 🤙🏴
TheMok3r lol this is so funny to read. I did exactly the same. I’ve broke so many bones while using clipless for years. I’m now on flats and my riding is so much better, and I’ve come of twice but both times my feet saved me now there free! 👍🏻
I've crashed with clipless and flats. The flats have gouged my inner calf on a get off. Rob's idea for shin protection would have saved me pain and bleeding.
Great video, nice knowing about the sizing and fit, for me at least everything comes from online shopping that info makes it super! Keep it rocking 🤘🏼!
Best riding glasses I've ever had... 3M Flat Temple Clear 47010-WV6. Around $14 at the hardware store. Comfy, no watering eyes or dirt in eyes. Fits well
Hey Rob - many thanks for an excellent and very smart video. I ride a powerful electric scooter. Had one low speed fall and that's all it took for me to learn. My wrist is still store. The good thing is I was wearing a lot of safety gear (except wrist protectors... silly me). So I really encourage everyone, whether MTB riders or scooter folk or EUC riders to gear up, relax and ride safe. If I hadn't had my full-face helmet, I'd have shattered my jaw for sure. Thanks again - Ride with Gusto and Stay Safe
Yup, I ride a normal electric scooter and when I got it, it took me all of half an hour of using it to start experimenting. Let me tell everyone here that no, you can't ride down a mountain while sitting on the scooter. The helmet absolutely saved me and a set of padded gloves would've probably kept my hand from breaking. So yeah, get some protection 😂
I have to balance my other post out . Great channel , congrats on reaching thirty thousand. Mt. biking is ALL about the joy of riding at ANY speed . all the best
Nice video! My kit includes: Bell 4Forty Mips open-face helmet Uvex Sportstyle v231 photochromatic glasses Fox gloves ION k-pact knee protectors (like yours) SixSixOne Evo Compression Jacket Short Sleeve and Compression Shorts with Chamois inserts FiveTen Free Ride Pro MTB shoes The gear definitely gives me extra confidence to send those downhill trails. considering to get a Full face helmet with goggles, ION shin-protected socks, and the 661 Recon Advanced elbow protectors that can clip to the Jacket for those rare days at the bike park.
With you Fox lids you can't adjust the peak (aka: visor) but on the TLD run it up higher and you will have better vision. I always told my son that if he wants to sight see go hiking or ride slow. When your riding or especially racing you should be focused forward and to where you want to go not at what's around you! Yes peripheral vision is good but you don't need full field while riding. If you want to look around slow down or stop. Hahaha
Personally I would have recommended everyone to wear the most helmet that they’re willing to put up with at all times. I would stress that everyone should be wearing a full face at all times no matter how you’re riding. See Ben Cathroes recent crash to see why you can never estimate the actual risk of a ride even if you think it’s less risky
I really dig my G Form shorts for both of my replaced hips which I've landed on a number of times on both rock and softer trails and ended up in a LOT less pain than if I didn't have them. POC Knee pads help as well, would like to comfortable elbow pads at some point. Thanks for the great videos.
Just came across this. Great discussion on on pedals. I have just bought a Levo and put flats in it. I feel more secure on my stumpy with clips so am going to five clips a go on the Levo. Thanks
I think that dropframe is like a placebo. I get the impression that it would lead to confidence that isn’t warranted. I do wear my proframe more then the average person but that’s likely due to recent crashes that still affect how I can turn my head. I do still switch to the full carbon dh lid when I get on a dh bike though. I use gform pads for trail riding. Dh stuff I actually use fox titan motocross pads most of the time (under motocross pads because they have no over knee strap. If I want to ride shorts I use ixs hammer pad. Hammer are much thinner then cleaver.
I've used POC bone legs for years now and bought up a some old/new stock a few years ago. They don't move around and with the calf protector removed they are reasonably cool. The shin protection has saved me many times with branch and rock strikes unfortunately they are no longer made :( I rode cleats for years and still do on my XC bike but ultimately with flats the downside is you can loose a pedal but you can save yourself from serious injury in certain types of crashes where bailing is the preferred option. On my Ebike I've never considered Cleats as one of the main benefits of the cleats is removed due to the motor assist and if your doing extreme climbs available to Ebikes then flats are much better as you have more positional options..
