Dude, thank you so much for this! I have the same issue on mine and was looking for videos on how to do it, cause like you’ve I’ve been dreading it. Appreciate all the details, I now know I need to invest in an induction heater immediately lmao
Wanted to say Thanks as well Kurt! Of all the videos covering this topic, yours gave me the courage to try to tackle this. The induction heater was absolutely essential, well worth the 200 bucks I paid for it. Too tight to get a torch in there for sure. Also, I was able to get the lower front stud (the super PITA one) cracked loose with a 1/2" drive breaker bar, U joint and 15mm deep socket from directly below in between the motor mount and the AC compressor. My F150 is 2WD though, looks like the 4WD would require dropping the front drive axle.
That was a great video - very informative. I have a check engine light because of a misfire on cylinders 3 & 4 - It could be related to the manifold, but I want to get to the intake valves and it requires taking the manifold off so I will be using this video as reference. Can't wait for the installation video - please keep us posted.
Hey, thanks for making a video like this im putting long tube headers on my truck. I bought the induction heater you have. I'm hoping i dont have to lift the engine to put them in.
Thanks for the video - it’s not easy to film this stuff. I have a 2011 5.0 so it was nice to see how this is done. Good work my man. Also - did you see you have a missing bolt on your transmission pan?
I noticed that while filming the video but appreciate you pointing it out thanks! It gives a whole different level appreciation for those that film high quality auto videos because even doing a video this crappy isn’t easy 😂😂
The first thing I did when I bought my 2011 F150 5.0 with 100k on it was drop the pan and change the fluid and filter. From crawling under there so much I saw it right away. Those 6R80s will go and go if you take care of them. Pan drop is fairly straightforward - the “lifetime” transmission fluid is a bunch of BS spun up by the manufacturer to claim low cost of ownership. Once the warranty is over - they could care less about second or third owners like you and I. In any event - I did the trans, front and read diff fluid, transfer case, coolant and break fluid flush as soon as I bought it. Also undercoated it with Blaster Surface Shield - I hope to get another 200k.
Holy rust bucket.. good on you for fixing it and learning but few things I'll point out that bugged me lol 144 point ratchet? 144 tooth you mean lol also I couldn't help but notice the giant cracks in the frame on the passenger side that would scare the fuck outta me alone! If you're able find another frame or have someone a welder fix those cracks before it becomes more unsafe to drive. Again good on your for attacking this job🤘
I've seen guys torch off the nut and end of the stud, get the manifold off and then pull out the studs and install new studs and nuts. Saved a bunch of time.
Haven’t seen it done on a 5.0l before but I’m sure you could do that. Only thing I’d consider is if part of the stud is still left in place, you might not have space to drop the manifold out. Pulling the studs entirely from the start allows the manifold to drop directly down and out. I haven’t tried that way, but my goal was just to try and extract every stud in tact.
Yeah I know I’m a shit speaker and my videos are cringe. Just was hoping this could help someone with the same issue since I couldn’t find a shop willing to touch thing thing nor a video online that would show how to get this thing off.
Yeah sorry if the vide quality wasn’t too great but yeah the rust ate this thing alive. It was flaking off the manifold like crazy. It’s not as common on the 5.0l but I’m sure as these get older they’ll get more common. These manifolds look and feel exactly like the ones in the 5.4l
@@thetypicalhomeowner6006 have a crack in the exact same place, starting mine tomorrow. Fingers crossed it goes as well as yours did. I tried on an older 5.4 and nothing went well, said screw it, took it to a shop and paid the dollars on that one :(
When I took my 5.4 manifolds' out, I first took a air hammer/chisel to it and broke into several pieces.. Much easier to get it completely out.. No harm to engine..
Only did one side that’s why. I didn’t have time to do both as I needed my truck back ASAP. Also, I didn’t want to replace my entire exhaust and really didn’t want this truck to be loud so I just went with the factory option. Trust me, I investigated that option lol
I’m not a public speaker.. not the point of the video. If this video helps one person replace their manifold without taking it to a shop, this video served it’s purpose.
Good video! Definitely was in the same boat, could not find any videos, thanks again!

Worth the investment! As these get older I feel this will become a more common issue

As long as the studs don’t bust, you should be ok although getting the headers in might be a different story lol
Sounds exactly like mine same truck and colour but mines a crew cab nice video
The clamps on crossover added to stop rattling on poor weld on shield

Good job mha boy! You got a new subscriber 🎉
Nice job
I think my manifold is leaking, except it makes the ticking the whole time doesnt sound quite as loud as that. You think it could be a manifold gasket

Quality Ford engineers..lol
Such a pain in the ass

I straight through I done cooked the coyote till I saw this video that’s a relief
Hard to tell from the video but was it the rust that got it? Doesn't seem to common on the 5.0

Which induction heater did you use?
This man took his exhaust manifolds off and didn’t replace them with headers

Did you not see the clap that separates the cats left to right lmfao omg bro 😭
what a nightmare working on this truck is lol
IT WAS PRETTY BLAND
Should have bought a Toyota or Honda.....
All I hear from you is "aaahh" then you smack your lips. I can't take more than 15 seconds of that.
