The original comment is referring to the fact that alcohol is actually a violence inducing drug. Cannabis is not. Is that fair? The fact that the law they violated has been struck down doesn't change the fact that they transgressed. Law is a contract. Amendment of that contract doesn't waive your liability for a past breach of contract. In a real sense, they weren't just punished for having or selling marijuana. They were punished for the act of breaking the law.
Someone didn’t pay attention in High school government class. There are laws that say if you get busted for a crime that later gets legalize then you must still do your time. Pots making you guys dumb.

I drive a Fuel Truck for a living and it's illegal for me to go home and burn a joint, but I can down a 12 pack of beer and go to work in the morning.

How things have changed. In the early '90's, for a Speech Communication class, I gave my speech about legalizing cannabis. It got the class so riled up arguing with me that it ended the class for the day, and practically got me run out of the school.

I was once denied a job for testing positive for Marijuana in 2018.... I was told I had to be a angry drunk to deal with my insomnia and pain that fuels the insomnia which lead to criminal charges for the first time in my life so I went back to smoking and this officer stole that from me and wrote me a ticket and the judge won't accept my medical card, screw them, there those 8% that think I shouldn't be sleeping, or allowed access to something that helps make my life work. Shame on them
But this was only before losing my house and family to alcoholism, Marijuana, she is a blessing. She is my only comfort in life anymore. Alchol was going to kill me
Worked as an EMT in SF and Oakland in the late 80s. Never had a marijuana related call ever. Lots of ETOH alcohol related calls.
I'm from Texas but I'll never move back untill that weed is legal. I'll gladly drive an hour to grocery shop but I'll never live where I can go to jail for weed again

Starting a business takes making a good bit of capital first and saving. And with good enough credit you can borrow cheap. It's all about saving/making enough for that initial starting investment. Even though they are completely different animals I would recommend investing in real estate over a dispensary for example due to being cheaper to start.

I've face life in prison twice in life for growing plants in Oklahoma, this with no priors. Now I am free. Took many calls to the legislatures but all in all, when OK found out they were losing money by not legalizing , they moved. It's always, always about the money.

In 1985 I got 162 days in county jail for 0.118 grams of cannabis in Oklahoma. All I learned in jail was how to be a better guerrilla grower. I was turned on to Jorge Cervantes who has been a mentor to me ever since then through his wonderful books.

I'll say one thing is it's really weird hearing cannabis type of ads on the radio nowadays.
I used to get sleep paralysis multiple times a week for years. It was terrifying, marijuana fixed that with zero issues, and my anxiety is much more manageable too. It's time for the U.S. to grow up, this issue should never have existed in the first place.

I have PTSD from wartime service in Iraq. Alcohol also got me into a lot of trouble. Let's be honest, we all have our vices. That being said, that vice might as well be a drugs that has been called "the most benign recreational drug" by doctors.

The only "Growing acceptance" of legalization is from the Government, not the people... The people knew it wasn't as bad as they said decades ago and in many cases medically beneficial.
I was able to stop use of Xanax after taking it daily 25yrs, with the help of THC/CBD products. I moved to Oklahoma ,got my card, and I haven't touched it since. I was also able to quit smoking cigarettes. The state board of nursing has to recognize it as my medication. Life is good!💯💯🔥💨

Hi I'm from Canada, weed has been legal for years, the black market is gasping it's last breath on life support and crime related to cannabis has dropped 98%. No societal ill effects and we have even seen a drop in drinking.

I'm 45 my parents smoke it. My 26 yr old son smokes it. They can't keep trying to convince three to four generations of pot smokers that it is bad; we have all seen you can work hard and have a good life smoking pot. We own house's, have small businesses& look like functioning people. we have laughed at how they try to paint smokers into a corner

I live in Seattle cheers my friend, this is a wonderful plant that we know does not kill anybody, and it makes the person using marijuana a better person. I'm smoking a nice bowl of weed with my cup of coffee during my wake and bake. My cats get CBD oil, it helps with their pain, and it helps my picky older cat eat the food that I provide her and not waste anything.

In the early 2000's A retired ex special forces veteran with multiple tours and combat related injuries lit a joint and smoked it in front of me at his house. It was my friends dad and I remember asking why he smoked instead of taking pain medication his reply was "those painkillers will destroy your life, this is natural" and as quickly as he arrived he left. I then asked my friend why is he sneaking around his own house to smoke a joint? He replied "My mom hates potheads"
My uncle’s old army buddy got super drunk with us one night and told us how he sometimes has nightmares of Vietnam. Sometimes he freaks out when his wife gets home late, thinking it’s Charlie out to get him. He said he started smoking weed and it’s been really helpful, calms him down. It’s sad, but he said getting high is the few times were he feels he can be at peace with himself.