Any good experiences with upper body anyone? Perhaps something that doesn't need to be modified :) I'm getting a pair of those biking shorts for sure! After my last big crash I took of part of my elbow and have since got elbow pads, wish I had hip pads then too. As a kid we didn't even have helmets (except the one kid who's dad made him wear his hockey helmet) - so I"m getting closer to proper protection. Thanks for sharing your experience :)
I am 48 and started BMX racing. Many voices kept saying roll and have fun or you break something. But my inner rider is 18 so I want to learn flying. Works pretty ok after some training and once you get confident you fly and crash. Helmet broken. Hip protector worked but leg feels like I got hit by a horse (not mentioning the swollen mountain on the leg😮). Ortema Max Duo jacket gets u sweating but kept me standing up after the crash. Nothing hurt really After a decent flightpath. Three essentials for me: ortema ortho max duo jacket leatt db 5.5 protection short and a decent full face helmet like 100% (have the cheap and the carbon version, cheap is crashed but did well). Get protected means get in the bike again earlier. And saves 30k bill at the dentist😅 good comment from someone else. The Troy Lee Short is way too weak!!! Trust me😅
Hi Rob, really good video. I'm using the Leatt Stealth Airflex body armour and I cannot imagine riding without it. You absolutely forget you're wearing it. It offers spot on protection without compromising the flexibility. I also have the Troy Lee Design Stage helmet, which is super light and super comfortable. And again I can hardly imagine riding without it. The only thing that remains exposed is the upper part of the pelvic bone called "iliac wing" which I broke two weeks ago. Did you find any under shorts that offer such protection? Thanks and have a great Christmas
Hi Rob, nice vid. I'm using as much as possible protection on mountains. Leatt body armor lite, shorts etc. But my worst crash was on flat surface when front tire washed out, i couldn't ride for 3 month after that.
How do you like the leatt stuff? We're looking at Leatt and Alpinestar stuff mostly and would love your opinion on what you have. My son took an OTB at a local race and got banged up pretty good. He landed on some rocks and got a stinger to his lower back which kept him from moving his legs for a few minutes. So after that he said "dad.... I want more protection for racing and you were right".....
@@bbarker5766 Your son need to measure, and choose what fits better. I haven't had big experience with leatt, but it saved my ass in mountains few times.
@@kostello2011 right on. We've been pretty thorough with our searching because of costs, designs, sizing, etc. I wish there was a shop that carried them and a few other brands besides troy Lee and fox. I just don't have the money to buy everything we would like to try. Lol
All this protection is great but It is also worth to mention wrist guards. Ulna and Radius fractures are among the most common in these type of sports as most people tend to fall on their hands and yet few want to wear wrist guards. I broke my ulna and radius, surgery to put metal in, surgery to take it out. The incision area is numb looks like permanently. God knows what the long term consequences of this injury will be.
Rob, curious to hear what you think of the Santa Cruz Heckler, SC is an iconic brand and IG chatter makes it sound like it's behind the times and expensive compared to other options, also, thoughts on the new Norco? Thanks...
good video Rob,since i started riding mtb id always been prone to cracked ribs when i came off,i eventually invested in the leatt 3df tshirt and its been ace,i've had it for over 4 years now and no injuries above the ankle (touch wood)i,ve come off the bike loads too,i also use the ion sleeves, they've got minimal protection but they stop grazes and thorns from pearcing the skin.
I wear soccer shin pads, the older fabric type ones that velcro on and tuck under knee pads, or ventillated ones in hot weather, for comfy, cheap protection from shin strikes.
"pee wee" sized shin guards (soccer/football) stuffed into over-the-calf socks. The're small, light, cheap, and cover most of exposure below your knee pads. Helps w/ kicked up rocks too, which are sometimes bigger impacts than pedals w/ pins.
Good cycling movie if anyone is interested is Premium Rush, Danny MacAskill did the cycle tricks and stunts for it, set about a cycle courier in new York mixed up in some shady business, famous Hollywood stars in it too
I usually wear my full-face only at the park and on lift-served downhill runs, but am gonna try to start getting used to wearing it in all seasons, and even for the climb.
