    "Stop it!" I really loved that you put that out there, thanks. Great Fj40's these two and I've learned a lot from your channel in general about all things Land Cruisers. Keep up the great work. Cheers!

    Great video and beautiful rig. Question - what does your reverse shackle do differently than say a shackle that you find in a typical suspension lift kit?

    • @procruiser
      @procruiser  Год назад

      It's a long explanation. I dedicated a segment to it in a previous episode but I can't remember which one. In a nutshell, the front axle now responds to bumps by moving up and away from them instead of up and towards them as it would have with the shackle up front. That, and there are fewer bushings up front that can wear and allow the steering to wander.

    How did you achieve that super flat steering geometry in the older restomod? Was it just the dropped pitman arm? Anything else “special”? I have a similar era Land Cruiser, and I am trying to eliminate the bump steer that my current sloped steering arms are giving me…. (Thanks for all your great help.)

    • @procruiser
      @procruiser  Год назад

      It's because of the 60 series steering. Mounting the box the way we do just puts the stock 60 series arm in the perfect place.

    • @JB-tg5ss
      @JB-tg5ss Год назад +1

      So it’s 60’s series steering on a 40’s series truck! Thanks a lot. I’m gonna try it!!

      @procruiser  Год назад

      @@JB-tg5ss Yes, 60 series, but I might recommend using a 80 series box. They are much easier to get new (aftermarket) now. We are just beginning to consider this ourselves.

    Also, if you are using a lot of oil, lots of blow by, and you are not ready for a rebuild or top end job, change the oil, but use, a straight weight, non detergent, 70 weight MOTOR OIL, no additives, and all the smoke, blow by, and plug fowling will STOP! IMMEDIATELY! Change it every 3 to 4000 miles, but I would not run it like that for over 60,000. I put over 600,000 on a 75, but when I took it apart, ( was running decent), some of the pistons was missing most of the skirts, all oil rings were gone, ( both sets) and the back two pistons only had one oil ring, ( the skirts and rings were buried in hardened sludge , oil pan) would never believe an engine would even run, but I had no idea, because it ran decent.

      Yep, did I say 76? If so, my bad. Sometimes when I get rambling on camera, I say things that later when I hear them I go "What was I thinking?"
