It's my understanding that this was made from the slap-echo tape which studios used to have running constantly in the background in the days before digital delays. Some engineer or tea-boy must have recognized the demented brilliance which was accidentally captured and decided to keep that tape for posterity instead of re-using (erasing) it the next day, as they normally would have. I would like to nominate that person for an Engineering Grammy!
I was given a slightly edited version of this on cassette by Larry Page's ex wife, a lovely lady called Lea who is sadly no longer with us. This would have been around 1991 and like a lot of cassettes, they're not very durable so it was great to find this on RUclips. Ronnie Bond, what a fucking legend!!

And, when they finally start playing, it's an instant "You're doing it fucking WRONG!" Absolutely hilarious!! It makes me feel so humble, when I listen to "Wild Thing' or "Night of the Long Grass", that we're privileged to hear recordings with so much thought, care and attention lavished on them. Ah, the lilting Andover venacular of the Troggs. Music to my ears. Did this ever actually become a song? I like quite a lot of their tunes, actually... I can't control myself is a stone cold classic.
"Split yer 'ands" is the best part for me - 'dubber, dubber on yer left tom' etc. - also "drummers, I shit 'em". At one point it sounds like the bass player has some idea of where to go. There's also a missing bit when one of them says "When we did 'A girl like you', that were all right, weren't it?" - which really captures their total mistification about WTF is going wrong here.
@nessiebreath funny thing to say, since they were already in the industry for 10 years at this point. It sounds more of the producers who are trying to sculpt a pretty darn crappy vision
Any chance the poster could spell "arguing" correctly? I saw and heard the Troggs in 1967 on a television show that I attended in Hollywood. A few years back, their lead guitarist Richard Moore was in Santa Barbara and a friend with whom I jammed and performed.