Great vid on protection, not seen many others on here doing vids like these, don't have an ebike yet( but ride with folk who do) but as I get older 50 now and had bad crash a while back broke ribs, so always wear protective gear now.subbed🏴👍
Rob, you used to wear a Bell helmet, full face with removable chin guard. I haven’t seen you in it recently and it’s not got a mention in this vid. Any comment as I was given one for Christmas but not worn it yet. Cheers and thanks for all the good advice
Great video Rob. Have you considered the neck braces that prevent spinal injuries? Full face helmets can increase the force on the neck as the helmet is pushed during a crash.
When i was 16, my chin hit the sidewalk, i broke upper and lower back molars on both sides, they removed all 4 and all 4 wisdom teeth while they were in there. No bueno.
What you think about Leatt airflex stealth vs fox titan sport? I was thinking buying a full body armour and dont rally know which one is better.. (plastic protectors/fosm3d..). Any other recommendations are welocome ,)
Rob that claim by fox about injuries to the side of the head is quite rightly true, I came a cropper about 2 weeks ago on a night ride. Over the bars on a sketchy tree root. Cracked the side of my helmet. Saved my life .
Nice long good video , when i was looking for my first kit, last year as was 10 year's, since riding,i whent for Bell's second convertible helmet and i have few gloves, and as armour i whent for body armour set of bottom and top for about 50 or so pounds,i not got trousers as such apart from waterproof ones, and water over shoes, covers which comes in handy in Scotland, and as i got dragon goggles and got rockbros clear glasses with wide size to,but,i like get other brands later
Congratulations on reaching 30k! Excellent video as always. I think the next thing we need are wet suit recommendations. Can't be missing out on our EMTB rush, esp. if anyone's just got a new one. Too expensive for a garage accessory!
I have reviews on my site of several Poc products, and other riding gear, gloves, pads, jerseys and more mtb stuff. I use Poc Joint DH VPD 2.0 elbow & knee & shin pads.
Great video rob, as always!! It comes in the right moment, just broke my collarbone yesterday in finale ligure. The chest and shoulder Protection were the only one i was not wearing.
Wear the best helmet money can by! I am soon to be on the other side of 1,5 years off concussion hell - DONT GO THERE!!! - i wear my Troy Lee Stage helmet everywhere now....
I've been using the g-form elbow pads for around a year and they are that good I've bought the knee/shin pads too. Very comfortable and to be honest, I forget I'm wearing them. 👍🍻
Be aware most protective gear is cut very slim. If you are a big guy or gal it is very hard to find protection that has a good fit. I am blessed with big legs and have yet to find knee pads that don't strangle my upper legs.
the best injury protection I've ever had is switching to flats. So many bails that went clean instead of becoming a huge crash since I could just get off the bike at the last moment. I find shallow shin wounds far less concerning than breaking my neck by going OTB
Hey Rob, Great video! I wear the POC full body armour on every ride. From DH in the Alps to trails in Wales. I too crash a lot because I like to find my limits and swear by armour. But be warned, nothing saves collar bones! ;)
Mark Watson “keep” breaking your collarbone..? Jesus, I’m still in agony from my first collarbone (mind you, I did 9 rib fractures and a bruised lung and a week in hospital at the same time....) and the thought of doing it again horrified me...
Hi Rob, enjoying the channel but one question. The impact shirts Troy Lee, you example 7605 but the caption states 5605, which is your recommendation please? Thanks Andy
Great video thanks, I was wondering how was seperating the layers of foam inside the Leatt Airfit? Did you take the bottom layer, remove a couple inside layers, then put the bottom back on?
I have just got the Race Face knee pads, like your Ion they can be removed easily (velcro on these) and so comfy. I am looking for a torso set, what do you think of the Troy Lea designs one from the same set as your shorts? (been looking at the 7605 shorts, thanks for that it has made my decision easier, the sizing also helps as I am a 34-36 waist) new subscriber to your channel.
Hi Rob another great informative video Congrats on viewers, it’s funny I ride bmw offroad and wear everything going for protection costing thousands, out on my Emtb I only wear a helmet gloves and glasses and yes I do get injured and as I’m 63 I don’t bounce so easily. Maybe I have to except the weight of the kit and lack of feeling of freedom for a bit more protection, like everything it’s a balance👍🏼🤓
Would you recommend the long sleeve body armour rather than the short sleeve, do you find elbows are a common first contact point in s crash. I'm trying to weigh up protection Vs keeping as cool s possible in armour.
