I love this …. Wonderful story, great actors/actresses, love Joel McCrea and Barabra Stanwyck together, they made the film quite endearing. I hope I can find more like this….🤔👍👍👍👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🤔🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🤔🥰
Have seen this five or six times. Each time, I cry happy tears at the end. Im 82, a grandma and great-grandmother five times. This is my kind of story. Thanks from Montana.
Have watched several times and always enjoy it ! Excellent cast and intriguing storyline. Stanwyck and McCrea are truly good together. Worth the watch !
This is excellent. Well, despite some of the minor foolishness, such as the fact that despite the privations of hard frontier life, Barbara Stanwyck's hair looks like she just came from the salon in every scene. The inexpert colorization does cause Sergeant Hook's ears to turn green and the boy to look like a cadaver in a few spots also. But that can all be overlooked thanks to the great story and great acting.
Love this movie, never get tired of watching it! Barbara Stanwyck is stunning as usual and Joel McCray is great in his role. Will surely have the opportunity to watch this movie again along with any other good western movies involving Barbara or Joel as actors.
Great movie. I watch these older movies almost every evening. They’re very entertaining and relaxing compared to listening to all the horrible wars we listen to throughout the days.
Ain't that the truth. I grew up watching Westerns with my grandpa and just hearing the music and the dialogue makes me feel good. Sometimes I just put them on for background ambience when I'm doing house chores.
This great western movie, with two of the best actors/actresses, is one of the best. Most Americans would be astonished by their DNA make up. More than a few people have some trace of Native American DNA. If your ancestors have some French, DNA, chances, are you also have some amount of Native American DNA as well. Life goes on…
I’ve always loved Joel McCrea. I wonder if his true feelings & the way he would normally respond came thru as a natural thing in his pictures. His life story with his wonderful happy life with his beautiful wife fascinate me.If they are going to colorize do it with excellence, not a cheap job as they normally do. I still like it colorized although a good job was not done. I love the look of his home & ranch, I’d give anything to see it for n person. I to am a horsewoman. Thank you God for men like I know, I believe Joel McCrea to have been. Now I could cry.
If you like this movie (and I do), I strongly recommend "The Quiet Gun," "The Tin Star," and "Escort West." All three are very, very good Westerns from the same time period (1956/7/8).
Enjoyed it very much. Thank you. Discovered Joel McRae through You Tube, and he's one of my favorite leading men. Good story, interesting characters and good acting. But that's gotta be the worst colorization I've ever seen. 🤣
First time that I have watched this movie. Excellent. Showed how different people can have different attitudes and prejudices. The only thing I didn't like was the, at times, cheesy music lyrics! Cheers, Steve
At 1:07.42 as the party says goodbyes there is background score that plays... does anyone know the name of the tune? It sounds so very familiar, perhaps used in another movie or maybe someone remade the song recently? I'll thank anyone who can help me get this earworm fixed.
In the end, it worked out pretty good for Trooper Hook, Cora and the boy when her hubby and Natchez shot each other. Problem solved! I have always liked actor John Dehner in the Westerns he stared in back in the 1950s and early 60's like the Rifleman, etc.
Lol when hook saluted his commander and the commander saluted, not sure if anyone else noted but when the commended started to put up his hand, his hand was bare and than he had a glove on for the last part. Blooper lol
The plot of this movie is so similar to Stalking Moon with Gregory Peck from 1968. Anyone else notices? I love them both but Stalking Moon is way more intense
Yes I believe your referring to Gregory Peck and Eva Marie Saint. It was much more intense, this film was made earlier and reflects that Era in the film industry.
@@gregcox9556 Yes, I understand that and I don't mind commercials. It's been 6 months ago so I don't remember the particulars BUT I do recall it was constant commercials.
Good film. Not come across it before. Only one observation. Miss Stanwyck''s hair. She looks like she's just had a perm after cutting her hair. It doesn't look right , too forties or fifties style.
If tastes were equal, the goods would remain. There is no harm in having a version in color while preserving the black and white original. I think every age group of viewers has different desires in this regard.
You have watched too many Zombie movies. Me myself I’ve never seen a Zombie movie, but I know a Great Western Movie when I’ve seen one. Great Movie!!!!
Spoiler comment: My only problem with this movie is that they leave the $15K lying there. No one picks it up, no one goes back to get it. Seems like an awful waste all around.
Really hate how ted turner ruined so many great black & white movies. If he couldn't do a better job than this, he should have had the decency to leave them be.

