As much as I like "You Can't Turn Me Off", sometimes I like this one even better...and then I switch back....I can't decide...good thing I don't have to make a choice!! I can just enjoy them both!!
have liked this song for so long, but must have lost the album that i had years ago. song has been on my mind forever. decades have gone by and can't find this album or their others on cd. not even a greatest hits cd. what is motown waiting for??? now the good news, just read that ALL of their albums will be released in a multi cd set in march 2012. what a long wait its been for "love is all you need" and "he's a pretender".
On this day in 1978 {July 29th} High Inergy performed "Love Is All You Need" on the late Dick Clark's American Bandstand... Four months earlier on March 4th it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #89 and spent 5 weeks on the Top 100 chart... The four member all girl Motown group disbanded in 1984... Group founder Gwen Fuqua {& sister of Berry Gordy} passed away on November 8th, 1999 at age 71... R.I.P. Ms. Fuqua & Mr. Clark...
......shoot! this took me back to the days when I was a pup...I knew EVERYTHING, so I thought.....thanks for this! High Energy was dancin music.......serious all night good old days dancin music.....I miss those days...anybody else miss 'em too?
When I was in the 10th grade I bought this album and played it until the grooves were nubs! I recall riding with an older friend to check out his (possible) college campus that fall and we played this album the whole time! It was my first time seeing a college campus and all these students were hanging out, playing football, having parties, throwing a Frizzbee, and all that with no parents around! I was shocked, then thrilled! I couldn't wait for a couple of years to go by so I could go myself!! Turning On will always be part of that cherished teenage memory!
sorry for giving wrong information in an earlier post. march 2012 will see release of a single cd hits collection , around 20 songs. considering none of their many albums are on cd, this will be a most welcome collection.
Love this song, thank you for posting! They sang this on American Bandstand along with YCTMO back in 1978! These ladies were so talented and underrated! If Motown or whoever owns the rights releases their music on CD, it will be a miracle!
Motown failed these ladies by not promoting them properly...These ladies were first rate singers and dancers and should have gone to a better record company.
none of their albums are available except for cd's and albums still lingering...i don't know why motown is holding them...somebody's not doing their job...
Love is all you need...all you need is love ❤ and some peace ✌

Had the original album. All these songs were there. Only You Can't Turn Me Off got airplay .
Hard to believe that they were all just teenagers when they recorded this!🙂

I think this is one of HI's best songs--but not sure it should have been released as a single. It's more of an R&B song than pop IMO.
YO, IM STILL UP LISTEN TO THIS SHIT, 1:42 AM.
I have the album but odd that I cant find it in digital
