  • I decided to make this homemade awl for the people of manomano. I’ve made it from a small branch of bog oak and a twisted screwdriver, using mainly my wood lathe. This is my first time with a multi-scraper. It definitely don’t replace at all my turning gouges and scrapers but it’s an easy start tool for those who want to approach to woodturning. I also use the angle grinder for shaping metal while it’s attached to the lathe (I definitely don’t recommend you to do this).
I hope you enjoy this project. Leave your comments and questions. I’ll be pleased to answer all of them.

Very nice, Lluis! I make these for friends and use SDS bits from eBay. Cheers from Seattle.

Hi Chris! May I ask why SDS particularly? Regards!

Inspired by this: ruclips.net/video/1-vfPDHVxQc/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/S-eNxgxO-Xo/видео.html Very beautiful. I manage to retain the carbide tip by careful grinding to make a super hard point.

I make handles like the second video, but use the whole bit like the first video as I like the added weight of the tool that way. 3/16" bits were cheap on ebay. Brass plumbing fitting for a ferrule. www.ebay.com/itm/10PC-3-16-X6-Drill-Bit-Set-SDS-Plus-Rotary-Hammer-Concrete-Masonry-Carbide-Tip/263461422440?epid=7013819084&hash=item3d57864568:g:Vb8AAOSwjytaa97H

It's an axminster hobby one. You might be wrong about the noise due the editing process. Anyway I think it's a quite one.
