Could Paul Gilbert do us all a favour and be a slightly less great person? Everybody looks like an asshole next to him because he's just too lovely to speak to.
Steve Morse: Laid back, normal rural guy Paul Gilbert: Silly, yet surprisingly innocent John Petrucci: Quiet, nice/sweet friend Steve Lukather: Dirty uncle
I may never be able to play like Petrucci but at least I can walk around Costco eating food off cocktail sticks and pretending I'm going to buy a box of it like Petrucci.
Weird thing is you would know where most things were. My local is in Straiton, Midlothian but Mason Ohio was 80% recognisable. Weird experience! What a fantastic interview and great to see the joy they have all meeting up too. Right on what Paul said about hand size and guitars. I remember back in the day wanting a Jem but my hand size is a lot smaller than Mr Vai's. I think Paul Gilbert's pinkie is longer than my index finger.
Steve used to live down the street from me in the mid-1970s in Decatur, GA when he was with the Dregs. I knew then and there that if I couldn't at least be the best guitarist on my own block, then a career in music was probably not in the cards for me. Deep Purple is lucky for having Steve to elevate their music.
JP lives near my 'hood....I was fortunate enough to see the exact house where he lives...for 10 bucks I'll tell you which Costco... ;) (just kidding on that last part)
Paul to Luke: " You played the KILLER solo to ' Huggin!!'" Then Luke to everyone: " The ORIGINAL title was TUGGING!! " God, I love these guys. . . Only Paul would idolize an obscure late 70s/early 80s piece of music that even Luke forgot about--ahaha! These guys need a show, I swear!
Out of all the NAMM coverage and videos , this one wins hands down. That was seriously entertaining and I'm still smiling minutes after watching. Very cool !!
All the greatest guitarists are just genuinely good and compassionate human beings. Paul especially is the epitome of a fun, smart, talented, yet humble guy with a big heart. Steve, Steve and John are all great guys too with warm personalities. It's those personalities that set them all apart from other players who although sometimes are close in stature as far as technique goes, all the greats have this friendly charisma and big hearts. That's where the magic comes from.
Paul Gilbert misheard JP saying "Costco" and Mr.Ball saying "Tanning".. I wonder to what extent his tinnitus is affecting him. I feel sorry for the guy.
what an awesome interview with heroes of mine.God bless you all Paul Gilbert, Steve Lukather, John Petrucci, Steve Morse and all at Ernie Ball and to the Captain too
It's incredible to see so many legends just hanging out and chatting with people. They're all so down-to-earth. Massive John Petrucci fan here, hopefully this will lead to more Petrucci products reviews in the future?
I once emailed Paul via his website when I was just starting the guitar. He sent me back this incredibly humble, interesting and useful reply. I was blown away. What an awesome dude.
I’ve seen John at cosco on Long Island. I always wanted to go up to him and say hi and let him know that he’s inspired me but Didn’t want to bother him. I actually have a friend that lives across the street from him and he brought him one of my guitars for an autograph but I’ve never been lucky enough meet him.
I would have peed my pants throughout the entire video. My god, what an amazing, totally random assemblage of talent...The only way it could have been better would have been an impromptu jam session... Best video from NAMM 2017 yet...
It's funny picturing Paul Gilbert working at a music store, never playing guitar or selling anything, but only talking about buying groceries and nachos.
Gilbert is beyond an awesome dude! So mellow and laid back. A maniacal player and polar opposite of a human being. Luke is a dog, Morse is a geek and petrucci is an eclectic dude. All world class players!!
loved this ,great bunch of guys who just happen to be some of the most amazing guitarists on the planet along with Lee and Sterling enjoying a moment of just plain fun.
That was awesome of all those legends to hang with Lee Anderton. To think an independent RUclips channel could come this far is just incredible. Media really has transformed and so has the Anderton's channel. It's just amazing.
Paul should make his own RUclips series where he interviews guitarists about nothing related to guitar.
SheepHair
Oh man he can pull that off. he was so natural.
SheepHair- I agree he had some great questions and just got them all talking.
i want that man's social skilss
Great comment. Seems like he has a comfortable vibe in front of the camera.
"guitarists on coffee balancing trailers"
Paul: you got a big smile on your face!
Petrucci : it's because I'm seeing you!
Awwwwwwwwww💗
Petrucci is too much sweet for those guys
‘I used extra polish on my guitar that night’
Could Paul Gilbert do us all a favour and be a slightly less great person? Everybody looks like an asshole next to him because he's just too lovely to speak to.
I get your point, but I couldn't utter the word asshole referencing any of those talented blokes.
+siskokidd EVERYBODY looks like an asshole next to him.
morse seems like a great guy as well....