Hi Rob I find your videos really helpful and entertaining. I am insterested in getting the shorts you have there. In the video the caption says Troy Lee 5605, but when you read the label I do think you say 7605? In images the 7605 looks a litte more protective?
Hi Rob, watching this as I am recovering from a big crash. What is your view on neck protection? I find it is the protection less talked about of one of our most critical body parts...
Funny...been riding for over 20 years. Just recently switched to flats and my crash rate went down to virtually zero. Best thing I ever did, since I’ll be turning 50 this year and I’ve broken too many bones! Great video!
@@trsshup if you ride with a pack already, you can simply add a bladder. If not there are a number of options. Size of bladder and size of pack should depend on what type of riding you do. Epics = more water and more gear so the pack should be big enough for all your gear. Also, do you strap a lot of your gear to your frame? If so you could eliminate packs with lots of storage. I use an Osprey bladder in an old Serratus climbers pack. The bladder has lasted me years.
@@scottpratico1315 Also I don't strap any gear to my bike I wear a cheap backpack so when I make a trip to the grocery store it's easy to bring back what I need.
I just went down twice yesterday on my first ebike ride and first bike ride in two years, damaged my dropper seat post but who cares about that. I suffered a fractured upper rib and a mild concussion, one black eye and alot of dirt rash on my arms and stomach. I am not the lightest rider 260lbs. I guess I will be off the saddle for 3-4months. Oh well I guess..
I have to go full on negative on the content of this video . If you are fed up with crashing , stop riding so damn fast. I rode bikes in the hills of california before they called it mt. biking and before there were mt. bikes . this was in the fifties . I kept riding and upgrading my bikes as the tech grew ,but i still ride like i want to be free of injury . How did riding like a Kamakazi come to be called Mt. biking ? The entire industry has been co opted by adrenaline junkies that want to die. There are still plenty of people out there that keep their wheels on the ground . Dont get me wrong , i admire the skills of today’s young riders , but remember mt. biking didn’t start off with acrobatics , it was simply the joy of riding in nature and enjoying the fresh air , solitude and Noticing what is all around you.
Sirios Star Full negative on protecting yourself against a fall? What planet are you on? Next thing your tell me is there’s no place for a helmet as in the 50’s no one rode with one. A nasty root, deep rut can catch anyone riding crazily or not...protection is common sense. I for one always were protection...your opinion has no place here when safety is the upmost importance when riding
I wear riding shoes and have a long platform with Catalyst pedals, and sue mid foot position, so my feet are more stable and more secure on the pedal, but I still ride with pads unless I take it easy on a safe bikepath in summer heat. I refuse to ride with clips, I haven't even tried them, but I don't see a reason to.

Across so many sports, it's the hip that gets the brunt of the impact in a fall. Definitely a good idea to look into padded/impact shorts.
The perspective of an expert is ALWAYS useful. Thank you very much!
I must say I really appreciate this video. It was just was I was looking for. And it takes a lot for me to comment
Brilliant video lad just the wha I need I’m looking for some protection while riding as I seem to fall of a lot so u earned a sub
as a helmet i absolute recommend the Bell Super Air R for anyone who lacks money / space for several ones or just wants flexibility on the go 🙃
it's got almost everything except for DH certification, "improved" MIPS (way better than any other MIPS i've ever seen tbh and it's silent when moving), comfort and transforms smoothly.
Only open face for me since the chin guard dug in on a face plant, and nearly ripped my head off :(
I went from clipless to flats, and my crash rate went down to zero. Never going back to clipless :)
That’s cool! I hear a few people that have gone that way and won’t go back 👍👍
TheMok3r lol this is so funny to read.
I’ve gone to clips and crashed less maybe I’m just weird
@@willbennett7107 I'm the same, clips just make you less sketchy if you comfortable on them I guess
@@The_1ntern3t Be Well, Be Safe and Have Fun - Thanks for the reply
I have to balance my other post out . Great channel , congrats on reaching thirty thousand.
