Outstanding. These are two of the most important people in the guitar world today. Sterling has done more to promote rock guitar since Les Paul and Leo Fender than anyone else. Look at Morse, Luke and Albert Lee as devotees of his great work. John is a master of the guitar and has changed the way it is played at this point. Anyone can watch this video and learn a lot about the music business. I loved it.
Glad to hear Steve Morse get props for his vibrato. I always thought he was one of the guys who really had a unique sounding vibrato, but I don't hear a lot of people mention it.
I genuinely believe the Majesty is the best, most optimized electric guitar design ever. There's nothing I would change about it that would objectively make it better.
"Anything that you want to be good at, if it's sports, if it's music, if it's anything, writing, the consistency is what matters." - john pertucci, 2016
Petrucci is an incredibly humble person. I think it's from the fact, no matter how good you get, you still have to practice and learn new things and improve. I've never seen him pissed off or swear in a negative way. Such a disciplined person in general.
Haven't really listened to JP much (not a Dream Theater fan. Nothing wrong with 'em, just not my style) but man, after seeing how gracious, humble and sincere he is, I might have to broaden my musical horizons with his work. Always though Kirk Hammet was the nicest guy in metal/rock... J. Petrucci might have taken over that mantle.
Yup. JP is the most precise and consistant though, and he is a world class mature songwriter with the best tones ever. A textbook perfect player. But Marty is just nuts, and he puts his sack into every note like no other. But...John's epic solos are just....perfect. I LOVE Friedman., but Johnny gets my vote.
Petrucci is one of my personal Gods!!.....BUt who rang the room for this show? I'm hearing feedback around 8k and 500hz. Come on, A1! You know these guys are trying to ignore it! lol
I do not understand why people complain about John's playing, I mean, dude..ever been to Jimmy John's and have a sandwich? You like sandwiches, right? I like sandwiches too!
petrucci is so down to earth... it´s astonishing!
He's really not full of himself, he is actually very humble.
+JOSE MARIA GAMEZ GALLEGO total opposite of former member of DT Mike Portnoy
Haha I got the pun
Haha yes Jose! Beautiful joke!!
He has no reason to. You shouldnt really be shocked that a famous person isnt arrogant.
John has a better beard than some of the dwarves from the Hobbit films.
Kinda looks like Hagrid in a way..
Stratosfear12569 yeah, Hagrid the ripped guitar god
Tom Lanfear Yes, that too, so true.
It's a god-tier beard. He must dye it though. He can't be 50 years old with no grey hair lol

1:59 Steve Morse's playing on the Bash is stunning.
11:56 Fuck yeah Fates Warning.
28:16 That is rude, Mr. Sterling! XD
16:01 - Recording long tunes in sections, then learning the hole thing by heart - Quite a bit like how Yes did for Close to The Edge.
Petrucci's so cool ;))

Petrucci is one of my personal Gods!!.....BUt who rang the room for this show? I'm hearing feedback around 8k and 500hz. Come on, A1! You know these guys are trying to ignore it! lol
Looks like he finally got it together around 10 minutes in hahaha.

Great video. There is a bit of back-slapping going on, but thats okay....

Lol, around 18:30. I noticed that when I saw Satch live and he used different fingerings. No harm, still learned from it.

Petrucci looks like a Babylonian king.
+einarabelc5 Right. King Nabuchadnezzar II. I was gonna say Assyrian King - or King Solomon.

Damn he's really turned himself into a Caveman
Petrucci has tanked the fuck up. Niiiiiiice.
