But no different than an opera singer-- they rarely use microphones and "cut" the band. Nothing different than what she does-- but she's not a one trick pony. Patti has an absolutely amazing voice, with so much agility! Her softer notes are simply beautiful-- and her control to switch to it and right out if she feels like it is insane.

Chuck Jackson "l Don't Want To Cry" Johnny Rivers "Seventh Son" The Ronettes "Be My Baby" and Martha & The Vandellas.

Most of the clips were from previous shows so this could have been from an earlier Murray the K Christmas or Easter show held at the Fox. Doesn’t really matter as they were unbelievable in person. I went to almost every one of his shows and the Bluebelles were in several of them. They sound good in this video but they killed this song every time they appeared live. The audience went absolutely crazy...especially near the end.

@@PhillySoulable Nona was the one of the group, agreed, but Sarah was the glue. Patti and Nona were known for butting heads occasionally. Sarah has that calm, loving persona. I don't know Cindy much so I can't speak on her. But Cindy was not filling Sarah's shoes with those notes. Some of the best Labelle live moments is when Sarah comes in with that powerful soprano. I'm not sure if Cindy could do that. I know Cindy can hit a few notes like Patti though. I think LaBelle would have never happened if Cindy stayed or Sarah left. Maybe a whole different vocal group would have emerged or it would have just ended for all. Who knows.

So no I don't think she has the persona to allow a LaBelle to form/thrive because she already shown that she was not willing to stick it out with them.
I love cindy so much but her vocals wasn't that powerful with both Group in this video Cindy voice is lower than the other she had a high pitch range but couldn't belt it out like patti or Flo and she knew that it made her feel insecure to where she didn't want to sing lead but her vocals where perfect even though she couldn't belt it out
Interesting analysis. It is too bad that Cindy didn't have more confidence in terms of her singing, because she could have easily taken over the lead spot in The Supremes when Diana Ross left in 1970. Cindy was no Jean Terrell for sure, but for the kinds of songs The Supremes were doing in the 70s, Cindy would have been fine singing lead. Her voice was close enough in range to Diana's to not be a major departure from what fans of the group were used to. I watched Cindy's solo show from the 80s, and my one caveat is that she would have needed to relax her pronunciations a bit to sound a little less proper. But singing behind a singer as stellar as Patti LaBelle and then joining The Supremes with a bunch of hoopla and scrutiny she didn't ask for, I can see why Cindy didn't have the confidence to assert herself.
We are lucky to have Patti LaBelle today, giving her flowers as she's been in the game over 60 years and still singing.

I love cindy so much but her vocals wasn't that powerful with both Group in this video Cindy voice is lower than the other she had a high pitch range but couldn't belt it out like patti or Flo and she knew that it made her feel insecure to where she didn't want to sing lead but her vocals where perfect even though she couldn't belt it out
Interesting analysis. It is too bad that Cindy didn't have more confidence in terms of her singing, because she could have easily taken over the lead spot in The Supremes when Diana Ross left in 1970. Cindy was no Jean Terrell for sure, but for the kinds of songs The Supremes were doing in the 70s, Cindy would have been fine singing lead. Her voice was close enough in range to Diana's to not be a major departure from what fans of the group were used to.
I watched Cindy's solo show from the 80s, and my one caveat is that she would have needed to relax her pronunciations a bit to sound a little less proper. But singing behind a singer as stellar as Patti LaBelle and then joining The Supremes with a bunch of hoopla and scrutiny she didn't ask for, I can see why Cindy didn't have the confidence to assert herself.
