I normally don't comment or write reviews, but I had this land cruiser built the way I wanted it, I requested everything from the paint color to the L33 motor, and there were many reasons for this. I had it build for myself the way I wanted it, not the way others would like it. I just wanted to say I seriously doubt many people could build a land cruiser to this quality and surly not for the price! So bottom line I just wanted to thank Greg and his team for truly building a truck that was a dream of mine since I was 14, I will never sell it!
Dale Manahan this might be a personal question but I’m really interested in knowing how much did this project cost you. I have the same land cruiser which was passed on from my grandfather. Is in bad shape right now but would love to do something like this. Is actually the same color
Hi Dale, good for you! The dream is yours. The build just makes me smile, and it's just that awesome in the configuration you wanted. It's the quintessential FJ in my opinion. Enjoy!
Beautiful job Greg. I helped my dad build a 75 FJ40 back in the 80s and it was the same color. He sold it in the late 90s as well as his 84 FJ60 in 2011. He regrets it now. I just bought a extremely clean original, rust free 90 FJ62 in the fall of 2017 and did a resto-mod on it as well. The 3F engine was tired but the previous owner had a brand new H55F 5speed manual transmission installed. So I replaced the 3F with a LS3 Erod package using a Marks adapter, added a rear disc brake/full floater axle conversion, using Toyota components, SOA with a front shackle reversal and 35s. Lots of R&D and time, and it attracts a crowd at local shows in California. It also stops, rides, handles, and preforms better than it did when new. People just don't understand how much time and fabrication goes into a top end build plus making it reliable for everyday use, plus having them pass smog, especially in California. Keep up the excellent work, you did a fine job on that FJ40.👍👍👍👍👍
I'm in California and I'm about to do a couple of 'end of the project' FJ40s (1984s) over the next year. The effort and craftsmanship seen here is highly impressive.
I love the channel! I am restoring a 1977 FJ40 with my 13 year old son. We just started a RUclips channel and are learning a TON!! Thanks for the cool vids and motivation!!
Man i love this.. i actually have one of this but the ute version. Been grounded for awhile and still here. I wish i can have it on the road again. This vid motivates me start work on my beast. Great job
OMG!....You guy's knocked this one way out of the park for sure. This is my favourite vehicle of all time. I have been a long time fan of Johnathan Ward and I'd compare this to any of his vehicles. I absolutely love your channel and I have many wonderful videos to watch. I wish that all of your team live to well over 250 year's old so you can make many stunning vehicles for worthy customers for evermore..... Outstanding attention to detail. Wonderful craftsmanship and without a doubt, passionate builder's of one-off dream machines..... Again, thank you very much for an excellent and informative video.
Yeah I’m a toyota fj40 fun 100%. Greg is one of the best restoration shops seen very detail, very immaculate work. It’s sad that only takes high end jobs, I wish they are shops like this that offers a service not like this level of restoration but a affordable price so we can have one our cars restor to a decent level.
Very nice… just about to purchase my first FJ40 project car…. looking forward to it. Since I’m 25, hopefully I’ll get it done in my own in time to enjoy it for the rest of my life
A 1fz or 3f motor would have been my choice. I find that most people go the V8 route nowadays. Overall very nice build quality and attention to detail. Good job guys!
I have a Toyota Land Cruiser if I ever think about putting a ingine I’ll put the Toyota v8 5.7 Is a better ingine you can put a million miles in it . Or put a turbo in my fj 80 Toyota is a good quality . When you put a Chevy or Ford It loses his value
Bottom line is the happy customer. Yes the motor is not Toyota, not really that uncommon for guys to convert them over though. Likely it will now be easier to maintain and repair with American parts. And it sounds awesome. Also there is a nice FJ now running for a long time because of this restoration.
Nice Video, thanks! I’m fixing up a FJ 1970. Everything is original on it and pretty good shape. Any idea how to get the upper Black Dash, not the cover cap.? Need lower dash pad as well I can’t find the exact original shape and style. Your are amazing. Thank you
Ive owned fj40 off and on since the 1980. The best times Ive had in them was off road. They can crawl through things and go places many others just couldn't. Problem is nowadays they are worth so much, especially when you fix them up like this you dont want to bounce them off trees and boulders and burry them in mud. Unless you have bottomless pickets the fun is gone as they are now show ponies. I find it depressing.
Awesome job on that restoration.. Certainly a amazingly finished vehicle.. Nothing done that good is ever inexpensive so I gotta ask.. What does something like that cost? I've seen late 60's early 70's Bronco restorations go for 100 to 200 grand so are you somewhere in that ballpark?

Nice Cruiser and nice Man Cave Dale. Thumbs up buddy...

I am a huge fan of the FJ Restomods for many years thanks the Jonathan Ward. You guys knocked it out of the park!
Make sure to watch our 71 we just posted a few months ago. Tops this build by x10
My Dream 4X4 of all time! Best Resto-Mod I've seen!
I need to find a hardtop for mine. I have a 75 cruiser, my dad is the original owner. I learned how to drive using it. Greatest rig ever.

Well done lads! Cruiser looks sick
Excellent video guys, it was informative & gave me alot of ideas. Please build and film more FJ's !
Very nicely done!!! I would have loved to see a Cummins engine in it or Toyota V8 but it was probably way too expensive!
This truck is tougher.. Than modern cars.... I've been searching for this truck for year.. Rebuild it.. And drive it down to the road 😍🤘🔥🔥🔥❤️

"2F-E". Longer stroke of the 2F combined with the cylinder head and EFI system from a 3F-E. Much more low end power than a 3F-E.
awesome job. wish i can get one like this
As soon as I heard it... I stopped the video.

People don't get what made these cars special were their Reliable Motors...and don't tell me "oh it was make for a chevy motor from Japan"
Verry - verry good look 👍
Wish I had another, they were good trucks. I had a 75, and a 80
Good job
GREAT JOB !

Silverado engine???
No, thank you.
Should have used a Toyota powerplant...
Versus stock six cyl, Gain of several hundred HP and lose several hundred pounds
Looks Great - But needs to be Diesel for off road...
Would love for Toyota to bring these back in some form so I can buy it!
Good job ........ How much does it cost to renew a Jeep ... and what is the engine?
