The bachur is correct that it is very difficult to stay pure, and Rav Yaron Reuven is correct in stating that it is a very severe prohibition. I didn't like the comment that he was "sorry they had him as a student." He should be welcome to the Bet Midrash and should be given guidance how to stay on a Torah path. And if he fails and has a little fallout, he can wake up in the morning, do teshuva and get restarted. This is not a reason to abandon the path of Torah.

@@Hozrim-BeTshuva-Ve-Nigalim the guy, asking the questions clearly hit a nerve and triggered the Rabbi to where he felt the need to insult him personally, rather than actually answering theses serious questions and problems we have in our Jewish community.
These rabbis may be good for people learning all day in yeshiva in which he can just tell him anything but definitely not the right kind of Rabbi to outreach and help young people, and those with actual questions, and reason why they are choosing to leave the Jewish community.

The Rabbi is clearly not qualified to respond to psycho-neurological issues. Theological rigidity leads to major psychosexual problems. This is a persistent problem in the orthodoxy of all faiths.
Also, bringing up some fantastical indictment of Jesus in the sewers of hell is misplaced and speaks to his frustration with the young man. Disappointing!!

@@HowlingWo1f I understand what you mean. I watched this many times to see the "insult", I didn't find. Please give me an example where the 'insult' is? every Rabbi can answer in a little different way, according to the Tora only, and what he said is true. And if a Rabbi says to someone asking that he's wrong, or that's not true, it's not an insult - it's part of the explanation. If you say something that is not true according to the Torah, that means you are wrong.

Interestingly enough rav Nachman says to have the former , and the Mesilas Yesharim says women and kid have the latter and one might start with the former but the Essence is to have the latter. You can’t truly love someone and be in a happy relationship with them if you constantly think “if I miss saying a Bracha I’m going to boil in poop forever”. Eitherway, yaron is hilarious how he says he can bring 3000 proofs, he obviously got insulted and that’s what led to the exaggerated anwser. Oy vey

As a survivor of child abuse and manipulation by my late Father, who was not Jewish, I pleaded with G-d as a small boy to take me back. I knew nothing about religion as both my parents rejected the religions they were brought up with because of authoritariansm; my father turned from christianity and my late Mom turned from Judaism because of persecutuon from society and thought hiding being Jewish was the answer. It was not. She got her own personal persecutor in the form of my Dad, not for being Jewish but for being human. I am sure there are some texts which are used to justify why he abused her also.
I do not know the full conversation here, but what I hear in this clip shows this Rabbi, like many I have met since learning Torah Judaism over the past 15 years, is so focussed on mussar for bad behavior, which includes child abuse, he does not know the love of Hashem and seems to have no compassion for survivors. Who is he?
I believe for most people, real fear of Hashem comes from knowing I am loved so much, I would not want to go against my eternal Abba. Only someone intent on evil behavior needs the kind of fear this Rabbi speaks of. In my life I have seen the people who need this ignore it and behave like child molestors do. They will face their behavior in gehenna but wouldnt it be better in this life?
When I left behind the emotional blackmail of christianity and sought answers to my questions they would or could not answer, I found that the reason I was attracted to evangelical christianity was the quotes in their writings from Rabbi Hillel and others. Christians presume Jews do not know the love of G-d. The way this Rabbi talks makes me think he takes for granted or never had love from his parents. As a result this emphasis on mussar has hurt many people I have met. Like the questioner says, I challenge the rabbinical sources used to ignore the lives of survivors. I relate to the ignorance of the body which spoiled any chance if a loving marriage. It has taken 30 years of trying to recover to get to a more healthy awareness of my body and feel a woman could love me for who I am and vice versa.

*(I hope this helps, also I want to receive an answer from you)*
What the rabbi says (as I understand it) is that the sources provided by the Torah/Talmud are sufficient enough to end this situation. For example, if both (children and adults) knew halacha according to the forbidden relationships and abuse, both will understand what not to do, and also understand if they are being subjected to something bad without their knowledge.
So what the Rabbi proposes is that there is no need to "know your body" in order to understand what is good and what is bad, since the sources explain this to us in sufficient detail. (All we need is to learn about it and not hide it)

    • @Etobicoke67
      @Etobicoke67 2 года назад +2

@@Nicolas-kv9ib Of course the ideal situation is that everyone knows right from wrong and have parents who bring us up with such experience of Hashem's love that it is obvious when someone who appears to be a tzaddik behaves like a rasha.
What does "know your body" mean? I believe it means that one grows up with a sense of respect for one's own body and can enjoy the sensations which G-d has given us to enjoy. I can only speak from experience, that sexual behavior enacted in front of or forced on a child produces shame of one's body. The reaction of the child to this when puberty begins or develops is 1] to go into fear and denial of the body, such as in various ascetic religions around the world and see the body as evil or 2] to rebel against any restraint in order take control of the body and "enjoy" it in an compulsive way, whether in secret remaining within the community, as long as the community does not know, or rejecting the community/Torah Judaism/G-d. Chaim Walder possibly re-enacted abuse done to him because he had the knowledge but had to deny the reality of the shocking experience because he was desperate for love and attention. So unless we know our bodies and that it is natural to need affection, then corrupt "affection" can seem to fulfil that need.
As I said before, this Rabbi seems to take for granted the innocence and safety he grew up with, or is in denial of his own abuse. Not everyone is in a position to enact knowledge. Many other factors are involved, which affect one's ability to learn and enact what one learns, including social, psychological, emotional and familial.
Do we not put tefillin on each week day in order to allow Hashem to bring balance to the passions and thoughts of our heart, and balance to our soul which is in the brain and other sensations and faculties which originate in the brain?
Yes, we need to learn it, but not everyone is able to learn the same way or live in a community which cares for each individual, but just want conformity as a sign of love and fear of G-d.