I got alcoholism in the Marines like alot of us did, alchohol is twenty times worse for you than weed, as long as you dont smoke way too much its perfectly healthy and benificial for you. 😄 and don't get me wrong, I love beer, i just like the fun it brings me, but its still bad for you.
I think all marijuana, tobacco and alchohol should be absolutely legal to grow/make unregulated.
Thats the major problem. Big pharma will loose millions of dollars because people will be using a natural plant over a man made pill. Big pharma makes highly addictive pills people get hooked get sick commit crimes to feed the habit get arrested..... the state makes money the prisons make money rehabs make money all while your life is at rock bottom while rehabs teach you that its your fault for being a junky in the first place.....in reality you can smoke a joint or eat a cookie with zero repercussion (other than the munchies and cotton mouth) and achieve the same results with zero consequences.

Seeing the changes in points of view on marijuana in just the last 5 decades is astounding. Anyone who has smoked it in this lifetime knows that the stigma against it is unjust and unwarranted. It makes me so happy to see that we can now (in most places) be able to smoke a pipe at the end of the day in peace and use it in a medical setting to help with ailments. or set & chill Just goes to show how your government can spin a narrative for their own agendas.

it can be done, but it requires the president and the governor's to all do so, so you require it to both be legalized and then 56(the president, and the state governors along with the governors of the us territories) or so people pardon there respective jurisdictions(with the possible exception that a bill may be passed in a state by state basis to retroactively decriminalize, but that gets legally murky and might not be constitutional), thats a lot, the federal government cannot choose to pardon everyone because they have no control over the states justice system. All that can be done is a bill that pressures the states into pardoning but withholding federal funds unless such action is taken by the states

@Carl Mason less than 10% of usual weed users are addicted. It can affect the development of the brain, but if you wait till you're 25 there's no problem. Don't know about the heart, and the lungs is only if it's smoked. Mental health problems caused by weed is extremely rare.

The VA had me on 5 different meds for PTSD and painkillers. Vicodin Extra Strength 3 times a day. After having episodes and meds constantly being changed, I didn't know who I was, what day it was, nothing. For 6 years now, I have pain but not to the extreme as before. Mentally it has worked wonders. But medical marijuana is $60 for a Tenth. Who sells TENTHS???🤣😂 Let me grow my own medicine, just like people make their own wine. 💪🇺🇸

Meanwhile all those incarcerated in Virginia on pot charges remain in jail.
We went from not even knowing where to get it while we never discussed it since nobody we knew ever did it. Now appears that a few of our close friends do smoke it for medicinal use. I've been sick and disabled for decades. Indica and Hockey pucks make me calm and relaxed, either the pain goes away or makes it so my brain isn't outpowered by pain thoughts.

Can I apply living in the UK on maybe special circumstances?? I am mentally and physically ill, I have nerve root damage due to disc prolapse' in my lower back and it looks like I may be suffering from Borderline Personality Disorder (mentally) Due to major anxiety issues I first tried cannabis when I was 15 and it made me panic and that panic lasted so as my mental health got more tender I learned that alcohol was what I needed to "Man Up" and be molded into another and as I grew older I found the hangovers far yo hard to embrace, to the point I would have to drink more and everyday for at least for days until the anxiety wore off, then when my back started playing up I found myself at the doctors being diagnosed with depression so I started being heavily medicated from prescription drugs Tramadol, Pregabalin, Duluxotine, Sertraline, Mirtazapine and Omeprizal, this led my to stop drinking, cold turkey style, it was tough, but I was in far to much pain to care, over the years I have become more confused and I believe sphychsis maybe setting in and I hade started to realise all the Darkness that has and does happen to me, bur also all of the wrong things I do, which to others. Last summer to help with my Chronic mental pain I started using cannabis as a way to cope (and as a last resort to save my relationship with my wonderful wife to be) the first couple of times I was 15 and panicking until tge cannabis helped me realise another perception, a place where the voices stop, a place when my tense and stressed body starts to actually relaxe, but it's costly and illegal in the UK, but all those other drugs the NHS prescribe me are extremely costly and deadly, but that's ok?!!! Why can't they allow me 1 maybe 2 plants a year so I can use it as a medicine and would cost the NHS hardly anything in comparison, would I qualify??