Mt. biking is ALL about the joy of riding at ANY speed .
all the best
Thanks Sirios. I agree with your previous post too, sometimes the experience of the great outdoors is epic! Not every ride should be riding 100%
@@RobRidesEMTB 👍👍👍🚵♂️
Nice video! My kit includes:
Bell 4Forty Mips open-face helmet
Uvex Sportstyle v231 photochromatic glasses
Fox gloves
ION k-pact knee protectors (like yours)
SixSixOne Evo Compression Jacket Short Sleeve and Compression Shorts with Chamois inserts
FiveTen Free Ride Pro MTB shoes
The gear definitely gives me extra confidence to send those downhill trails.
considering to get a Full face helmet with goggles, ION shin-protected socks, and the 661 Recon Advanced elbow protectors that can clip to the Jacket for those rare days at the bike park.
Hahaha
I'm a chicken on the trails. I have a day job and can't afford broken bones and black eyes with clients!!
That sucks to be limited to beginner riding due to job requirements 😂
The shin protection has saved me many times with branch and rock strikes unfortunately they are no longer made :(
I rode cleats for years and still do on my XC bike but ultimately with flats the downside is you can loose a pedal but you can save yourself from serious injury in certain types of crashes where bailing is the preferred option. On my Ebike I've never considered Cleats as one of the main benefits of the cleats is removed due to the motor assist and if your doing extreme climbs available to Ebikes then flats are much better as you have more positional options..
Any good experiences with upper body anyone? Perhaps something that doesn't need to be modified :)
I'm getting a pair of those biking shorts for sure!
Trust me😅
Rob ... loving your videos.. also I’ve brought “proper” into my language lexicon.. ride on... California opening up slowly..
I'm getting a pair of those biking shorts for sure!
Same, when I can afford it
Get a Leatt 4.0 or better 5.0. the Tld is weak. The rest is good stuff
Hi Rob, nice vid. I'm using as much as possible protection on mountains. Leatt body armor lite, shorts etc. But my worst crash was on flat surface when front tire washed out, i couldn't ride for 3 month after that.
Sometimes the slow crashes on basic terrain can be the worst can’t they?!
True story.
Yep I do the same. G-form football shin pads - the smaller red/black ones.
Hi mate the dropzone helmet i really like sold out in the camo everywere in my size though unfortunately
I love my impact shorts and light knee pads. I tend to ride a lot harder with them on.
Good cycling movie if anyone is interested is Premium Rush, Danny MacAskill did the cycle tricks and stunts for it, set about a cycle courier in new York mixed up in some shady business, famous Hollywood stars in it too
Congrats on the 30,00 subs Rob.
Giro switchblade best helmet I've ever owned , MIPS , removable chin bar , downhill rated ,
I usually wear my full-face only at the park and on lift-served downhill runs, but am gonna try to start getting used to wearing it in all seasons, and even for the climb.
Your content is great keep going Rob
Great vid on protection, not seen many others on here doing vids like these, don't have an ebike yet( but ride with folk who do) but as I get older 50 now and had bad crash a while back broke ribs, so always wear protective gear now.subbed🏴👍
Chin strap on the Fox and Troy Lee seems loose or unbuckled. Pads on the full face need to squeeze your cheeks for proper fit.
Rob, you used to wear a Bell helmet, full face with removable chin guard. I haven’t seen you in it recently and it’s not got a mention in this vid. Any comment as I was given one for Christmas but not worn it yet. Cheers and thanks for all the good advice
Cheers! The back bit broke and it became very creaky so I didn’t wear it any more. But when it worked it was good!
Thanks, please make more videos about accessories, it's really helpful.
Great video Rob. Have you considered the neck braces that prevent spinal injuries? Full face helmets can increase the force on the neck as the helmet is pushed during a crash.
Hi Rob
Any chance you can do an update on this. I am just wondering which bodyarmour is the best option. Thanks 👍
Every helmet will do that even the cheap ones
Hi rob what trousers are you wearing in this video ? Great information by the way Dean
The fox drop frame sort of mimics a moto trials style helmet which is pretty cool
As usual a Great vid, lots and lots of great info. Was wondering what trousers do u recommend?
