1. Use veggies as a base. 2. Put a lid on it. 3. Grind flax as needed. 4. Soak or sprout beans and legumes. 5. Let some veggies rest. 6. Pair vitamin c with iron. 7. Eat fats. 8. Combine fat, fibre, and protein. 9. Make smoothies. 10. Swap your oils. 11. Steam more often. 12. Chew your food thoroughly.
My mum was a microbiologist but she was into nutrition and loved reading about it. She always told me to have vit C with iron for better absorption of iron. She had passed away 5 years ago but this video reminded me of her. ❤️
My mum is a registered NHS dietitian in the UK and she would LOVE this video! The only thing she wouldn't agree with is the coconut oil, but that's only because most of her patients get carried away and use it for everything! 🙈 I'm so lucky to have her in my life, she brought my brother and I up to know all about healthy eating and how to make balanced, well proportioned meals, but I know most people don't have that so it's great we have people like you to tell us! ❤️
i’m a teen vegetarian and if there’s one thing i’m confident about it’s that i’ve done a lot of research and learned many things but, YOU ARE SO UNDERRATED. i loved your video!! thank you :P
Could you do a video on healthy cookware to use and how you became a holistic nutritionist and what steps we can take if we would like to be one as well. Thanks Meghan, your videos are beyond helpful.
I always add chia seeds and hemp hearts to my smoothies too. I didn’t know about letting some veggies rest. Thanks for always inspiring me to be healthier. ☺️
I’m so glad I came across your channel! There are so many pseudoscience channels out there that misinform the public and spread hearsay kind of factoids that can even harm the viewer. So it’s so refreshing and great to see someone like you putting real information out there in an easy to digest format! Thank you!
Just found your account and I love these tips so much. I love learning about nutrition and aim to be a dietitian!! Definitely going to try sprouting my legumes as I find it hard to digest them. Thanks so much!
Wonderful tips Meghan. Especially with the steeping tea. Definately going to try that. Want to have the most benefits from the herbal teas I drink. Chewing food up good has been life changing for me. Really been concentrating on this for a year now. I am 50 and when I dont chew my food (at least 20 times), and eat fast; let's just say I can tell that my digestive tract has slowed down. 😊
Hey Yvette - glad to hear you'll give the steeping tea trick a try. And I'm super happy that you've been more aware of chewing! It really makes a difference :-)
@@meghanlivingstone Thank you for your kind reply. You are such a kind hearted young woman. I enjoy your videos. Your voice is soothing and relaxed me. Have a blessed day. 😊
Wonderful video and great tips, as always. I agree about grinding the flaxseeds yourself. I don’t drink coffee, yecch*, so I bought a dedicated electric grinder that I labeled for nuts and seeds. I love it! I need to get a brush to sweep out the dust after each use. I needed that tip about a a little jar in the fridge of flax seed I grind myself to use that week. Good to know about the veggies/greens that benefit from pausing after cutting...Dr Gregor reports that broccoli requires 30 minutes after breaking it up and that cooking it whole decreases the amount of nutrition available. I prefer avocado oil to coconut. I mostly water sauté or use homemade veggie broth. Definitely need to chew my food more. I appreciate all these reminders! *I do like the smell.
Thank you for the good tips. I never knew that I would lose some of the health benefits from the steam escaping from my tea. I will definitely start covering it while it steeps. The veggie tip of letting them rest for 10 min is another one. I prep really fast when I'm fixing meals. I do need to start drinking more smoothies. I will be making it a ritual especially in the summer and warmer weather.
This is packed with lots of helpful info. I have a question about how to introduce more Iron into your diet? I have had problems in the past with an Iron deficiency and I don’t want that to happen again so I want to eat better. On the whole I have a balanced diet though
I would highly recommend going either to a thrift store. Or even two a tea shop to find the most unique lids for your tea mugs. Some are often designed to fit more than one size. Kind of helps with the Aesthetics if you don't feel like putting a pot lid on top of your mug. Just saying :-) even finding a heavy saucer plate
Really useful video, thanks alot dear for your efforts 🌹🌹 I am hoping that you can make more videos for meals with less vitamin (K) , as i am on warfarin and i am really suffering to make healthy meals with minimum vit K on it 😞
Hi Meghan, I was wondering if you have any tips regarding the timing of water drinking during dinner? I heard it is better to drink beforehand, rather than during a meal, but am wondering if this really makes such a difference for digestion. And thank you for this helpful video!
Excellent tips! I try to practice most of these tips daily. Do you recommend using a pressure cooker? I've heard that pressure cooking preserves more of the nutrients. Steaming also helps retain the nutrients.
Hello from Belgium! I follow your channel but I'm pretty sure I miss some information because you speak so quickly that I don't have the time to get all the point. And also some words I don't know but that I can work on. Anyway, your videos are always nice to watch so thank you very much!
I have never seen any of your videos so I was curious. Great video! I am no expert by any means but studying and learning food health has substantially helped with my health. Thank you for including needed fats in this. So many people try the low fat fads and I believe it's very unhealthy to cut out all fats. Yes people may lose weight but not in a healthy way that lasts. I will be watching your videos from here on out
Hi Meghan would love for you to make videos for children with neurological disorders like adhd..autism..I already requested ..please..it would help so many
I'm NEW to Simple Living (but liking 80% of it). I always enjoy Nutrition Hacks but I wonder and am curious about the Minimalism/Simple Living "community' in a general way, as if, ---if I interviewed 100 such people....how many of them (again, I am talking just a basic, for-the-most-part, this is what the vast majority of them do, sorta thing)....how many of them: 1. Eat a hot off the grill Cheeseburger 2. or a Canadian Bacon & pepperoni PIZZA 3. or a drive-thru Chocolate Milkshake 4. go out to dinner and have TWO pint glasses of BEER ? 5. eat a chocolate SNICKERS candy bar? I'm really curious. Also, while I trust it isnt quite true, when someone is NEW to all this and watches some RUclips videos (from several people), one might get the wrong impression that "yeah, all those people sit around and drink 6 cups of green tea a day, eat yuppie-food like zuchinni and artichokes, and its all about Flaxseed and avacados. I am grateful for ALOT of useful and good information! But in the back of my mind, I wonder how extreme alot of people who are "into this stuff" go with it. Of course, it can be said: all we have to worry about is what WE, Ouselves, do"....true. But the curiosity is still there. Whats typical? and how much will folks still "let their hair down" and indulge a bit?
Love 💗 your tips !!! What are your thoughts on monk food sweetener ??? I love raw honey 🍯 but my husband doesn’t really like that in his coffee. I’m looking for a healthier sweetener for him ??

I like to cover my steeping tea to keep it hotter but now I know it has other benefits. Great video. : )

Any smoothies recipies without banana you can suggest? Allergic to banana but find most smoothies contain them.

Do you refrigerate your seeds?

Great comments especially number two (I always forget to do this!)
Great tips!!!!
I do masticate my food but by doing so does it create air bubbles n thus air gets into stomach n cause trouble in the future ?
Meghan, where did you get you degree? I’ve been thinking about becoming a nutritionist as well.
Such great tips! Love how you showed how to sprout legumes. Definitely trying this.
It's awesome to do, and so so easy. :)
Indian gooseberry fruit is highest Vitamin C . Very cheap and plenty.
Ohh yummy :)
Beautiful video! 👏🏻 do you have any smoothie recipes videos?
I do, yes! Just search 'smoothies' on my channel or on my blog. I also plan on sharing some more smoothie recipes soon xx
