I've got a name I thought of and want to use, but it's taken on Twitch and Facebook, Facebook doesn't matter. The username checker site seems to be incorrect though and says the name is taken on Reddit, it's not, don't think it's taken on Twitter either. The name is 2 words and ends in Fox, I can either make it Foxx for everything or just Foxx for Twitch and Fox for everything else.. I don't know. What would be best? I don't think it's so bad to add an extra x at the end in this circumstance since it already ends in an x. Or I can just use Foxx only on Twitch and maybe Fox will become available at some point so I can change to that, I don't think I'll be streaming so it'll most likely be a chat name. What would you do? What I mostly care about is majority of sites: YT, possibly Twitter but not important, Reddit and maybe as a gaming handle for PSN etc.
If you are set on the name, then go with a double X on all platforms. Having unity in your names is a very important step to make it easy for people to find you.
@@ContentDelta True, thanks for the reply. I actually came up with another one which doesn't appear to be taken anywhere and is only 7 characters. Would you recommend starting a new channel since it would also match with the gmail address & youtube name? I heard you can rebrand the channel and give ownership to a new email but it seems fiddly and it also removes all current comments once you do that. They should just let you change name & email without hassle tbh.
When you are on social media where the attention span is low, you need to be able to be recognisable in 3 seconds. It is all about brand recognition. When there is someone called Woodsy who is either a bigger streamer or goes around getting banned for breaking the rules and then you come in as Woodsy_. People will immediately think you are just evading the van and you are the same person. The same goes for when people see you on other platforms and then come back to Twitch: "Oh I saw them on RUclips. Let's check them out on Twitch! - Was it with or without the underscore? Ah nevermind..."
I hate seeing TTV in people's Twitch names. On games it makes sense I guess but you are already on Twitch you don't need it in your name too. Just looks dumb imo.
I agree that it doesn't look great and the problem is that there is probably someone called that without the TTV too, so who are viewers and sponsors going to find?
@@ContentDelta They just need to do better research. I am in the process of changing my name on everything and I checked every site that I planned on use to make 100% sure my new name wasn't taken in any way.
Honestly, that's why I highlight Namechk.com - It takes 30 seconds and it checks all these sites for you. When I made my channel I had to do it all manually as well, and this is just so much easier.
@@ContentDelta This site is not always accurate sadly. My name that I use for Twitch (use to it is changed now) It said it wasn't taken on a few of them but when I went to "claim" all of them they were taken already. And for the one I have now it said it was taken on Twitch and when I wanted to see who had it there was no one who did.
Icarus was very X rated!

Whats wrong with adding underscore at the end of the name? Do you think WoodsyWarrior is better than Woodsy_ ?

At least you didn't have 69 thrown into the Icarus name :D
Good vid and I couldn't disagree with anything in it :)
I know, right? Can always be worse!

Interesting! I did not know that. I thought it was always accurate. - I will keep that in mind, thanks!
Would you recommend I change my username to the same one as my RUclips name my current name is NinjaGeckko
It is definitely a possibility! Many people will look for NinjaGecko, so something a little more unique would be good
@@ContentDelta okay thank you for your reply
my first online game was XxXKiller77XxX lool the xxx was very common
It really was! Nowadays though? Much rarer!