Another favorite Western I grew up watching, in and out of theater. Thanks for sharing with us all. 👍👍 5🏆 10⭐
Have seen this five or six times. Each time, I cry happy tears at the end. Im 82, a grandma and great-grandmother five times. This is my kind of story. Thanks from Montana.
Great to hear, Love from The high mountains of Wicklow Ireland. X many blessings to you lady
I love these old movies I like how the characters played a lot in all the same westerns in them days
Great movie and casting. I love Westerns. Ty.

Have watched several times and always enjoy it ! Excellent cast and intriguing storyline. Stanwyck and McCrea are truly good together. Worth the watch !
I love Joel McCrea's movies .
We like Joel McCrea but this movie should have been left in the dust bin.
Good story! Not what you think and wonderfully surprising in a unique story-line. Well worth watching.
❤ Thank you for this wonderful movie
One of Joel McCreas greatest movies. Thanks very much ☺️
This is excellent. An excellent film made by professionals truly.
Love this movie, never get tired of watching it! Barbara Stanwyck is stunning as usual and Joel McCray is great in his role. Will surely have the opportunity to watch this movie again along with any other good western movies involving Barbara or Joel as actors.
He invented his family ❤. Adorable!!!
Great movie. I watch these older movies almost every evening. They’re very entertaining and relaxing compared to listening to all the horrible wars we listen to throughout the days.
Thank you so much for this great western the modern day movies have no " soul" 😊😁🇦🇽💥💥🌞
Ain't that the truth. I grew up watching Westerns with my grandpa and just hearing the music and the dialogue makes me feel good. Sometimes I just put them on for background ambience when I'm doing house chores.
Great movie. Beautiful ending.
Always enjoyed Joel McGrey movies.
Joel Grey too.
Joel McCrea 🤔
Rodolfo Acosta as Nachez chief had a long career acting both in Hollywood and Mexican cinema.
He was a fine actor.High Chaparral!
This great western movie, with two of the best actors/actresses, is one of the best.

one of her best roles. Joel was always great
I did enjoy this movie.
My favorite Joel McCrea movie.
Si,
El Gran Rodolfo Acosta!..."" 👏👏👏👏👏👍
And she always knew it. A very story well acted and made well.
You want to see what a real man looks like, follow the actions of Joel McCrea(Trooper Hook)
Great movie Hostiles with Christian Bale was a modern update... both worth a watch.

Western Romance
If you like this movie (and I do), I strongly recommend "The Quiet Gun," "The Tin Star," and "Escort West." All three are very, very good Westerns from the same time period (1956/7/8).
True the story line is similar to Stalking Moon. Both captured a historical period of western era.
Fantastic, Terry!!! You were so cute.
Great story! I didn't know what was going to happen. Well, I sorta knew 🙂
A great movie deserces a BETTER ending! The three of them on a green screen was hilarious ! 😂😂
Good old western! John Ireland and Lloyd Bridges! Based on true story.
Superb.
Joel Mc Crea My fave.
Must be Scottishs blood❤
Enjoyed it very much. Thank you. Discovered Joel McRae through You Tube, and he's one of my favorite leading men. Good story, interesting characters and good acting. But that's gotta be the worst colorization I've ever seen. 🤣

Very Good!
First time that I have watched this movie. Excellent. Showed how different people can have different attitudes and prejudices. The only thing I didn't like was the, at times, cheesy music lyrics!
Cheers,
Steve
@unclearthur Are you kidding? The rousing music score was the best part!
Poor kid. If he knew what his life was going to be like he wouldn't be smiling at the end.
Susan Kohner Imitation of life.
And also, "The Big Fisherman".
I think Joel Mc Crea was in a movie also with Barbara Stanwyck back in the 1930s.
Banjo on my knee 1936
Why colorize perfection? The b&w was great.
Good thing, This movie is still available in both formats.
an excellent cowboy movie
Awesome