Ok, I read your comment again. Since this video is just a clip, I think we miss a lot of context. The reason I wrote *"there's no need to know your body"* was based on what I heard in this part of the video (1:28-1:36).
The guy at the beginning of the video says that repressing certain desires causes bad things to happen, later on he asks why God allows nocturnal emissions if it is a sin.
I think the rabbi responds that way because what the guy said, seemed like an insinuation that fulfilling certain desires is not wrong.
That is why the Rabbi tells him that there are many sources that disapprove what he is saying, because the solution that the guy apparently proposed is the root of the problem itself.
Rabbi Reuven once said that when someone is promiscuous with themselves when they are not pleased enough, they start to be promiscuous with other people (even if the other people don't want to).

    From what it seems,
That bachur is very holy and seeking truth and a sincere connection to the creator., that so called rabbi is just another brainwashed puritanical christian ideologue spewing torah with a negative tone, just appears Jewish .
Not his fault, he's just not well, like so many.
The apparent prohibition of "Wasting seed" was to teach the holy jews not to waste the potential for pleasure lest we lose our special connection to the creator, which is apparently and obviously what has happened and increased by all these misguided teachers like this rabbi.
We were created out of pleasure, we continue living because of pleasure, very obvious the creator wants us to have and engage in pleasure , as best as possible.
All those 3 thousand or so sources the rabbi has will support this , anyone with an open heart will understand.
The Zohar was very clear about this.
May the jewish nation heal from all this abuse so we can live with the true wisdom of the Torah!

    And he said:
Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.
You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.
You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite, and He bends you with His might that His arrows may go swift and far.
    Let your bending in the archer’s hand be for gladness;
For even as He loves the arrow that flies, so He loves also the bow that is stable.

There is no denying the fact that am israel does not get along

One has to accept that we are in galus, we are all living with pain

that there is no changing what the torah says.
You 100% are not allowed to spill semen in vain.
This is not a matter of opinion.
I have also suffered tremendously not finding a shiduch,
and the sexual repression and suffering is unbearable.
But I still live according to the halacha and
hold myself. I do not judge anyone who fails in this,

have a yetzer hara that is always ready to trip us up.

What I've learned from the Torah is that there really isn't a punishment for these accidents except that one should wash himself (mikve) and seperate himself for seven days and on the eighth day offer the sacrifice. Yes, if one failed to do this there were bigger complications. But nocturnal emissions is totally normal during the time of purity. It is the time when a child is becoming a man. It's a subject that should be looked upon with a more mature understanding and not offensively. Wasting seed on purpose under a clear prohibition by the Torah (sexual relations outside of marriage) does come with a penalty. That is my reason for believing the rabbi lost. @@ms.fabolusmorgan4279 I totally understand that hurt people can lash out at the systems they know around them.
However the guy arguing there actually has an open agenda to take Jews out of Torah observance. Like a missionary for atheism.
I’ve seen him at multiple lectures and his only interest was to undermine God and the Torah.
What I saw that lecture was him finally being confronted by someone with a little spine. To the point where he stormed out of the lecture. GOOD.

    He only speaks TRUTH.

He's a lowlife scam artist. There's a reason 98% of the religious world has zero respect for him.

He is a mere mortal, concerned with making people fear God which is ridiculous. God is love and compassion, there is nothing to fear and if you believe you can only please God by fearing him what kind of God do you believe in?

Rabbi Yaron Reuven is one of the best English speaking rabbis in our generation hands down!
Please check out his channel and you will see for yourself that what he says is truth.
This short video shows the Rabbi in a bad light only because we don’t know what was discussed prior to this clip.

If this is really the best speaking rabbis of this generation , then I can't imagine the Jewish nation going any lower in lack of wisdom and the final redemption will be forced upon us.
May hashem have mercy on us!

If you tell mainstream Orthodox Jews that R, Reuven is your Rabbi you'll be laughed out of the synagogue. Reuven is a joke in the regular religious jewish world.

@@JNNK-fs7bsthe Rav is not a Rasha, the only reason you agree with the Rasha is either because you do the same this Chalilah Ve Chalilah, or you just don’t know the whole context of the argument. Spilling in vain in any way is forbidden, the only reason for nocturnal emissions is because of something you saw during the day, or sometimes consuming certain foods before sleep. The Chachamim talk about this extensively, including Rambam, so just check him out, and this Rasha can stop

Just because he disagreed, had an opinion or asked a question doesn't make anyone a rasha. + if he exposes child molesters then he is doing great Mitzvot