I wear those Troy Lee padded knickers. Full hip replacement.
What did you do?
Ahh no!! Dude hope you are OK and heal fast! Which trails in Finale?
Rollercoaster, I did a bad landing in a jump. Thank you, I hope to be to ride again at the end of April or May
Hello! whats the name of the Fox Camouflage Jacket you wear? Is it waterproof? looks great!!
It's cool , think troy lee do a similar one. Though both are usually out of stock everywhere.
Wear the best helmet money can by! I am soon to be on the other side of 1,5 years off concussion hell - DONT GO THERE!!! - i wear my Troy Lee Stage helmet everywhere now....
Well done. Thank you.
I've been using the g-form elbow pads for around a year and they are that good I've bought the knee/shin pads too. Very comfortable and to be honest, I forget I'm wearing them. 👍🍻
I crashed once and the g forms ripped apart
@@cdwag23 I'm surprised to hear that. I crash alot and still like new. Maybe worth contacting them
Be aware most protective gear is cut very slim.
Love the videos Rob great source of info , noticed a Method Race wheels sticker on one of your lids , do you have a jeep or similar too ?
I, use the Ortema GP5 kneeprotectors.
How substantial is the tail bone protection on those Troy Lee Shorts?
Hey Rob, Great video! I wear the POC full body armour on every ride. From DH in the Alps to trails in Wales. I too crash a lot because I like to find my limits and swear by armour. But be warned, nothing saves collar bones! ;)
I hear a lot of good things about the POC range. Might have to take a look! Finding limits 👍👍
I was considering the poc and i keep breaking my colar bone. I wondered if this would help or not. Is it good to wear all the time?
Mark Watson “keep” breaking your collarbone..? Jesus, I’m still in agony from my first collarbone (mind you, I did 9 rib fractures and a bruised lung and a week in hospital at the same time....) and the thought of doing it again horrified me...
Hi Rob, enjoying the channel but one question. The impact shirts Troy Lee, you example 7605 but the caption states 5605, which is your recommendation please?
Thanks
Andy
Great video thanks, I was wondering how was seperating the layers of foam inside the Leatt Airfit? Did you take the bottom layer, remove a couple inside layers, then put the bottom back on?
I have just got the Race Face knee pads, like your Ion they can be removed easily (velcro on these) and so comfy. I am looking for a torso set, what do you think of the Troy Lea designs one from the same set as your shorts? (been looking at the 7605 shorts, thanks for that it has made my decision easier, the sizing also helps as I am a 34-36 waist)
new subscriber to your channel.
My uncle almost broke his neck because he had a full face but no neck protector. He had to wear a brace for 6months anyway after the injury.
Thanks man
Funny...been riding for over 20 years. Just recently switched to flats and my crash rate went down to virtually zero. Best thing I ever did, since I’ll be turning 50 this year and I’ve broken too many bones! Great video!
Same, Its easier to bale out and roll rather than the hard hit.
You should check out the Knox pro urbane shirt it's an all mesh motorcycle under skirt with CE level protectio not just foam!!!
God the scream was serious injury
Just wearing a hydration pack has saved my spine on more than a few occasions.
Best kept secret. Protection you can drink.
Any recommendations on a good hydration pack?
@@trsshup if you ride with a pack already, you can simply add a bladder. If not there are a number of options. Size of bladder and size of pack should depend on what type of riding you do. Epics = more water and more gear so the pack should be big enough for all your gear. Also, do you strap a lot of your gear to your frame? If so you could eliminate packs with lots of storage. I use an Osprey bladder in an old Serratus climbers pack. The bladder has lasted me years.
@@scottpratico1315 I'm totally new to cycling so no gear yet just a bike and a helmet, first bike since I was a teen. Thanks for the recommendations 😁

Hi rob, what spezialized is this exactly, only find some with carcoal but not with this carbon optic
that fox dropframe style just look like mine trails helmet minus that hole part for the ears , they shld have made it mesh or something , looks weird
Great stuff, thanks for sharing from your perspective... Just subscribed to your channel!
My fox 3/4 saved my life the other day. I will never hesitate to shell out more money for mips.
What to do to protect the family jewels? Wear a wear a cup or what?
