I’m a Gary fanatic, this is the best thing I’ve ever seen re Gary’s music life, well done Jason. Neil seems like a great human being.I love everything Gary did rock and blues. Dark Days In Paradise was my favourite though. Thanks for this fantastic, brilliant, informative interview! Well done. Rob Courtney from Tweed Heads , Australia.
Have only just discovered this broadcast, absolutely loved it. Neil Carter is such a gentleman, in a long illustrious career has shown no bitterness which is rare amongst musicians. I saw Gary live on many occasions but only after his rock phase which is a bit of a shame, although I do have all his albums. So much material on RUclips which shows how his music lives on.
Thanks for this men. Brought back many great memories. First seen Gary Moore band in The King's Hall in Belfast 1989. My first concert and what an introduction to live music.
@@RobGarlandLA It was amazing Rob. Much better than the video of the concert protrays. The atmosphere was electric and although the Kings Hall was known as a shed with very poor acoustics I don't remember the feedback being so bad on the night. I do know Gary got animated a few times with the side of stage about his monitors but to me it was flawless. Shapes of Things which was not on the video but was the second song of the night and was unreal
@@JasonMcNamara I in someways understand where your coming from Jason as Gary very rarely played Belfast. After 1989 I didn't see Gary again until 2005 in Dublin for the Phil Lynot tribute. I then got a flight to England to see him on a few blues tours but rock is where my heart is. I can't fathom why Gary didn't play Ireland during the Wild Frontier tour as the album and singles were massive hits here at the time.
@@Irishfella That's wonderful. I have the '89 DVD bootleg and some recordings from that tour, so I know he was on fine form. I was supposed to see that tour in the U.K. but the gig got canceled and when I saw him a year later it was the blues tour warmup, which was still awesome, but I would have loved to have seen the After The War tour.
Gary was an unbelievable player, he really should of been up there with the greatest guitarist ever to walk the planet. Just listen to his solo from the Dark Days In Paradise album on the song Where Did We Go Wrong? as he makes it cry, do yourself a favour and listen to it.
I absolutely loved this! I've had a few exchanges with Neil over the years and he's such a lovely man. Gary was my favourite guitar player growing up and probably the reason why I am a professional musician now. My favourite period is the ''84-'89 rock years, but that said I love it all: Colosseum II, Lizzy, the blues years, etc.. Seeing Gary live was witnessing a force of nature, every note played with 100% intensity. Thanks so much Jason for a great show - maybe we'll bump into each other at a future NAMM show and nerd out about Gary! Cheers.
I cant believe i missed this i love gary moore he is my number 1 i live and breath his music. Neil is such an amazing talented person. Love from the states.
Fantastic interview. Great stories. I saw Neil with Gary in 1985, 1987, 1989 & 2010. It brings back great memories. I actually own Neil’s leather jacket from the ‘After the War’ tour and Gary’s own copy of ‘Emerald Aisles’.
Great interview seen Neil in the early 80s playing with UFO and in the mid 80s with Gary Moore at me Milton Keynes bowl just wanted to say thank you follows great UFO albums and for your talent
Saw you guys open for RUSH at Irvine Meadows in 1984...great show!!! I ended up going on to work there for many years (until the venue closed). When they tore down the place I grabbed the exact seats I sat in for the RUSH/Gary Moore show...they're now in my backyard. Then when "We want Moore" came out I got you all to autograph it at a record signing at Tower Records...it's hanging on the wall above my head right now actually :) Also got you all to sign my Ibanez Roadstar...but damn...they've faded a ton!
Great watch. Thanks both for doing this. I always thought Gary and Neil made a great team, and it was Neil joining the band that really made the unit work.
Great stuff, Just a shame i couldnt hear Neil to well, Hard to make out what hes saying , shame Jason didnt tell him at start to up his levels or something , Ruined the Interview for me ( Or maybe my ears are still ringing from the *LOUDEST* gig i EVER saw, Gary Moore Band 1982, Marquee, London )
Gary and Neil were fantastic together, Neil is such a great person and has great stories.

The Rock Years are by far Gary’s best.
