I’ve read lots about this guy through out my life time. Didn’t really learn anything new here, but this presentation is very entertaining and very well put together. Well done sir, you’re a great story teller
Same, already knew the story. Watched it anyway though. I think the harsh weather had a lot to do with most of the kills. The Soviets were half frozen to death and didn't even want to fight to begin with. Too cold. All they were just trying to do was stay alive. It was -20 - -40 F most of that winter. And another big advantage he had was he was dressed in all white blending in with the freezing snow while the Soviets didn't have camouflage making them easily visible. Kind of like shooting fish in a barrel really.
Snake: EVA, I found that Sniper you were talking about EVA: That's Simo Häyhä. He's a legend, known as "The White Death" Snake: I've got experience sniping in urban and marine environments . . . EVA: What about during the winter? Snake: Never. Seems like this is gonna take a while. EVA: It'll be a test of endurance. Be careful, though. From what I've heard Häyhä has an almost supernatural knack for accuracy. He has more than 200 confirmed kills, and all of them were from ironsight. He thinks sun reflection in scopes are dead giveaways. Snake: He's not entirely wrong. This guy's a World War II Veteran, though, so I should have the advantage in terms of stamina. EVA: I wouldn't be so sure if I were you. Snake: Why's that? EVA: I've heard that he's also super cautious, obsessed even, about camouflaging in the snow. Back during the war, the Soviets mounted a massive artillery strike just to kill him alone. All that did was ripping his coat. Snake: What is he, some kind of Ghost? EVA: On top of that, he can speak to the snow too. Snake: So in other words, he knows the whole terrain inside out?
It usually doesn’t get anywhere near as cold as that where I am outside of Toronto. It’s -2 right now as I type. But yeah, when it gets that cold it is very dangerous. I couldn’t imagine -45 C. You’d need very specialized clothing to have any chance of surviving.

No, he rejected their TYPE of rifle. You can take the scope off. He used the scope a few times. and then eventually went back to his original rifle with iron sights.
He didnt use the scopes because the sun deflects on it. So it would give away his position. He even ate snow, so the enemy units dosent see something breathing in the snow.
@@notsus9804 actually he said that one more reason for that was that his head was littlebit lower than if you used a scope and then you are more visible and scopes could get foggy in cold weather and that what you said. so there was multiple reasons for not using it
No, that's a quote from a Polish mercernary called Rafał Gan-Ganowicz. When Simo Hayha was asked how he felt about killing over 500 men he answered: ''I only did my duty, and what I was told to do as well as I could.''
One big mistake on the video: Simo did not refuse to serve in Continuation War, our military refused to have him in service due to the nature of hes Witner War wounds. Othervise a very good video!
I just love this story bro, i love to be a sniper on BF5, so i read a lot about the great snipers from the history, and this White Death is the best for me :)
I'm sure scope glint is a major issue in your FPS game. But having freezing temps fog up and freeze up yer scope AINT . And that's the reason for iron sights in Finland.. nothing to do with scope glint.
There is also another reason, optics at the time were not good and the image and magnification left a lot to be desired. He gave 3 reasons apparently as to why not use one, glint of the scope, having to hold your head up higher and fogging up in cold conditions. It wasn't unusual for marksmen at the time to not use a scope, in most armies. Even 20+ years later in the Vietnam War they were still less common and still quite poor.
And if you are Finnish, sorry my peeps attacked. All I can say is grandpa was a pacifist and sawed off his own thumb to avoid going into battle so none of my direct bloodline helped.

Nice vid u done. 👌Thanks for bringin' history into light, in a unique way. The animations were great, and fun to watch. Even though the story of this man is quite known. Häyhä is a true legend. Even the young dudes in Finland know the stories 'bout him. Rest Easy S. Häyhä. ✌️
Something incredible about him is that he didn’t talk himself up. He got the job done. He was fighting for his country, and it only mattered that he needed to kill the enemy in his sight. He also said he never had bad dreams during or after the war. Usually with legends we can find some fault, some shortcoming that usually leads to the hero’s demise. But I can’t say as such with Simo.