Morse is a true gentleman.
he's also the tallest guy in the bunch! lol
Steve Morse: Laid back, normal rural guy
Paul Gilbert: Silly, yet surprisingly innocent
John Petrucci: Quiet, nice/sweet friend
Steve Lukather: Dirty uncle
Actually he is very clean, apparently...
LOL
HAHA
That is hilarious Dizzle
🤣
Captain Lee Anderton just won NAMM
Seriously, he got a beautiful guitar from PRS and then this...I am quite jealous.
Caloss2 Channel Freaking amazing, what luck that Capt. has
no doubt! and got a free custom prs!!! dang...
@@Charlee_Murphee what is it?
Paul Gilbert is the nicest man in the world.
Steve Lukather is the Ron Jeremy of guitar.
stekks Yes...his DNA is all over his industry as well...
stekks haha. Gold
I'd say Tim Burton and David Lee Roth as Steve Morse.
hahaha I thought same
If he starts twisting his guitar in someway he'll get's my d#ck straight up.
This is so random and human -- love it.
This is the best interview of The NAMM 2017! :D
Literally just scrolled down to say the same thing. LUL What a interview
Best interview EVER!!!
Lee.. did you get your stuff from the shirt pocket? 😂
think Paul's hearing is failing
James Melton yep. It has been for years.
I love how Paul is like "yeah my son.... but let me tell you about my cat!"
This has to go down as one of the best interviews in NAMM history! I’m crying!!! Thanks everyone!!!
The real question is: Did Lee get the stuff in his shirt?
Andertons just won the lotto of namm interviews.
Always loved Paul, awesome guy
I may never be able to play like Petrucci but at least I can walk around Costco eating food off cocktail sticks and pretending I'm going to buy a box of it like Petrucci.
Alan Angel Costco is my new favourite supermarket
Fair play I would bloody love to go to Costco with John Petrucci.
Alan Angel just a shame the Costco I go to is in the North-east of Scotland and his is in the suburbs of New York
Mark Nicholas When you go to Straiton, make sure you're straight in and straight out. And don't forget ikea for their meatballs!
When Steve starts talking about trailers and diesel fuel they're all looking at him like he's from another planet.
I love Steve.
Hahaha . The real Old School. He's not kidding
He IS from another planet. So is Steve Vai.
If he needs bailing twine and diesel for his tractors it's safe to conclude he lives on a farm.
50% of my favorite guitarists, two other great ones, the guy who makes the best strings, and the coolest shopkeeper in the world.
100% agree!!
Yeah this is just too good
Paul gilbert is just such a wonderful guy, and 'Huggin' by Dara Sedaka is indeed an undiscovered early 80s pop gem.
That was one of the highlights of this whole thing. Paul is like a historian of guitar music. So lovely that he gave Luke credit on an unknown gem.
Andertons have won NAMM
Every DT and JP fan just searched for all the Costco's in long island...
JP lives near my 'hood....I was fortunate enough to see the exact house where he lives...for 10 bucks I'll tell you which Costco... ;)
(just kidding on that last part)
I'll give you $100 if you tell me which is his house XD
Rodrigo Zamora Wait, will you really? I'll tell you all band members houses and make it $400
Hands down the best 17 mins of Namm coverage this year!
These will probably be the most viewed NAMM 2017 video. Captn wins the internet
I am not winning grammar in commenting though. Damn
Never thought I would see the day that John Petrucci was in an Andertons video. This is awesome
Fraser Cummings they even have a 2 hour video just with him, was very interesting

@Witchcraft Destroys Minds & Reaps Souls Did he?! Do you happen to remember the title?
right? just randomly mentions not neal sedaka himself but her freakin' daughter lol!
Paul is a guitar music historian
what a dream in one frame.
Great chat with 4 GREATS
Out of all the NAMM coverage and videos , this one wins hands down. That was seriously entertaining and I'm still smiling minutes after watching. Very cool !!
The only thing that would make this interview even better is if drunk Yngwie showed up with a beer bottle in his hand
love it. hahaha
no he don't like donuts
More is more
I thought he went off the sauce
And ask what time is it? ...yeah you know the answer. It's time to ROCK!
Holy shit Chappers will be spewing he missed out on this!
Matthew Cull that's what I was thinking man!
yeah... Lee's smile the whole time says it all... such luck to be with these 5 at the same time...
I mean, it's either that or the birth of his child. Certainly a tough choice :p
Ahahah, that's funny! (I hope others'll understand your sarcasm)
he's too annoying anyways
I'm watching this again. It makes me happy.
This is just the funniest interview ever...if it can be called an interview! All these guys seem just so genuinely lovely and without ego.
Put together they do 65000 bpm
1 persona basta ruclips.net/video/U5lzYMZy254/видео.html

One of the coolest interviews I’ve seen! What a great bunch of musicians!
