I knew Mercedes McCambridge briefly. I met her while she was on tour with Night Mother in Cleveland. She was very kind to me. She invited me down to her hotel to meet her. We corresponded on and off for a few years. Then we lost touch after her son's death. I love this interview because this is how she looked and sounded when I knew her. She was extremely intelligent and was a very talented actress. I saw her in "Night Mother" and she was stunning.

So you must know the Crandall family. She is actually my 3rd cousin on my mother's side. I got a picture of her with my grandmother's parents and the rest of the family my mother was just a baby and was in that picture.

You might want to read up on how she mistreated her son, who killed himself and his entire family, in part because of her neglect. And she has the gall in this interview to talk about how 'we must get closer to the 4 and 5 year old people in this world', when she was never there for her own kid.

She is very visibly excited and happy, but she conducts herself with such poise and grace. She is a lady in every sense of the word in this moment, and such grace and poise comes from living life and experiencing things and going through struggles as they come throughout life. She does speak of her political leanings, but she shows graciousness for and tremendous admiration for someone on the other side of the aisle, Nancy Reagan. I'm at a loss for words beyond this. This interview is so incredibly wonderful to watch.

No one else would have been right for the voice of Pazuzu, what she did to herself to achieve that voice was astonishing. Besides the bronchitis she had all her life, she chain smoked, drank, had raw eggs and last but not least was tied to a chair. I had a lover’s quarrel with the world - Robert Frost. Not a performance by the best actress, but the best performance (according to her peers) by an actress. Loneliness is marvelous. God is very shy and waits outside until all your company is gone and then He enters without ringing the bell. - Ralph Waldo Emerson. When you render Bobbie nearly speechless, consider it another triumph in the best way. Words of undiluted discernment that I am grateful for.

She mentions being a Democrat. Historically, being an Irish American Catholic it makes perfect sense. When the Irish were coming here in droves after the Potato Famine, there was not much of a welcome for them. They were blatantly unwelcome. The 4 factors which raised them up from poverty were Labor Unions, the Democratic Party, the Catholic church & last but not least their own procreation. By the 1940's most were no longer in poverty. They were now middle class Americans thanks to these social escalators which the woman tells us in "Out Of Ireland." I guess not everyone has such a hatred for the Democratic Party as the Trump folks & the fundamentalists have. It is said it is the party of the downtrodden. I think most African Americans would also agree with the statement. For her to mention she is a Democrat twice in this clip says an awful lot. Her parents came from the old country. I am sure they told her some stories of feeling hated for their creed & ethnicity. Thanks be to God it is in the rear view mirror. Don't hear about it hardly at all now. We sure do hear an awful lot about the holocaust though. Will they ever put that in the rear view mirror? It is spoken about far far too much as far as I am concerned. OMG, for Christ's sakes it is 75 years ago now. Move on!!! Just move on!!! It is done. It is over.