Shame for his own safety and capacity of carrying out his mission he couldn't have anyone with him to chat with OR have food with while staking out his target. Must have been a very disciplined {& boring} job for the greater good. I'd like to have asked him what he do at those moments when he needed to use a toilet ❓
@@Friendship1nmillion He has been dead since 2002.
The path you choosed for a RUclipsr seems a hard one!! This is a lot of work! I really hope you succed my friend
AMAZING WORK
The guy is backed by infographics. The channel with 5.9 mil subs and is a company.
The infografics show shouted you out , very good video, i am 100% staying here
no this is another channel that they made
thomas crothers yes i realized it after watching the video, i only saw it in the comments
Maximus Productions check my reply ^^^^
Maximus Productions its aight
This. This is what makes me watch youtube all the time.
White death didnt like the goverments sniper because the scope had a sunlight glare
He didnt use a scope
No, he rejected their TYPE of rifle. You can take the scope off. He used the scope a few times. and then eventually went back to his original rifle with iron sights.
Idiot?
He didnt use the scopes because the sun deflects on it. So it would give away his position. He even ate snow, so the enemy units dosent see something breathing in the snow.
@@notsus9804 actually he said that one more reason for that was that his head was littlebit lower than if you used a scope and then you are more visible and scopes could get foggy in cold weather and that what you said. so there was multiple reasons for not using it
That's not the main reason, besides you can literally just take off the scope if you don't want it, all guns have iron sights.
Love the graphics, mood, narration, music and all that shite.
Ok Squirrel ASMR
Yeah
@@pubby4155 okay rusty trombone! 🙃
Why does the narratior speak with a russian axent.
@@AaronWoodardExperienceOnX it is a slight one.
One mistake: Simo wanted to go To continuation war but Doctors didnt let him go
Topias H Small correction.
The army did not let him go.
@@XtreeM_FaiL Ok
Exactly
@@XtreeM_FaiL It's a violation of human rights to send soldiers to their imminent death, no?
@@cykablyatthemovie2424 Probably, which raises the question why Soviets wanted to do it so hard.
I never get tired of hearing....or reading about this man.
Simo was once asked "Whats it like to kill another human?"
He replied:
"I wouldn't Know. I only killed communists"
@Tom fac
No, that's a quote from a Polish mercernary called Rafał Gan-Ganowicz.
When Simo Hayha was asked how he felt about killing over 500 men he answered:
''I only did my duty, and what I was told to do as well as I could.''
@@rocketman4123 Thank you
I'm communist
@@williama5001 then hope the white death doesn't spot you lol
One big mistake on the video: Simo did not refuse to serve in Continuation War, our military refused to have him in service due to the nature of hes Witner War wounds. Othervise a very good video!
Guys keep up the good work with this new channel👏👏👏
Simo rarely went for a headshot but always aimed for the center of mass.
I love the accents on these videos
autumn the moth same but they messed up their names
Mixar which names?
@@shmonn. Probably meant the pronouncing since they were off
The "finnish accent" in this video is horrible to be honest

@@lGipsyDanger you're in the snipers sight!
For real simo häyhä wanted to serve his country on continunation war but he got rejected because he was 'injured'
I just love this story bro, i love to be a sniper on BF5, so i read a lot about the great snipers from the history, and this White Death is the best for me :)
*when you get to lvl 100 with the default gear*
Level 100.... hahaha
damn smurfs
His method of sniping without a scope is exactly how I snipe in first person shooters. Scope glint is a dead giveaway.
Finnish people do not have russian accents, okay?
As a Russian I can assure you that if it's an attempt at a "russian accent", it's horrible.
@@murzagildin yeah i can agree with that, i couldn't really think of any other accents that could have been it really
True, and it faded away as the video continued. Maybe an amalgamation of Hollywood villians accents?
And if you are Finnish, sorry my peeps attacked. All I can say is grandpa was a pacifist and sawed off his own thumb to avoid going into battle so none of my direct bloodline helped.
@@murzagildin Yup it kinda reminded of a cliched russian Hollywood villain, and it's okay, most of finnish society has forgiven the russians for the winter war, and it was really Stalin who we hate not the russians, so it's okay :) but some of us finns want back the lands we lost especially Karelia or as we finns call it Karjala, and man that's sad, my own crandpa was 17 years old when he was forced into fighting in the continuation war and he has suffered some ptsd from fighting and he was also shot in the arm sadly he passed away in the 80s
Simo is a hero. Hope finns never forget what we sweds did for them. I wish our bands would be way stronger then they are. United north!:)
You refused to let the allies go through you land so they could help finland you
@@trevordoo6866 The Allies gave fuck all about Finland. They just wanted to occupy the Swedish iron ore mines and "helping Finland" was the ruse. As a Finn I applaud the Swedes for their steadfastness in the matter.
That dude is a legend. Truly the greatest sniper ever.
What a legend! Snipe with the iron sight!! ONly legends can do that! Respect to u man!!
Yes
Why does a finnish sniper have a russian accent lmao
Lmao True
@@couqueza4169 I live near Lappeenranta, I know the difference between a russian and a Finnish accent. Ive heard this accent More than youd ever know.

Love this guy, I know the Finns are so dedicated to their training..... good going during the war,,,, you taught them a lesson....... never mess with a Finn.

The first one was so good looking forward for the next ones
This bad ass used iron sights so they couldn’t see the glint from a scope
In Russia you use a scope.
In Finland you die if you have a scope
He knew the cold weather would fog up a scope so that was also a major factor in not using one.
He can keep his head lower without scope and that is real reason why he don't use scope.
@@jeremystewert4303 i mean using a black scope while being in white snow is kinda easy to spot but if that's what he said then okay
Imagine his K/D
Ironic that snipers are usually represented by their scopes by the community but the best sniper doesn’t even use them
Nice vid u done. 👌Thanks for bringin' history into light, in a unique way. The animations were great, and fun to watch. Even though the story of this man is quite known. Häyhä is a true legend. Even the young dudes in Finland know the stories 'bout him. Rest Easy S. Häyhä. ✌️
And he still has the highest confirmed sniper kills to this day
This people is what you call true skill and true smarts
Something incredible about him is that he didn’t talk himself up. He got the job done. He was fighting for his country, and it only mattered that he needed to kill the enemy in his sight.
He also said he never had bad dreams during or after the war.
Usually with legends we can find some fault, some shortcoming that usually leads to the hero’s demise. But I can’t say as such with Simo.
what's amazing is that he is still the most deadliest sniper till this day nobody's has beaten his record is legend lives on even with him gone