This is the absolute pinnacle of Winter NAMM 2017 interviews. Well done.
yeah what a bunch talent , great for your view, cheers guys..from down under
This is a unbelievable interview. Paul Gilbert is the man, props to all these guys.
Never before so much talent were put together in a small square foot área!
My goodness!!
and talk about anything else except what they are good at lol!
I think we can all read Lee's mind, "Holy shit!".
This is a classic, I've watched it so many times and it always cracks me up!
Yeah. This will go down in history as an iconic moment in time. They should put it in a Time Capsule or something:D
Dude, imagine John Petrucci walking around Cost-Co with his wicked beard, sampling foods. lol
Nick Yelovich imagine the food getting stuck on his beard
The like button is not sufficient in this case
Literally the best! Wish it could be NAMM every day lol
So much Rock Royalty and talent in a single frame!!!
Paul Gilbert seems like such a crackin guy
I like that you described him as "crackin". I'm going to start using that.
Stuart Begley, you're a crackin' guy.
I, however, am a kraken guy; ya know, cuz of the tentacles and what-not.

By far the most entertaining NAMM coverage ever!!!
When John Petrucci apologizes for jumping into your video...
Ramsey Hildebrand DON'T APOLOGIZE DUDE
Ramsey Hildebrand You have been pardoned by *God*
The biggest concentration of stars in one video ever, especially at NAMM 2017 :D
This was both the weirdest and the best interview ever. I love how Lee just stands there looking confused XD
Whats new he allways 😕 confused
I once emailed Paul via his website when I was just starting the guitar. He sent me back this incredibly humble, interesting and useful reply. I was blown away. What an awesome dude.
Highlight of this years NAMM videos. Wow!
I smiled on this entire 17:37 minutes video. Definitely the best video of NAMM 2017. Great work Lee!
the Avengers.....
Makes sense... Petrucci: Hulk, Tony Stark: Luke, Paul Gilbert: Captain America, Steve Morse: Thor and Lee nick Fury that gathers them all in one place
Fu Yu so true 😁
Need Yngwie
Paul Gilbert is so amazing. So natural!
Top musicians always humble. See their reaction 17:05 when lee praised them.
Still one of the best interviews! So much fun seeing these legends together!
I still love this. 3 years later and the giddy look on Lees face is a little treat.
Best. Andertons. Video. Ever.
Fantastic strings, been using since the 70s
Captain meets Paul Gilbert incoming? :D
EDIT : This was amazing! They should all come on the show!
Oh please, yes!
Jordan Drake hopefully John Petrucci too because Dream Theater are in the UK in April
I would like to see an show episode with Paul Gilbert, just for the jaw dropping when Paul takes flight :p
the best interview at Namm 2017
John Petrucci is totally rocking' that "John the Baptist" look. He's got more hair than Captain Caveman.
2nd time I watched this, a year later and its still cool to see all these guys chatting
I would have peed my pants throughout the entire video. My god, what an amazing, totally random assemblage of talent...The only way it could have been better would have been an impromptu jam session...
Best video from NAMM 2017 yet...
This is now my favourite interview of all time
Best. Interview. Ever.
One of my favorite interviews with one of my favorite guitarists.. Mr. Paul G.
Damn, Luke is cutting it up!! Dude's got the quick wit.
I watch your channel too. Great stuff there. Keep it up, man!
I don't know why I'm stumbling across this now, but this has to be one of my favorite videos on youtube.
That moment when Paul Gilbert works at your music store.
It's funny picturing Paul Gilbert working at a music store, never playing guitar or selling anything, but only talking about buying groceries and nachos.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
What a hectic video with many legends in one interview! Loved it!
this interview is amazing, totally sums up the vibe of Namm
Most legendary interview ever.
Gilbert is beyond an awesome dude! So mellow and laid back. A maniacal player and polar opposite of a human being. Luke is a dog, Morse is a geek and petrucci is an eclectic dude. All world class players!!
the way legends just come in and out of the interview throughout the video is just amazing

loved this ,great bunch of guys who just happen to be some of the most amazing guitarists on the planet along with Lee and Sterling enjoying a moment of just plain fun.
This is great.
So cool to see these mind blowing musicians. Seen them all in Europe. Great musicians.
Rob must be a little crushed not being able to stand around with those guys(baby or no)
That was awesome of all those legends to hang with Lee Anderton. To think an independent RUclips channel could come this far is just incredible. Media really has transformed and so has the Anderton's channel. It's just amazing.
Paul Gilbert, what a cool guy
My 4 favorites guitar players in one go...This is dope!
I love seeing Lee fangirl all these greats! The whole thing derails and makes for an awesome spot.
This is full of positive energy all around....toooo good.