This colorized version is great
John was a baddie for years before he proved he could be funny.
"Out with you, Hookie! You've done your bit!"
Lol when hook saluted his commander and the commander saluted, not sure if anyone else noted but when the commended started to put up his hand, his hand was bare and than he had a glove on for the last part. Blooper lol
Nope his hand got a moment of discolorization
Kann ja alles super verstehen..man könnte heulen….😢😢😢😢😢😢

Take your pick,dont complain
POR FAVOR POSTEM FILMES ANTIGOS DUBLADO OU LEGENDADO EM PORTUGUÊS
El sr."visitador"siempre de 1ra.😁
En español por favor gracias
Ok movie. Joel and Barbara are bit old for their parts. I liked the movie, Union Pacific they did together back in the late 30s.
Banjo on my knee.1936
Buenos días en español la e visto muchas veces pero colorizada no está subida en ingles por favor en español gracias bendiciones ❤
Great movie but the commercials every 30 seconds was a bit much.
If we didn’t have the commercials you wouldn’t be watching these films on RUclips.
@@gregcox9556 Yes, I understand that and I don't mind commercials. It's been 6 months ago so I don't remember the particulars BUT I do recall it was constant commercials.
Why is this called Trooper Hook when Hook is a 1st sgt?
Good film. Not come across it before. Only one observation. Miss Stanwyck''s hair. She looks like she's just had a perm after cutting her hair. It doesn't look right , too forties or fifties style.
Why does the sergeant have such an old rifle, when everyone else has a 'winchester' type rifle ??
Barbara Stanwick sleeps thru this one. But she had a remarkable career of 30 years. A real pistol of a lady.
En español latino por favor, gracias.
1.10.22 : Stanwyck wearing a gown ! Could you believe it ?!
I prefere b w over trying to colorize .
Agreed , it is disrespectful to the cinematographers and their skill. The wavering colour wandering is also bl__dy irritating and distracting !
If tastes were equal, the goods would remain. There is no harm in having a version in color while preserving the black and white original. I think every age group of viewers has different desires in this regard.
@@Bar8-6ar8 I still prefere b w over cheap looking colorization.Soooo.ESABATMB.
Myself as well.
I just don't care for the blue faces and the flashes and changes of light. Leaving it in b&w helps place it where it should be in the history of film.
Shooting over a ledge like that ' not knowing where your bullet could go is really unsafe .
😂
Hay
I understand attitudes to mixed races hasn;'t changed much in the U.S
You mean in the world!?!?!?
Por favor legendado em português ou dublado em português
Y colonizada exelente si porfa
35:58 poor Indian boy just died look at hir colour
How many white women actresses at the time, do you think would have agreed to play this role, Barbara Stanwyck was a great human Being.
Perdon no habia realmente otra india😢
He said....Dingleberries!
Reimbursement in full for Captain UN Pandey A1 family Dr Virna Pandey signora
pleased stop with the colorizing this movies it looks like crap
The widow is likely to marry the sergeant ?
I wonder what the diameter of that ball is?
Hab leider nichts verstanden😮😮😮😮😮spreche Deutsch….verstehe auch nur Deutsch😮😮😮😮😮

Thought this was a western not a zombie movie
You have watched too many Zombie movies. Me myself I’ve never seen a Zombie movie, but I know a Great Western Movie when I’ve seen one. Great Movie!!!!
Colorizada
Could have done without the singing too!
Spoiler comment:
My only problem with this movie is that they leave the $15K lying there. No one picks it up, no one goes back to get it. Seems like an awful waste all around.
Não tem legenda em português
The Sargent should not hit the boy
Too MANY commercials.
Really hate how ted turner ruined so many great black & white movies. If he couldn't do a better job than this, he should have had the decency to leave them be.
Ah those "good old days".......when they were actually proud of their systemic racism. The Little Big Horn was just Karma.
